On a charged Ramadan night of fierce competition and edge-of-your-seat finales, the fourth and penultimate round of the 2025-2026 Qatar Drag Race Championship roared to a close at the Qatar Racing Club speed track. The round spanned three days: qualifying on the first two days and final eliminations on Friday, ending with the crowning of the top three winners in all eight categories.The event is held under the patronage of QRC Chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani. In the INDEX 10.00 category, the final race featured a showdown between Abdulaziz al-Hail and Ahmed Hassan. Hassan had previously claimed the titles of the opening two rounds and was aiming for a third this season. Meanwhile, al-Hail was making his first appearance in a final race; however, that did not prevent him from capturing his maiden championship title, leaving Hassan in second place. The INDEX 9.00 category witnessed a completely new podium lineup this round, as Rameeh al-Rumaih secured his first title of the season with Bader al-Foudri finishing second. In the INDEX 8.50 (Cars) category, Hamdan al-Kaabi celebrated his second consecutive victory, earning his second title of the season. This time, he triumphed over Hamad al-Ajmi in the final. Over the eighth mile, the three car categories delivered fierce battles. In INDEX 4.80, Mohammed al-Furaih reached his third straight final and claimed his first title, defeating Rashid al-Juhani, while round two winner Saeed al-Balushi finished third. Al-Balushi returned to the podium once again - this time from the top step - after winning the INDEX 4.50 category title, marking his second triumph in this class. He secured victory over his brother Rashid, who faced him in the final race. Rashid, in turn, finished second for the second consecutive round, while Ibrahim Abbas Ibrahim, champion of the previous two rounds, claimed third place. Rashid al-Balushi made up for his earlier final defeat to his brother by winning the Super Street category final against Mohammed Ali Mohammed. This victory marked his third title in the category, following his wins in the first and second rounds. Al-Ansari claims two bike titles The INDEX 8.50 Bike class drew the round’s largest field, with 30 riders battling through eliminations. In the final, Abdullah al-Ansari - winner of the opening two rounds - defeated Shihab Bourbaa once again to claim his third title of the season. Bourbaa took second, while Mohammed Ali finished third. Al-Ansari then doubled his success in the Street Bike category, winning the final against Ghanem al-Dhaheri. Abdulwahab Bouqmaz secured third place, marking his second podium finish of the season. QRC General Manager Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani crowned the top three winners in each category.

As part of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS)’s Ramadan Campaign 1447 AH, themed “Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive”, the daily On-the-Go Ramadan Iftar initiative at Katara Cultural Village has been warmly received by visitors. Now in its third consecutive year and sponsored by LuLu Hypermarket, the initiative is carried out by QRCS volunteers who distribute Iftar meals at the Ramadan Cannon area and to motorists at sunset. A total of 350 meals are distributed daily, totalling 10,150 throughout the campaign. Visitors have praised the initiative for reinforcing the spiritual values of Ramadan, particularly among children and youth. Beyond Qatar, QRCS continues to extend support to vulnerable communities worldwide through Ramadan food assistance projects. In Gaza, 17,833 food parcels are being distributed to displaced families at a total cost of $1.85mn, helping strengthen their resilience and enabling them to observe the holy month with dignity. In Afghanistan, QRCS has launched Ramadan food distributions for vulnerable families in the remote and mountainous provinces of Paktika and Zabul, in partnership with the Afghan Red Crescent Society and in coordination with local authorities and community leaders. Each parcel contains 94kg of essential food items, including flour, rice, sugar, beans, vegetable oil, dates, salt, and green tea. So far, 400 parcels have been distributed in Nematabad District (Paktika) and 364 in Mezana District (Zabul). Distributions will continue in Chahar Baran and Gomal districts, with 200 parcels allocated to each, bringing the total to 1,164 parcels at a cost of QR700,000. Two QRCS teams conducted field assessments in advance to identify priority needs. In Tanzania, QRCS concluded its Ramadan Iftar project in cooperation with the Tanzania Red Cross Society, distributing food parcels to 168 families—benefiting 1,176 individuals—across five districts in the Dar es Salaam region: Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke, Ubungo, and Kigamboni. In Chad, QRCS partnered with Organisation Médicale Tchadienne and the Red Cross of Chad to distribute Ramadan parcels containing 45kg of rice, flour, sugar, and vegetable oil to 160 families, supporting 1,280 people. Preparations are also under way in Albania, where 500 Ramadan food parcels will be distributed by the Albanian Red Cross to 2,000 vulnerable individuals across several counties. In Somalia’s Northeast State, and in the presence of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, 1,951 one-month food parcels were distributed in Laascaanood, benefiting 10,806 people. Each parcel contained 66.5kg of essential items, including flour, rice, sugar, vegetable oil, infant formula, and dates. The assistance, valued at $184,931, also supported 210 patients with respiratory diseases and 690 persons with disabilities. QRCS has invited donors to contribute to its Ramadan campaign through its website, mobile app, donor service hotline, home collection service, or via bank transfer to designated accounts. 

