Matt and Cameron Kuchar shot a tournament-record 54 on the second and final day of the PNC Championship to land their first title in the father-son ‌event on Sunday in Orlando, Fla.Playing a scramble format, ‌Team Kuchar carded ‍14 birdies, two eagles and just two pars for the 18-under-par round at ⁠Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. After starting the ⁠day with the lead, the Kuchars cruised to a ‍seven-stroke victory at 33-under 111.Matt Kuchar set up both of his team's eagles, first with a draw shot at the par-5 third that left Cameron an easy putt, then again at the par-5 18th when he stuck his shot inside 3 feet and could be seen fighting ‌through tears.It led to an outpouring of emotion afterwards from the 47-year-old PGA Tour vet, whose father, Peter, died early this year."I ‍don't know if you ⁠believe in karma, ‌if you believe in fate, whatever you believe in, there's something - something magical that does exist," Matt Kuchar said. "I'm a believer in God that Dad is up above looking down, and that - what happened on 18, I could hardly stand up and hit a shot. For me to hit it to a foot, makes me think there's something more out there. (I) just miss - miss Pops."Cameron Kuchar explained just how fun it was ​to win the event ‌with his dad and to play excellent golf along the way."That was amazing," he said. "I ⁠wasn't keeping as ‍much track today as I was Monday but I probably made five or six solo birdies. Every now and then, I would let him know, ‘All right, I made that one myself.' But he also made a few solos and he'd come right ​back and he'd go, ‘That was all me right there.' It was just fun just going back-and-forth like that."Team Love (Davis Love III and Dru Love) shot a 58 to move to 26 under par and tie for second with Team Daly (John Daly, John Daly II), who carded a 59.Rounding out the top five, both Team Korda (Nelly Korda, Petr Korda) ⁠and Team Stricker (Steve Stricker, Izzi Stricker) finished at 25 under. Both teams shot 59 in the final round.

The Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) launched Monday the ‘Media Encyclopedia: Towards a New Reading of the Structure of the Media Concept’ project at a ceremony held at the Sanad Doha Club in Msheireb, in the heart of the capital.The event was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, CEO of the QMC, along with a number of officials, editors-in-chief, journalists, experts, and researchers in the media field.This launch marks one of the most prominent pioneering Arab knowledge projects, being the first of its kind in the Arab world. The project aims to enhance the presence of Arab media knowledge and enrich digital and print libraries with rigorous, scholarly content that combines specialisation with accessibility, while restoring the value of authentic and precise media terminology.The launch of the encyclopedia comes within the framework of a comprehensive scientific vision adopted by the QMC. This vision is based on providing an objective analysis of media, its history, concepts, and institutions, drawing upon its Arab heritage and the broader spectrum of human thought.This approach aims to reformulate modern media knowledge in a sophisticated Arabic language that combines academic rigour with accessible presentation. In this context, the encyclopedia aims to support media knowledge in Arabic, meet the needs of academics and professionals, and keep pace with the rapid transformations in the digital environment.It also seeks to document media concepts, theories, prominent figures, and influential institutions within a scientific and methodological framework that enhances empowerment and aligns with the evolution of contemporary Arab media discourse.Mohammed Sal’an al-Marri, the encyclopedia’s supervisor, expressed his deep appreciation to all those who contributed to the completion of this project, including the corporation’s staff, experts, and researchers. He emphasised that the encyclopedia is the fruit of a robust intellectual collaboration aimed at producing a high-quality media resource that serves researchers and practitioners, providing them with a reliable reference that evolves step by step to meet the needs of the Arab media landscape. The launch event featured a panel discussion titled “Towards a New Reading of the Structure of the Media Concept”, which aligned with the project’s objectives of enhancing terminological awareness and developing understanding tools for specialists and those interested in the field.The session was moderated by journalist Abdulrahman al-Shammari, with the participation of Dr Mohammed al-Khatib, Professor of Linguistics at al-Azhar University and member of the Scientific Committee of the Doha Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language; Dr Hanan Ahmed al-Fayyad, faculty member at Qatar University; and journalist Ahmed al-Sheikh.The panellists discussed the evolution of media terminology over time, the importance of re-evaluating it in light of modern technological advancements, and the connection between news and its scientific context and historical reality, thus contributing to the unification of conceptual frameworks within the Arab media landscape.The QMC ensured that the encyclopedia is available in both written and audio formats via a dedicated online platform, allowing access to the content at any time.The first volume of the media encyclopedia is scheduled to be launched at the Doha International Book Fair 2026, while the foundation is preparing to release the next volume in May as part of a periodic publishing plan that maintains the project’s momentum and allows for ongoing research contributions to support its sustainability and development.

