Qatar participates in 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum in Georgia

His Excellency Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani has headed the State of Qatar's delegation to the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, in Tbilisi. The two-day Forum is welcoming nearly 2000 participants from around the world, including heads of governments, ministers, business and industry leaders, and senior representatives from international, financial, and trade organizations. The Forum tackles multiple important topics relating to transportation, logistics, the development of ground, maritime and air corridors, world trade, energy, digital transformation, and the investment ecosystem of the transportation industry in the participating countries. Qatar's participation in this event translates into its commitment to supporting the international efforts aimed at enhancing global connectivity and exchange of expertise in the domain of transportation. It also emphasizes its role as an active player in developing a transportation ecosystem that is sustainable, both regionally and internationally, through various projects and initiatives consistent with the goals of the NDS3, the Ministry of Transport Strategy 2025-2030, and, ultimately, the QNV 2030.

His Excellency Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie met with a visiting delegation from the French Employers' Organization (MEDEF), which included a number of senior officials representing French companies and institutions operating in the fields of environment, energy, transport, banking, and investment. During the meeting, the two sides discussed aspects of cooperation between the State of Qatar and the French Republic in the areas of environment, climate change, and sustainable development. They also reviewed ways to enhance collaboration and exchange expertise, in addition to exploring potential opportunities for joint environmental initiatives and projects.

Amir arrives in Sharm el-Sheikh

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived Monday in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to head the State of Qatar's delegation participating in the Sharm el Sheikh Summit for Peace.His Highness the Amir was welcomed upon arrival at Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport by the Egyptian Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, and Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt Tariq bin Ali Al Ansari.His Highness the Amir is accompanied by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and an official delegation.

Qatar Chamber explores enhanced cooperation with Gulf Commercial Chambers

A delegation from the Qatar Chamber has concluded a visit to several Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain, aimed at strengthening ties with regional chambers of commerce and business leaders. The Chamber's delegation was headed by Board Member Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad, and included meetings with the Bahrain Chamber, Riyadh Chamber, Dubai Chamber, and Sharjah Chamber. In a Qatar Chamber statement Saturday, the discussions focused on mechanisms for forming sectoral committees and developing their work plans, as well as discussing successful practices, performance evaluation methods, and digital systems used to manage committee operations. During a meeting with Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce Eng. Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al Obaikan, Al Misnad emphasized Qatar Chamber's commitment to strengthening cooperation with GCC chambers of commerce and businesspeople. He highlighted the importance of enhancing collaboration between the committee departments of Qatar and Riyadh chambers through the exchange of experiences and successful practices that can further develop the work of commercial chambers, increasing their contribution to supporting the private sector and representing its interests. He further noted that sectoral committees in commercial chambers are among the most effective tools, as they work on identifying challenges facing various economic sectors and contribute to addressing them in cooperation with relevant authorities. For his part, Director of the Department of Committees and Business Councils Affairs Hamad Ali Al Marri said that the main objective of the visit was to learn about the leading experiences in the functioning of sectoral committees in Gulf chambers and to benefit from the best practices in this field.

Malaysia, Pakistan to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields

Malaysia and Pakistan agreed Monday to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, education, halal products, and anti-corruption efforts. Malaysia announced its intention to import USD 200 million worth of halal meat from Pakistan. This came during a press conference held by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, following delegation-level talks in Kuala Lumpur. During his first official visit to Malaysia, the Pakistani Prime Minister reaffirmed his country's commitment to close cooperation with Malaysia and expressed interest in benefiting from its expertise. He highlighted the potential for joint ventures in agriculture, information technology, and vocational training. For his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister described the relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia as strong and deeply rooted, encompassing areas such as education and defense, with continuous expansion in economic cooperation. He pointed out the tremendous potential for deepening cooperation in defense, agriculture, digital technologies, energy, and emerging sectors, and emphasized that Malaysia will work to facilitate meat exports from Pakistan. The Malaysian Prime Minister praised Pakistan's stance on Gaza, noting that Malaysia and Pakistan renewed their call for concrete measures to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Qatar participates in the 124th meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee of GCC Countries

The State of Qatar participated in the 124th meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee of the GCC countries, held in the capital of the State of Kuwait. His Excellency Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari led the State of Qatar's delegation participating in the meeting. During the meeting, approval was granted for the outcomes of the 85th meeting of the Committee of Central Bank Governors, the outcomes of the meetings of the Customs Union Authority, and the 15th meeting of the Committee of Tax Administrations. In addition, discussions were held regarding the development of a comprehensive electronic system to serve all types of indirect taxes. The meeting also addressed the latest developments in the negotiations of free trade agreements between the GCC countries and other nations and international blocs, as well as the programme for achieving economic unity among GCC member states by the year 2025. This was alongside a number of topics of mutual interest to the GCC states aimed at achieving economic integration and enhancing innovation and economic resilience in the face of common challenges.

