Qatar Chamber, in co-operation with the Young Entrepreneurs Club (YEC) and several supporting entities, organised a virtual workshop titled ‘Don’t Risk Your Future: Basics of Financial and Legal Awareness for Youth’, with the participation of entrepreneurs and interested participants.  Delivered by lawyer Aisha al-Madeed, the workshop focused on enhancing financial and legal awareness among youth, covering key topics such as financial planning, legal rights and obligations, risk management, and supporting entrepreneurs in addressing legal and financial challenges.  Fatima al-Kuwari, head of the Training and Development Department at Qatar Chamber, said the workshop reflects the chamber’s commitment to equipping youth with the tools needed to manage their financial and legal future and make informed decisions.  She added that the chamber continues to develop training programmes aligned with market needs and praised the cooperation with partner entities in supporting youth capabilities and professional and financial stability.

Visit Qatar, in partnership with Qatar Challenge Racing Club (Samla), has announced the return of the Samla International Race, set to take place on January 23, 2027. The upcoming edition will once again welcome male and female participants from around the world to compete in one of Qatar’s most demanding endurance races.First launched in 2017, the Samla Race has established itself as a key fixture on Qatar’s sports calendar. As the official partner of the international edition, Visit Qatar continues to support initiatives that strengthen the country’s position as a leading destination for sports tourism and large-scale international events.The Samla International Race is recognised for pushing athletes to their physical and mental limits. Spanning a total distance of 100km, the race is completed within a 12-hour cut-off time and features four endurance disciplines: swimming, running, cycling, and kayaking. Each stage is designed to test stamina, resilience, and versatility across varied terrain and conditions. 

Al Rayyan produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab 3-0 and lift the Gulf Club Champions League trophy at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. The final remained finely balanced for an hour before the match turned decisively in Al Rayyan’s favour after Al Shabab were reduced to ten men when Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco was sent off for a second booking in the 59th minute. David Garcia broke the deadlock two minutes later, while Aleksandar Mitrovic and Roger Guedes added further goals late on to seal an emphatic victory for The Lions and cap a memorable night in front of their supporters. Both teams created promising openings in a competitive first half marked by physical challenges, with Al Shabab coming closest to scoring just before the break when Hammam al-Hammami found himself one-on-one with Al Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmud Abunada, but failed to convert. Al Rayyan seized control shortly after the hour mark as Garcia rose high to meet a precise delivery from Thiago Silva on the right and powered home a well-placed header to give his side the lead. The advantage was doubled in the 79th minute when Mitrovic climbed above the defence to head in a quality corner from Rodrigo Moreno, leaving Al Shabab struggling to respond. Al Rayyan’s dominance was underlined just two minutes later as they struck again. Ahmed al-Minhali delivered a ball from the left inside the penalty area, and Mitrovic cleverly set it up for Guedes, who calmly finished to complete the scoring. The triumph marked Al Rayyan’s second trophy of the season following their QSL Cup success, and their second title since coach Vicente Moreno took charge last month. 

Al Rayyan will look to crown their impressive campaign with silverware when they take on Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab in the final of the Gulf Club Champions League Thursday at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium at 6:45pm. The Qatari side booked their place in the final with a convincing 2-0 victory over Kuwait’s Al Qadsia in the semi-final, while Al Shabab advanced after edging Iraq’s Zakho FC on penalties in the other last-four clash. Al Rayyan coach Vicente Moreno acknowledged the challenge awaiting his side but expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the decisive encounter. “The team’s preparations for the final were good, and the focus is currently on delivering the expected level in order to win and be crowned with the Gulf title,” Moreno said. “The final match will be different and requires the highest level of concentration. We must be cautious against a strong and distinguished team that includes high-level players.” Moreno added that playing at home could provide an added boost for his side. Al Rayyan enters the final with high morale, especially since the match is being held at the club’s stadium,” he said. Midfielder Julien De Sart echoed his coach’s optimism, stressing the team’s determination to deliver in front of their supporters. “The team is ready to face Al Shabab and deliver a performance that will help us win the championship title,” De Sart said. “The final match will be difficult for both teams as each side seeks victory. We invite Al Rayyan fans, as their support will motivate the players to perform at their best level.” On the other side, Al Shabab coach Noureddine Zekri expressed confidence in his team’s ability to rise to the occasion and end their long wait for silverware. “I am confident in the team’s ability to deliver a great performance in the final and win the Gulf title,” Zekri said. “Al Shabab has a great history and a historic opportunity to return to the podium after 12 years. Al Rayyan has shown outstanding levels in the tournament and will be playing at home in front of their fans.” Striker Abderrazak Hamdallah said he is fully prepared for the challenge and eager to help his team succeed. “I am fully ready for the final match and determined to win the title and return the team to the podium,” Hamdallah said. “We will enter the match with great enthusiasm and aim to please the fans by winning the title.” 

