MoCI launches new e-services aiming faster transactions

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has launched 20 new electronic services on its official website as part of the 2024–30 digital transformation strategy. The initiative aims to achieve excellence in governmental service provision and enhance user experience through full digital transformation in line with National Vision 2030. Affirming that the launch of these e-Services marks a significant step towards comprehensive digital transformation, MOCI said this development contributes to faster transactions, streamlined procedures, and enhanced service quality, ultimately strengthening Qatar’s business environment and competitiveness regionally and internationally. The ministry said users can access the new e-Services via its website through the e-Services section, using the National Authentication System (NAS) to ensure data security and confidentiality. The initiative seeks to simplify procedures, accelerate transaction processing, and improve efficiency, thereby enhancing services for consumers and investors and strengthening institutional excellence in government service provision. The newly launched services cover a wide range of MOCI's activities, including specialised licensing, market monitoring for goods and services, and price assessment for commercial establishments. They also include services related to competition and consumer protection, and combating commercial fraud, such as product recalls, handling and tracking complaints, and enabling users to submit complaints electronically and monitor inspection activities. Additionally, the new services integrate directly with the General Authority of Customs to facilitate product registration after customs clearance. Users can also view company information, track applications, and monitor their status through this service. These e-Services serve all user categories interacting with the ministry, including companies with recalled products, citizens and residents reporting consumer law violations, and business owners registering goods and services.

Kahramaa wins prize for innovation in smart electric vehicle charging platform project

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) won the "Gartner Eye on Innovation Awards for Power and Utilities" for the "Smart Electric Vehicle Charging Platform Project - Phase Two", which represents a qualitative leap in enhancing digital transformation and sustainability in the State of Qatar. In a press release today, Kahramaa said the Smart Electric Vehicle Charging Platform project came as a response to challenges faced by electric vehicle users, where there was fragmentation in charging applications, low usage rates, in addition to the lack of coordination among service providers, and the absence of vital data necessary for making evidence-based decisions on actual usage. Kahramaa launched the first phase of the platform in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to create a unified platform that brings together all charging service providers. The project was developed in the second phase to provide users with the platform's capability for immediate access to all stations, with direct information about their availability and booking options, along with providing accurate usage analytics that contribute to raising operational efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. President of Kahramaa, Engineer Abdulla bin Ali Al Dheyab, said: "We have succeeded in unifying the user experience and providing accurate data that supports national policies, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Choosing our project as a semi-finalist in the Gartner Global Innovation Award confirms Kahramaa's commitment to leadership in digital transformation and sustainability and reflects our team's efforts in providing innovative solutions that serve the community and support the state's goals of reducing carbon emissions." The project began with a pilot phase in 2024, and the second phase was developed in 2025. Among the most prominent results were more than 2,980 application downloads; integration of more than 130 electric charging stations; saving more than 140,000 liters of fuel, reducing more than 0.3 million kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions; accelerating the station-finding process by 80%; achieving report accuracy exceeding 95% for analytics; and raising the level of coordination among service providers, users, and regulatory entities. The "Gartner Eye on Innovation Awards for Power and Utilities" is one of the most important global awards in the field of digital innovation for the energy and utilities sector, where the 2025 edition witnessed record participation from institutions around the world, with competition divided into three main regions: the Americas, Europe, Kahramaa obtained the semi-finalist position at the Asia and Pacific region level, in an achievement that reflects Qatar's leadership in the fields of digital transformation and sustainability and strengthens its position as a regional hub for innovation in clean energy.

KAHRAMAA completes customer data update project and advances transformation towards Qatar National Vision 2030

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has announced the completion of its strategic Customer Database Update Project, which comes as part of its comprehensive plan for digital transformation and the development of public services infrastructure. This project represents key step in supporting the State’s progress towards achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the 3rd National Development Strategy (NDS3), by enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability in the electricity and water sectors.The project included updating more than 900,000 reading meters, verifying the accuracy of over 7 million records, and maintaining or replacing more than 13,000 service boxes. In addition, reviewing customer data has enhanced communication accuracy through updated customer profiles, ensured service delivery in line with the highest quality standards, and improved performance and network safety by detecting illegible connections and addressing damaged cables. MCIT and Qatar Tourism host awareness workshop on Digital Transformation and AI

As part of their efforts to promote digital innovation in the tourism sector, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with Qatar Tourism, held an awareness workshop under the SMEs Go Digital Program, the national initiative aimed at supporting SMEs in adopting digital solutions.The workshop focused on showcasing the role of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) in driving innovation across hotels and tour operators. Two workshops have been organized in collaboration with Qatar Tourism emphasized the vital role of digital transformation in advancing the tourism industry, where participants explored practical AI applications that enhance customer experience, simplify operations, and open new avenues for SMEs growth.On this occasion, Faraj Jassim Abdulla, Director of the Digital Economy Department at MCIT, stated: "The SMEs Go Digital Program is a cornerstone of our strategy to foster a diverse and sustainable digital economy in Qatar. MoT strategy focus on sustainability, accessibility, digital transformation

