School Olympic Program honours 24 players who joined national teams

The Organising Committee of the School Olympic Program (SOP) held a ceremony to honour promising athletes, who joined Qatar’s national teams through the program.The event was attended by Mohamed bin Yousef al-Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC); Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman al-Kuwari, Second Vice President of the QOC; Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid al-Buenain, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the SOP, along with several presidents and representatives of sports federations.A total of 24 male and female athletes were honoured during the ceremony. These talents were identified and developed through the SOP and have successfully represented Qatar’s national teams across seven sports: football, hockey, rugby, volleyball, shooting, and tennis.Al-Mana expressed his appreciation to His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, President of the QOC, for his continued support of the SOP. He noted that this backing reflects a clear vision and a sustainable investment in the development of Qatari sport by focusing on identifying and nurturing young talent within an integrated institutional framework.Al-Mana emphasized that the SOP represents one of the fundamental pathways in building a strong sporting base to support national teams in the future. He added that the inclusion of several players in the national squads is the result of joint efforts between sports and educational institutions.He also stressed the importance of providing an appropriate environment and continuous technical and administrative support to enable these athletes to continue their sporting journeys with confidence and stability, and to achieve further success that elevates Qatar’s name at regional and international competitions.Al-Buenain affirmed that the program has become a cornerstone in discovering sporting talent across various disciplines. He noted that the athletes honoured have demonstrated distinguished technical levels and proved their readiness to transition to higher competitive stages in the coming period.In his address during the ceremony, Sheikh Khalifa stated: “This gathering is not merely a recognition ceremony; it represents a milestone in evaluating and acknowledging the success of the Talent Identification Project, one of the executive initiatives within the School Olympic Program. The project was designed to serve as an organized link between the school, the sports federation, and the national team, within a clear and integrated pathway for champion development.”He added that the Ministry of Education has played a pivotal role in this system by empowering the school environment, supporting program implementation, and enhancing the role of schools and physical education teachers in the early identification and nomination of talent according to clear standards. He noted that the School Olympic Program then structures the discovery process, unifies procedures, and ensures a systematic transition of talented athletes from the school environment to the competitive pathway within an approved technical and administrative framework.

Ministry of Justice launches legal trainer preparation program

As part of the implementation of the Ministry of Justice's 2025-2030 strategic plan, which included initiatives and projects specializing in training, qualification, and development of legal and practical skills for various legal categories in the country, the ministry will launch a legal trainer preparation program for the first time starting from in November 2026, in a qualitative step aimed at enhancing the quality of legal training and improving the efficiency of trainers.The Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, the main center for legal training in the country, organized the Training of Trainers (TOT) program with the aim of preparing a qualified legal training cadre capable of carrying out training tasks in accordance with the best and latest global practices, and using modern and approved training methods and means.Director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies Dr. Abdulla Al Khaldi confirmed that the launch of the program comes in response to the growing need for professional legal trainers. He pointed out that the legal trainer preparation program represents a strategic step to enhance the legal training system in the country and to build training capacities capable of transferring legal knowledge in modern and applied ways, which contributes to raising the efficiency of lawyers and improving the quality of institutional performance in the justice sector.Dr. Al Khaldi explained that the program aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and implement distinguished legal training courses with a focus on the practical and professional aspects required by the legal profession. This contributes to preparing professional legal trainers, developing skills in preparing and delivering legal courses, preparing training packages, presentation slides and various training tools, in addition to enhancing self-confidence and communication skills with trainees, establishing the foundations of legal training, and identifying the most prominent challenges facing trainers and ways to deal with them.The program is implemented over two weeks, with 40 training hours, and targets legal professionals with scientific experience who wish to obtain a legal trainer certificate accredited by the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Ministry of Justice.The program's modules were designed according to the best modern training practices, and include six modules that combine theoretical and practical aspects. The first model deals with the basics of training, while the second focuses on preparing training content, the third deals with the skills of a successful trainer, the fourth deals with the challenges facing the trainer, the fifth reviews training evaluation and follow-up, and the sixth concludes with comprehensive applied training presentations aimed at consolidating knowledge and enhancing the practical aspect for the participants.