Julian Draxler is relishing the prospect of facing Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr Club after helping Qatari side Al Ahli defeat Al Hussein 3-1 on Sunday to reach the AFC Champions League Two West Zone semi-final.The playmaker created the opening goal for Erik Exposito before scoring the second directly from a corner kick. Michel Vlap added the third late on as Qatar’s Al Ahli set up a semi-final against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Tuesday.Having previously played with Schalke 04, Paris Saint-Germain as well the German national team, Draxler will be facing several Al Nassr players who he is acquainted with and expects a tough challenge. “Obviously it will be tough for us because they (Al Nassr) have a lot of big players. Most of whom I already know from my time in Europe. However, we have nothing to lose, we are in the semi-final so let’s see what we can do,” said the German.“It was a tough game (against Al Hussein) but a big step for us. We started really well but after that we had some struggles but all in all, we deserved to win. We have had a good campaign and now we are looking forward to the game against Al Nassr.”Al Hussein were left to rue a missed opportunity, having pulled themselves back into the tie through Yousef Qashi’s 21st minute equaliser, with head coach Franco da Silva not hiding his disappointment.“We are certainly not satisfied with the result, as we prepared well for this match and had high hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals,” said da Silva. “It was a difficult match, and we conceded goals from set-pieces, but our players were determined and disciplined throughout. Al Ahli deserved the win, and now we will return to the domestic league and focus on the two remaining competitions.”Meanwhile, Al Nassr’s head coach Jorge Jesus believes that his side must strive for the title after a commanding 4-0 win over Al Wasl FC in their quarter-final tie on Sunday.Fielding his strongest XI for the first time this campaign, goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Inigo Martinez, Abdulelah al-Amri and Sadio Mane kept Al Nassr in the hunt for a double with the side also leading the Saudi Pro League.“The match looked easy but the opposing team is a very good team, they are very organised,” said Jesus. “I like them, they are very tactically organised. Now, it’s 17 consecutive wins, for this I congratulate the players and the Al Nassr fans for the victory. This competition is very important to us. Al Nassr has never won this competition, no Saudi team has ever won this competition, so we took it seriously from the start. We could have been better in some areas today but everyone played to the best they could.”There was disappointment for Rui Vitoria and his Al Wasl team after a slow start saw them having too much to chase with Al Nassr 3-0 up after just 26 minutes. The 56-year-old was able to galvanise his Emirati side into an improved second half performance but it wasn’t enough to prevent them from exiting the competition.“The game was not what we expected, result wise,” said Vitoria. “We didn’t start well and weren’t aggressive in the first half. We let them play and their quality up front made it difficult for us. We changed in the second half and played with a different attitude and had more balance in the game. We had our opportunities but didn’t capitalise.” 

Al Arabi Club emerged champions of the 13th edition of the Qatar Basketball Cup after defeating Al Shamal 77-71 in the final Thursday at Al Gharafa Hall. Al Arabi raised their tally to five titles –their third consecutive triumph –setting a record for the most Qatar Cup wins and surpassing Al Gharafa’s four titles. Meanwhile, Qatar SC, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah each hold one title. Al Shamal’s Tyree Quannell Crump was the game’s top scorer with 36 points, while Al Arabi’s Elmedin Kikanovic led his team with 28 points. Following the match, Mohammed bin Saad Al-Mughaseeb, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Sheikh Tamim bin Fahd Al-Thani, President of Al Arabi Club, Abdullah Shamsan Al-Sada, Vice-President of Al Shamal Club, and Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari, Secretary-General of the Qatar Basketball Federation, presented the trophy and gold medals to the champions along with a financial prize of QR600,000. Al Shamal received silver medals and a prize of QR400,000. Al Arabi had reached the final after a marathon semi-final against Al Rayyan, decided in overtime with a 104-103 victory. Al Shamal qualified by defeating Al Wakrah 71-56 in the other semi-final. 