Qatar Chamber discusses enhancing cooperation with Brno, Czech Republic

Board Member of Qatar Chamber, Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani, affirmed that Qatari-Czech relations are gaining momentum across various fields, noting that the volume of trade between the two countries reached QR 577 million in 2024, with several Czech companies actively operating in the Qatari market. This came during a meeting held by the Qatar Chamber on Wednesday with a Czech business delegation headed by Otto Hrdlicka, Deputy Director of the Brno Regional Chamber of Commerce, in the presence of a number of businessmen and Qatari companies' representatives. The meeting reviewed economic and trade relations between Qatar and the Czech Republic, the business and investment climate in both countries, and opportunities for cooperation in the biomedical sector. Al Ahmadani emphasised that this sector is among the most vital and significant globally, stressing that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to it within its national strategy for economic diversification and its Qatar National Vision 2030. She underlined that cooperation between Qatar and the Czech Republic, particularly with leading institutions and companies in Brno, could open broad horizons for fruitful partnerships in areas such as research and development, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and advanced medical technologies. She also called on Czech companies to take advantage of Qatar's attractive investment climate and the vast opportunities available across various sectors, highlighting the country's world-class infrastructure and advanced economic legislation. For his part, Otto Hrdlicka said that the delegation includes a group of leading Czech companies in the field of biomedicine, expressing his hope to strengthen cooperation with Qatari companies in this sector. He also delivered a presentation highlighting the key features of the Czech economy, the investment climate, available opportunities, and the main incentives and facilities offered to foreign investors, in addition to an overview of the Regional Chamber in Brno Province. Hrdlicka noted that the Czech Republic is distinguished by its strong manufacturing, engineering, automotive, mining, glass and beverage, technology, and life sciences industries. He further pointed out that Brno, located in Central Europe, is the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, hosting more than 300,000 companies and economic activities, and is considered a hub for industry, innovation, and trade in the country.

Austrian embassy hosts tourism delegation

The embassy of Austria Sunday received the ‘Austria Luxury Showcase’ tourism delegation to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Austria. Aimed to foster co-operation in the field of tourism, the event brought together leading representatives and stakeholders from the tourism sector while providing an excellent opportunity for exchange and networking.The event was attended by ambassador of Austria Erika Bernhard along with representatives from various Qatari and Austrian entities.While addressing the event, the ambassador noted that Austria and Qatar are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations this year in a very constructive exchange in multiple sectors. “Austria and Qatar have been connected in friendship and in a very constructive exchange for such a long time. So we count on the success of the co-operation for the next 50 years. We can do even more,” she said.In the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the ambassador said, the Austrian embassy launched a series of events in mid-September. An exchange was made between the IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences in Austria and the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST). A high-level delegation from IMC Krems visited UDST to indicate a potential for future co-operation between the two institutions.“Our aim is to promote exchange between young people because they are the future. If they know each other better, understand each other’s cultures better, it’s good for all of us. The Austrian embassy together with the Austrian Trade Commission hosted a series of Austrian Business Council meetings. We are trying to contribute to intensifying the business exchange between our countries,” she said.As part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Katara Cultural Village hosted a cultural event entitled ‘Culinary Arts’ in co-operation with the Austrian embassy in Doha. This year Austria Tourism puts a particular focus on Qatar to foster co-operation in the field of tourism.‘Austria Luxury Showcase’ promises an experience of unparalleled elegance and sophistication and the opportunity to delve into the epitome of Austrian luxury as you explore the imperial treasures and alpine elegance.As part of the delegation visit, a destination dialogue, evening visit to Souq Waqif and farewell breakfast will be held. The event will come to an end on September 30.