Iran FM, EU Official discuss nuclear program, regional developments

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Kaja Kallas, who serves as the European Commission's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy relations. The call dealt with bilateral relations between Iran and the EU, as well as current regional and international developments.During the call, the two sides discussed the Iranian nuclear program, where they emphasized the importance of continuing contacts and consultations between Iran and the European parties regarding the issue.Regarding other developments, Araghchi pointed to Israel’s ongoing violations of international law, and its practices of violations, crimes, and assaults in the West Asia region, particularly in the occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon, stressing the responsibility of the international community to put an end to them.

QNL’s Qatar Reads brings together Qatar, Argentina, and Chile in a celebration of cultural exchange

Qatar Reads, an initiative under Qatar National Library (QNL), has partnered with Qatar Museums to launch "Cultural Crossroads: Qatar, Argentina, and Chile 2025," a new collaboration under the Years of Culture program.The cultural exchange program aims to foster mutual understanding between nations through a focus on shared heritage, literature, art, creative industries, and innovation.Through Qatar Reads Family Reading Program, the collaboration invites children and families across Qatar to explore the vibrant cultures of both Argentina and Chile, highlighting their distinct histories, artistic traditions, and storytelling heritage, from Argentina's literary legacy and tango influences to Chile's celebrated poetry and folklore.Among the materials developed for this collaboration are new cultural stories and reading resources inspired by the traditions, art, and landscapes of Argentina and Chile, encouraging young readers to discover connections between Qatar and these countries through storytelling.The Ambassador of Argentina to Qatar, Guillermo Nicolás noted that the collaboration reflects a shared belief in the power of culture and literature to unite people. He said the initiative introduces Argentinian and Chilean stories and art to children in Qatar, helping to build "a future where understanding and mutual respect thrive.""Stories are bridges between cultures. Through initiatives like this, we introduce children to the beauty of Argentina's and Chile's heritage while also deepening their understanding of Qatar's role in celebrating global diversity. The Years of Culture program is proud to support projects that inspire empathy, friendship, and curiosity from an early age," said Years of Culture Advisor on Latin America Mohammed Al Kuwari.Adding to this, Qatar Reads Manager Fatema Al Malki emphasized that the initiative continues Qatar Reads' efforts to make reading an adventure for every family. "Partnering with the embassies of Argentina and Chile, along with Years of Culture, allows us to open new cultural horizons for families in Qatar," she said. "These stories remind us how books can bring the world closer to every child's home."To conclude the month-long celebration, Qatar Reads, in collaboration with the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and Years of Culture, will host a closing cultural event on Nov.1, 2025. The event will welcome 100 children for hands-on activities inspired by Argentinian and Chilean heritage, celebrating the creativity, storytelling, and traditions of both nations.The Cultural Crossroads theme highlights the power of storytelling in connecting communities across continents. Through ongoing partnerships with embassies, museums, and cultural institutions, Qatar Reads continues to champion creativity, literacy, and intercultural dialogue.

Ministry of Labour advances national efforts against human trafficking

The Ministry of Labour, in partnership with the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT), conducted a three-day intensive training program to strengthen national capacity in identifying and addressing human trafficking in line with international and national standards.The program brought together NCCHT staff supporting hotline operations, personnel from humanitarian care homes, and labour inspectors, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required for early detection of trafficking cases and effective intervention. The initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to secure a dignified life for all residents and foster a thriving, knowledge-based society.As part of Qatar's National Human Trafficking Action Plan 2024-2026, the training underscores ongoing efforts to harmonise and coordinate national measures across government bodies and civil society. It reaffirms the nation's commitment to human rights, Islamic law, the Constitution, and legislation that protects human dignity and prohibits all forms of exploitation.Participants engaged in specialized modules covering legal frameworks, trafficking indicators, national referral mechanisms, and the operational roles of specialised units and labour inspectors in enforcing the law and supporting victims. The training also emphasised a human-rights-centred approach, promoting protection, prevention, and rehabilitation.Human trafficking remains one of the most egregious violations of contemporary human rights, with profound impacts on individual dignity and fundamental freedoms. Effective counteraction requires collaborative efforts, activation of joint coordination mechanisms, strengthened national and international partnerships, and broad awareness of the risks and strategies to combat this crime.Through such initiatives, Qatar continues to build national expertise, raise societal awareness, and foster strategic alliances aimed at preventing and combating human trafficking at national, regional, and global levels.