A cultural event in Doha highlighted the evolving role of media in society, as Mohammed bin Salhan al-Marri launched two books exploring public awareness and media responsibility.The thought-provoking gathering hosted by Siraj Cultural Club in Doha brought together readers, media professionals and intellectuals, where a book signing event under the theme “When Thought Meets the Reader was organised.” The event featured the launch of two new publications by media professional and author Mohammed bin Salhan al-Marri, titled Security Media and Before We Listen, both of which explore the complex relationship between media and its audience. Speaking at the event, al-Marri, who serves as the editor-in-chief of Darna Press, emphasised the importance of understanding how audiences interact with modern media. “Both books talk about the relationship between the recipient and the media, and how they deal with these means, how they understand them, how they interact with them,” he said. The book Before We Listen delves into the behaviour and perception of media consumers—highlighting the growing need for critical engagement in an age of information overload. Meanwhile, Security Media focuses on the relationship between media institutions and military bodies, examining how both sectors intersect in shaping public understanding. “Security Media talks about the concepts and practices that exist between the military institutions and the media in understanding this comprehensive relationship,” al-Marri explained, noting that society remains a shared space influenced by both. The event formed part of broader efforts by Siraj Cultural Club to enrich Qatar’s cultural landscape and encourage dialogue between writers and the public. Attendees were given the opportunity to engage directly with the author, reflecting the event’s aim of bridging the gap between thought and readership. At the core of al-Marri’s work lies a strong emphasis on responsibility within the media sector. “I started from the media responsibility that we have towards the society,” he said, underlining the ethical role of media in shaping awareness and public discourse. The discussion also touched on the evolving challenges facing media professionals today, particularly in balancing information delivery with societal impact. Through his publications, al-Marri seeks to prompt reflection on how media messages are produced, interpreted and consumed. As Qatar continues to position itself as a hub for cultural and intellectual exchange, such initiatives highlight the importance of literature and dialogue in addressing contemporary issues. By bringing together ideas, voices and audiences, the evening underscored a simple yet powerful message: meaningful engagement with media begins not just with listening, but with understanding. 

Two matches will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, to kick off the Qatar Basketball Cup for men for the 2025-2026 season.The first match will be between Al Sadd and Al Ahli at Al Rayyan Sports Club Hall in the preliminary round.The winner will advance to face Al Arabi in the quarterfinals on April 11.The second match is the first of the quarterfinals, featuring Al Rayyan against Al Khor.Al Rayyan will be looking to bounce back from their league loss to Al Arabi, while Al Khor hope to pull off an upset and continue their journey in the tournament.The quarterfinals will continue on Thursday at Al Gharafa Sports Club Hall, with Al Wakrah facing Qatar SC and Al Gharafa taking on Al Shamal in two evenly matched encounters.

The International Energy Agency ‌(IEA) is consulting with governments in Asia and Europe on the ‌release of ⁠more stockpiled oil "if ‌necessary" due to the Iran war, ‌Executive Director Fatih Birol said on Monday."If it is necessary, of course, ⁠we will do it. We look at the conditions, we will analyse, assess the markets and discuss with our member countries," Birol told the National Press Club in Canberra, at the start of a world tour.IEA member nations agreed on March 11 to release a record 400mn barrels of oil from strategic stockpiles to combat the spike in ​global crude prices. The drawdown represented 20% of overall stocks.There would not be a specific crude price level to trigger another release, Birol said."A stock release will help ‌to comfort the markets, ⁠but this is not ​the solution. It will only help to reduce the pain ​in the economy.”The IEA chief began his world tour in Canberra as the Asia Pacific is at the forefront of the oil crisis, he said, given its reliance on oil and other crucial products like fertiliser and helium transiting the Strait of Hormuz.After meeting Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Birol will travel to Japan later this week before a Group of Seven meeting.He described the crisis in the Middle East as "very severe" and worse than the two oil shocks of the ‌1970s, as well as the impact ‌of the Russia-Ukraine war ⁠on gas, put together.The war on Iran had taken 11mn barrels ⁠of oil per day from ⁠global supply, more than the two prior oil shocks combined."The single most important solution to this problem is opening the Hormuz Strait," he said."The depth of the problem was not well appreciated by the decision makers around the world,” he said of his decision to begin speaking publicly three weeks into ​the war.Stockpile drawdowns are only a portion of what the IEA could do, he said.Measures outlined by the IEA, such as lowering speed limits or implementing work-from-home measures, had reduced energy use when implemented in Europe in 2022, but each nation would need to decide how best to enact fuel savings, Birol said.He said that while Australia’s liquid fuel holdings were lower than IEA regulations, the current government had done much to improve them ‌and that 30 ​days of diesel was a "solid number”. 