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) Strategy 2025-30 focuses on environmental sustainability and digital transformation to ensure modern and inclusive transportation, a senior official has said.While talking to Qatar TV, Sheikha Dana bint Abdullah al-Thani, the head of the MoT’s Strategic Planning Department, said that the ministry’s strategy takes into account elements of environmental sustainability and digital transformation to ensure modern transportation that serves everyone.The MoT recently launched the strategy under the slogan Reaching Beyond Horizons.It features an ambitious roadmap focused on developing the transportation and mobility industry in Qatar and enhancing its role in economic growth, sustainability and innovation.The strategy is based on the ministry’s vision of “an integrated, secure, resilient, and sustainable transport ecosystem” and mission of “driving the development of the transport ecosystem towards high logistic efficiency while supporting the pillars of Qatar National Vision”.“The strategy is not limited to infrastructure, but rather focuses on people first and makes daily transportation a smoother and safer experience,” Sheikha Dana said. “The strategy takes into account elements of accessibility to serve everyone with high quality and sustainable efficiency.”One of the most prominent expected impacts of the strategy is reducing traffic congestion and travel time, which are hindrances to traffic safety, through developing roads and activating integrated public transportation while providing multiple flexible transportation options.These include public and smart transportation and bicycles in addition to improving air quality by reducing emissions and encouraging clean transportation methods.The MoT official said that the new strategy includes 42 initiatives and 152 projects.Sheikha Dana added that it represents a comprehensive roadmap for developing the country’s transportation sector, enabling economic growth through supporting logistics services and strengthening the mobility of people and goods as well as customer-centric services in addition to enhancing the utilisation of existing services and infrastructure.The projects and initiatives also ensure sustainability and resilience through policies and technologies that support reducing emissions and developing human capital.Sheikha Dana said that the strategy covers various transportation sectors including land and maritime transport.“There are supporting projects in the areas of digital transformation, sustainability and capacity development,” she stressed. “In its first phase, a group of vital projects and initiatives will be launched.”

Women lead Qatar digital transformation; 'records remarkable growth'

Female participants have occupied an impressive “70%” of the training seats allocated to Qatari nationals last year by the Qatar Digital Academy (QDA), which has played a crucial role in advancing women’s leadership in the country’s digital sector.In its 2024 annual report, the QDA stated that Qatari women demonstrated strong dedication by filling “1,150” of the total training seats available to nationals. This, the report further stated, underlines the academy’s commitment to empowering women in technology, positioning the Middle East as a global leader in digital inclusion.According to the report, this significant female participation has contributed substantially to the region’s digital transformation efforts, reflecting the country’s progressive approach to building an inclusive digital workforce in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Digital Agenda 2030.The report noted that the academy has implemented a comprehensive evaluation framework to ensure training effectiveness, measuring key areas, including instructor expertise, virtual training delivery, training materials quality, learning effectiveness, return on investment, and learning environment.The annual report also revealed that participant satisfaction ratings have been exceptionally high across all metrics, with instructor evaluation scoring “94.21%”, course organisation achieving “91.69%”, and achievement of course objectives reaching “91.14%”.Training materials and content scored “90.21%”, while training delivery methodology achieved “89.90%”, resulting in an overall satisfaction score of “91.43%”.Meanwhile, the report stated that the academy’s success aligns with the sixth pillar of the Digital Agenda 2030, which aims to empower society to drive digital transformation and promote sustainable development.“At the core of QDA’s mission is empowering individuals and organisations, focusing on developing digital skills and nurturing local talent to ensure a workforce that is future-ready for the digital economy’s demands.“In 2024, QDA expanded its training programmes to include all workforce segments, including non-ICT professionals, contributing to enhanced digital proficiency across various sectors,” the report stated.It further explained: “This expansion aligns with the Digital Agenda’s ambitious goal of creating 26,000 new job opportunities by 2030 and increasing the percentage of the workforce employed in ICT to 10%, focusing on developing advanced digital skills and increasing the proportion of highly skilled workers,” the report stated.In the report, Duha al-Buhendi, director of the Digital Society and Digital Competencies Department at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), stressed that the academy’s decision to include non-ICT government employees has resulted in remarkable growth, with training programmes increasing by “94%” and awarded certifications rising by “150%.”“The QDA’s strategy focuses on empowering non-ICT employees with essential skills, such as cybersecurity, privacy management, and modern digital applications like artificial intelligence (Al), and cloud computing, enhancing their efficiency and transforming them into a more capable and future-ready workforce,” the report also stated.During the Web Summit Qatar held in February this year, al-Buhendi and Alex Dai, executive vice president at Huawei Gulf North, signed a partnership initiative to provide government employees with educational opportunities in crucial digital fields, including cloud computing, information technology, IoT, and other emerging digital technologies.“Under the terms of the partnership initiative, Huawei will provide digital training courses to government employees, granting them access to the Huawei Talent Platform. Employees will be able to create their own accounts and enrol in a diverse range of training programs, offering a flexible learning experience tailored to their professional needs and schedules,” the MCIT website stated.

Ministry of Justice Implements Capacity Building Program in Digital Transformation

Represented by the Information Systems Department in cooperation with the Planning, Quality and Innovation Department, the Ministry of Justice implemented a capacity-building and digital culture program in the field of digital transformation.The program targeted three administrative levels within the ministry.The two-day program, held under the patronage and attendance of HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, and senior ministry officials, included a series of training workshops that presented detailed presentations on the stages of digital transformation, with a focus on mechanisms for adhering to the requirements and standards of digital transformation and data at the local and international levels.The program also highlighted ways to enhance digital culture within institutions, reviewed modern methodologies for digital transformation accelerators, and discussed ways to effectively employ emerging technologies in the government work environment, based on global best practices.The workshops extensively addressed the importance of cybersecurity in supporting digital transformation processes, presenting local and international case studies and discussing practical examples of the challenges and opportunities associated with digital transformation projects.The program embodies the Ministry of Justice's commitment to raising awareness and knowledge in the areas of digital transformation and data management, and enhancing participants' readiness to meet the requirements of the next digital era.