The Minister of Interior attends the graduation ceremony of the Second-Line Leadership Program at Police Officers Institute

His Excellency Minister of Interior, Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Police Academy Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani attended on Thursday the graduation ceremony of 13 officers of the first batch of the second-line leadership program at the Police Officers Institute at the Academy's headquarters.During the ceremony, His Excellency handed out certificates to the graduates in the presence of a number of leaders and heads of the country's security and military agencies.The program aimed to prepare a new generation of security leaders capable of contributing to the development of institutions and facing future challenges. The program was implemented in cooperation with the IE University in Spain, which specializes in leadership.

Get Ready Program launches third edition to provide academic and career guidance for high school students

The Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), launched the third edition of the Get Ready program, which will run until Sept. 18, 2025, with the participation of high school students.The program aims to provide young people with the academic and professional guidance necessary to help them choose university majors and future paths that align with their interests, abilities, and labor market needs.It also provides a platform to introduce students to local and international universities and scholarship opportunities, develop professional networking skills, and ensure a smooth transition from high school to university and the job market.In this context, Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Fawaz Al Musaifri said Get Ready empowers Qatari youth and builds their capabilities in line with the Ministry's vision to nurture a responsible, engaged generation with a strong national ethos.The program raises awareness about choosing the right university major, introduces national and international universities and scholarship opportunities, and develops practical skills, such as crafting CVs and personal statements, that help young people participate effectively in society and the workforce.For his part, the Executive Director of QCDC, Saad Al Kharji, emphasized that facilitating the transition from high school to university is a key factor in the success and comprehensive development of our youth, indicating that the Get Ready program is a strategic step that enables students to navigate this critical stage with confidence and awareness, and to make informed academic decisions that take into account their interests, abilities, and future aspirations.The program's training sessions are held daily at Multaqa (Education City Student Center), under the supervision of the Youth Development and Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and with the participation of specialized trainers from QCDC.The program focuses on spreading professional awareness and serving the local community, in addition to supporting students in linking their academic interests with their future aspirations.The launch of the Get Ready program comes as part of the Ministry of Sports and Youth's efforts to support the country's efforts to build a pioneering education system that enhances Qatar's regional and international standing, as it embodies the Ministry and the Center's commitment to investing in the energies of young people, enabling them to acquire the academic and professional skills necessary to choose appropriate specializations and capitalize on available opportunities to serve their future and contribute to the nation's progress.The training program includes key topics, most notably self-knowledge and personal skills, work values and ethics, writing a CV and personal statement, learning about international universities and scholarship programs, and building a professional network.

Ministry of Sports concludes its Summer 2025 activities with participation of 43,000 people

Ministry of Sports and Youth concluded its 2025 summer activities with wide participation exceeding 43,000 participants, through more than 750 sports and youth events organized across various regions of the country.The Ministry confirmed in a statement that the success of these activities was due to the combined efforts of partners from various governmental and private sectors, notably the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Municipality, Ministry of Social Development and Family, Qatar Sports for All Federation, National Cyber Security Agency, Education City, Qatar Museums, alongside numerous sports clubs, media channels, and other entities.The ministry emphasized the continuation of its community and youth programs throughout the year to reinforce the role of sports in society, supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 in building a conscious and active generation. In this context, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, launched several summer programmes and activities to raise awareness and develop skills among youth. The most prominent of these was the awareness programme 'Aware Generation' which benefited 1,163 young men and women across 28 centers and youth organizations under the supervision of five trainers. Additionally, the Hina Salma Farm saw the participation of 4,686 young men and women from youth and girls’ centers, with an average daily participation of 158 attendees per center.In the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the Qatar Scientific Club and the Qatar Society of Engineers organised the summer program STEM 2025 with the participation of more than 141 students. Meanwhile, the summer data camp, organized in co-operation with the National Planning Council, Qatar Scientific Club, and Microsoft, hosted over 100 students competing in 20 teams to develop skills in analysis and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, 1,800 young men and women participated in events organized by the Programs and Activities Department at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).The programmes varied between sports, recreational, and awareness activities, including events held at Lusail Sports Arena, Education City Stadium, Al Furjan playgrounds, and races in various public parks. Other specialised programs included 365 Days of Activity, Self-Defence Program, Steps Challenge, as well as dedicated events for youth and girls at youth centers.