Al Jasra Cultural and Social Club, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, is organising its annual Ramadan competition as part of its ongoing efforts to promote religious and cultural awareness and instill intellectual values in young people. The competition targets young men and women aged 15 to 35, with daily questions published on the club’s social media accounts and in local newspapers, allowing for the widest possible public participation. The initiative aims to encourage research and exploration of religious and cultural topics and to revive a spirit of intellectual competition during the holy month. The competition includes a series of questions covering diverse Qur’anic and cultural topics. The club explained that participation requires submitting all answers at once before the deadline, adhering to the announced conditions, which include providing the full name and mobile number, and ensuring the accuracy of personal information. The club also noted that a draw will be held amid the correct answers to select the winners, with each winner receiving a prize of QR1,000. Prizes will be awarded immediately after identity verification. The club also clarified that the deadline for submitting answers is the 15th of Shawwal, 1447 AH, corresponding to April 3, and that the winners’ names will be announced through the club’s social media channels and in newspapers. This competition is part of the annual Ramadan events programme organised by Al-Jasra Club, affirming its cultural and social role in disseminating knowledge and fostering positive interaction among community members during the holy month of Ramadan. 

On a charged Ramadan night of fierce competition and edge-of-your-seat finales, the fourth and penultimate round of the 2025-2026 Qatar Drag Race Championship roared to a close at the Qatar Racing Club speed track. The round spanned three days: qualifying on the first two days and final eliminations on Friday, ending with the crowning of the top three winners in all eight categories.The event is held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani. In the INDEX 10.00 category, the final race featured a showdown between Abdulaziz al-Hail and Ahmed Hassan. Hassan had previously claimed the titles of the opening two rounds and was aiming for a third this season. Meanwhile, al-Hail was making his first appearance in a final race; however, that did not prevent him from capturing his maiden championship title, leaving Hassan in second place. The INDEX 9.00 category witnessed a completely new podium lineup this round, as Rameeh al-Rumaih secured his first title of the season with Bader al-Foudri finishing second. In the INDEX 8.50 (Cars) category, Hamdan al-Kaabi celebrated his second consecutive victory, earning his second title of the season. This time, he triumphed over Hamad al-Ajmi in the final. Over the eighth mile, the three car categories delivered fierce battles. In INDEX 4.80, Mohammed al-Furaih reached his third straight final and claimed his first title, defeating Rashid al-Juhani, while round two winner Saeed al-Balushi finished third. Al-Balushi returned to the podium once again - this time from the top step - after winning the INDEX 4.50 category title, marking his second triumph in this class. He secured victory over his brother Rashid, who faced him in the final race. Rashid, in turn, finished second for the second consecutive round, while Ibrahim Abbas Ibrahim, champion of the previous two rounds, claimed third place. Rashid al-Balushi made up for his earlier final defeat to his brother by winning the Super Street category final against Mohammed Ali Mohammed. This victory marked his third title in the category, following his wins in the first and second rounds. Al-Ansari claims two bike titles The INDEX 8.50 Bike class drew the round’s largest field, with 30 riders battling through eliminations. In the final, Abdullah al-Ansari - winner of the opening two rounds - defeated Shihab Bourbaa once again to claim his third title of the season. Bourbaa took second, while Mohammed Ali finished third. Al-Ansari then doubled his success in the Street Bike category, winning the final against Ghanem al-Dhaheri. Abdulwahab Bouqmaz secured third place, marking his second podium finish of the season. QRC General Manager Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani crowned the top three winners in each category.