The 13th edition of the Ashghal Ramadan Tournament kicked off, with approximately 186 players competing in seven games in a sporting atmosphere that reflects the spirit of camaraderie and cooperation among the Authority’s employees during the holy month. The Social Annex at the Assets Affairs Building of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), located on Wholesale Market Street, hosts the “Ashghal Ramadan Individual Games Tournament 2026”, with 132 employees competing in five games: padel, table tennis, foosball, billiards, and PlayStation. On another front, Ashghal is also participating in the Ramadan Sports Festival 2026, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation, with two football teams and six basketball (3x3) teams competing in the team sports category. Ashghal noted that the Ashghal Ramadan Tournament 2026 marks the 13th edition of this important annual event, which contributes to strengthening professional and human ties among employees by fostering team spirit and enhancing institutional belonging—particularly as the strong turnout reflects employees’ eagerness to engage in sports and social activities. Ashghal looks forward to delivering a distinguished edition this year in terms of the level of competition and quality of organisation, and to achieving the tournament’s sporting and social objectives during the holy month, in a manner that reflects Ashghal’s spirit and institutional values.

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Ramadan tournament got underway on Tuesday evening with men’s shooting competitions (individual and family categories) and men’s singles table tennis matches. The tournament, organised for QOC employees and their families, runs until March 5 at the Lusail International Shooting Complex, in a vibrant Ramadan atmosphere filled with unity, energy, and sporting spirit.The opening day featured shooting and table tennis competitions, along with traditional games and recreational activities for children. A range of community services were also provided by the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), Qatar Diabetes Association, Cyber Sports Events Center, and Naseem Medical Centre. The program included an Olympic quiz segment and the distribution of prizes to participants.In the shooting (singles) event, Khalid Nasser al-Rumaihi claimed first place, while Mohammed Ahmed al-Rumaihi finished second. In the shooting (doubles) event, the duo of Khalid Nasser al-Rumaihi and Abdulrahman al-Rumaihi secured first place, with Salem Abdulhalim and Abdulrahman Abdulhalim coming in second. Meanwhile, in the men’s table tennis singles event, Mohammed Abdulsalam captured first place, while Khalid Al-Akkad finished as runner-up.This year’s tournament includes five diverse sports: shooting, table tennis (introduced for the first time), padel, football (making its debut), and beach volleyball. The variety reflects the QOC’s commitment to expanding its sports programs and enhancing competitiveness and renewal in each edition.Football competitions will take place on March 1 and 2, featuring teams from the General Secretariat, the Shooting Federation, the Procurement and Logistics Department, the Public Relations Department, and the Sports Events Department. Beach volleyball matches will be held from March 3 and 5, with teams representing the President’s Office, Sports Events Department, Procurement and Logistics Department, Shooting Federation, Public Relations Department, and Sports Affairs Department.Mana Ahmed al-Jael, Director of the QOC Ramadan Tournament 2026, confirmed that this year’s edition includes 250 participants. He explained that the addition of table tennis and football came in response to a staff survey, allowing participants to select sports that suit their physical abilities and personal interests.He also noted that the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation, as the host entity, will participate for the first time in football and beach volleyball competitions, after successfully hosting five previous Ramadan editions at its venues. 

Athletes from five disability categories competed in a special needs table tennis tournament at Aspire Zone this Ramadan, highlighting Qatar’s commitment to inclusive sport, safety and community empowerment.A special needs table tennis competition held at Aspire Zone, as part of the annual Ramadan Sports Festival, has drawn increased participation this year, underlining Qatar’s focus on inclusion and accessible community sport.The event, hosted by Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) in collaboration with the Qatar Paralympic Committee, brought together athletes from five disability categories: deaf, blind, sitting mobility, standing mobility and mental mobility.“We do our best to accommodate all five disabilities at the same time,” said Noha Tawfiq, senior events production member and member of the Ramadan Sports Festival Committee at AZF.Tawfiq explained that specialised adaptations are introduced to ensure accessibility for all participants. “We are using this special table for the blind that depends on the hearing where they can use their hearing ability to play and to score,” she said, noting that different formats of table tennis are designed to suit each category.The festival has been running inclusive sporting activities for more than a decade. “We have been doing this for more than 10 years. We have very special attention for the special needs community,” Tawfiq said.Addressing parental concerns, she emphasised strict safety measures. “They’re doing the sports under the supervision of Aspire Team as well as the Qatar Paralympic Committee and all the safety measures are being dealt with very, very accurately to make sure that they are safe and not only safe but happy”.Organisers say the psychological impact is equally significant, noting that “it’s a very important feeling that these people feel that they are heroes and that they win and that they are accepted by the community, just like normal individuals,” Tawfiq added.Hussain Alhaddad, member of the Federation for Special Needs and competition manager at Aspire, said the tournament is a regular Ramadan fixture and noted that participation has grown.While athletes with disabilities compete in multiple sports, including goalball, athletics and football, he described table tennis as particularly accessible.“For table tennis, this is a very easy match for them, a very easy game. That’s why we make it every year,” he said.Alhaddad stressed the rehabilitative and social value of sport. “The sport is very important because they will move their body... for rehabilitation and also to release their stress,” he said. “They will feel like they are one of this community. They can play, they can do everything.”He encouraged families to engage with structured sporting pathways. “If anybody knows someone with special needs, he can send him to our federation for sports for special needs and register him, and also let him be part of this community,” he said.As Ramadan continues, organisers say the message is clear: inclusive sport is not only about competition, but about belonging, dignity and creating heroes within the community.