Roberto Mancini’s arrival at Al Sadd marks a major test not just for the celebrated Italian coach, but also for Qatar’s most decorated football club.For Mancini, who turns 61 at the end of this month, returning to the Gulf barely a year after a turbulent stint with Saudi Arabia represents both a lucrative opportunity and a reputational gamble. He will reportedly earn up to €21mn over two and a half years — a windfall that extends his run as one of world football’s best-paid managers.Al Sadd confirmed the appointment Thursday, announcing that Mancini had signed a two-and-a-half-season deal and sharing photos of him holding the club shirt. “Benvenuto Signor Mancini,” the club posted on social media, using the Italian word for “welcome,” without revealing financial details.Mancini began his managerial career in Italy with Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter Milan. Al Jasra Cultural and Social Club organised a lecture titled “Our Ethics and Life: Values in a Time of Transformations,” presented by Dr Kamal Aslan, a visiting professor at Qatar University who holds a PhD in Ethics with honours and has contributed to numerous research projects for the Al Jazeera Center for Studies.The lecture was moderated by writer Hanan Badie, who welcomed Dr Aslan and the attendees, emphasising the importance of ethics in building a sustainable society and providing individuals with a sense of security and the ability to face challenges.During the lecture, Dr Aslan raised several fundamental questions about the need for values and ethics, the impact of their absence on society, the causes of the current ethical crisis, and the means of instilling values and building sound behaviour.He pointed out that rapid transformations in various fields necessitate ethical awareness and the ability to adapt without compromising core values, warning against succumbing to a utilitarian ethics that justifies any means, regardless of their violation of religion, customs, and traditions.He explained that the absence of ethics has had repercussions on multiple levels, including the economic sphere with its prevalence of fraud, exploitation, and monopolies. As well as the social sphere with its disintegration of families and deviance; the political sphere with its corruption and hypocrisy; the intellectual sphere with its theft of other peoples' efforts and the dissemination of corrupt ideologies; and the media sphere with its misinformation and deception.This is compounded by deficiencies in the educational system, which has failed to instill values in schools and colleges. He added that knowledge alone is insufficient; it must be translated into practical behaviour.

In front of a large crowd that filled the stands of Qatar Racing Club’s (QRC) dedicated drift arena, the opening round of the 2025–2026 Qatar Drift Championship (QDC) concluded with the participation of an elite group of drivers from across the Gulf region and beyond. The event is being held under the patronage of QRC Chairman HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani.The competition, which spanned two full days, began with the qualifying sessions on the first day. At the end of the qualifying sessions, driver Ahmed al-Amri topped the standings with a total of 90.33 points, ahead of Salem al-Sarraf, who secured second place with 86.67 points. Defending champion Ali Makhseed settled for third, just four points behind al-Sarraf.According to the results of the qualifying sessions, the drivers were placed into the tandem battle bracket, which took place on Friday and featured fierce matchups full of surprises.On the left side of the bracket, Ahmed al-Amri, the top qualifier, advanced to the second round after defeating his rival Saud al-Attiyah, who had finished last season as runner-up in the National category. Meanwhile, Ahmed Abu Rshaid prevailed over Mesiar Abu Sheibah in an exciting battle. Abdullah al-Muhtasib also advanced after defeating Mubarak al-Dosari, while Mazen Nasser moved on automatically following the withdrawal of Khaled al-Shafie, who was forced to retire due to an accident during Friday’s pre-event tests.On the opposite side of the bracket, Salem al-Sarraf, second in qualifying, overcame Mohammed al-Jaber, while Yasser al-Shatir advanced after defeating Mohammed al-Azmi. Al Rayyan were held to a 1-1 draw by Oman’s Al Nahda in the second round of the Gulf Club Champions League at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Musacat Wednesday.The hosts took the lead through Cameroonian striker Olomo in the 55th minute, but Rodrigo Moreno restored parity for Al Rayyan ten minutes later with a fine header. Despite dominating the closing stages and missing a penalty opportunity, Al Rayyan had to settle for a point from their second outing of the tournament.Al Rayyan had won their opening match in emphatic fashion 5-0 against Yemen’s Al Tadamun Hadramaut.