The Qatar Chamber (QC) held a meeting on Tuesday with a business delegation from the Republic of South Africa, headed by Director of Export Promotion at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Competition Zanelli Sani. The Qatari side was led by QC Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, with the participation of a distinguished group of Qatari business community, company representatives, and their South African counterparts. The meeting reviewed trade and economic relations between Qatar and South Africa and ways to strengthen them. It also reviewed the investment climate and opportunities available across various sectors in both countries, and the key incentives and facilities provided by each side to stimulate foreign investment. In his remarks, Al Obaidli said the meeting reflects the two countries' keenness to enhance cooperation and build genuine partnerships between their private sectors. He noted that bilateral relations have witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, highlighting that South Africa is an important trading partner for Qatar, with the volume of trade exchange reaching about QR 630 million last year. He also reaffirmed the Chamber's commitment to providing all necessary support and facilities to strengthen partnerships between the Qatari and South African business communities. For her part, Zanelli Sani thanked the Qatar Chamber for its commitment to hosting this important meeting between business leaders from both sides. Qatari economic delegation visits Bordeaux

A Qatari economic delegation visited the city of Bordeaux in southwest France as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Qatar and France and to expand economic ties with various French regions.The delegation was led by His Excellency Chairman of the Qatar Chamber (QC) Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Thani, and His Excellency Board Member of the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al-Thani. The visit was organized at the invitation of Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to France, and in cooperation with the Qatari-French Economic Circle (Cadran). The visit included tours of key industrial sites and major companies, such as the headquarters of Thales Group and Olicrom, a French company specializing in smart color-changing materials, as well as visits to several research centers in Bordeaux and its surrounding areas. During the trip, the Qatar Chamber and the Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a cooperation agreement to enhance economic relations and open new opportunities for collaboration. The agreement was signed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani and Patrick Seguin, President of the Bordeaux Chamber, in the presence of Qatar's Ambassador to France. The Qatari delegation also participated in a business roundtable to discuss cooperation opportunities between Qatari and French companies, introduce Bordeaux, the Gironde region, and their leading economic sectors, and present Qatar's business climate and the investment opportunities available in both countries. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani emphasized the close relationship between the two friendly countries, describing France as a trusted strategic partner for Qatar. He noted that cooperation between the two countries goes beyond traditional diplomacy to reflect a partnership based on trust, shared vision, and achievements.He highlighted the significant growth of Qatari investments in France in diverse sectors including real estate, sports, hospitality, and innovation, and pointed out the increasing interest of French companies in entering the Qatari market. He added that bilateral trade exceeded 1.3 billion Euros last year. He also praised Bordeaux as a global center for advanced industries such as aerospace, defense, high technology, and logistics, fields that align with Qatar's priorities for building a diversified, knowledge-based, and sustainable economy. Patrick Seguin highlighted the importance of this meeting as an important step toward strengthening business cooperation between Qatar and France. His Excellency the Ambassador said that the State of Qatar and the Bordeaux region share complementary strengths, with Bordeaux's expertise in advanced technologies, environmentally friendly industries, and key sectors such as health, security, and tourism combining with Qatar's strategic location, modern infrastructure, and ambitious economic diversification program to create many promising opportunities for collaboration. He explained that this visit provides a valuable opportunity to explore these possibilities and begin successful commercial partnerships between the two sides. His Excellency Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al-Thani praised the strength of Qatar-France relations and the desire of both countries to further develop them. He noted that the frequent official visits by leaders and private sector representatives from both countries demonstrate their commitment to advancing bilateral relations to a model level. He also highlighted Qatar's major progress in legislation, logistics, and infrastructure, along with its significant investment incentives and geographic proximity to large regional markets. He affirmed that the Qatari Businessmen Association is ready to explore all available investment opportunities in both Qatar and France. The association aims, through a group of investors and major companies, to strengthen the role of the private sector and establish genuine partnerships with the French private sector in both countries. This effort seeks to diversify joint investments in key economic sectors, expand economic, technical, and scientific cooperation, and facilitate the exchange of information between Qatar and France.

President of Ashghal welcomes delegation from Saudi Exports Development Authority

Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Meer, President of the Public Works Authority, received a delegation from the Saudi Exports Development Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by Eng. Saud Al Qablan, Vice President of Export Services. This is within the framework of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences between the two sides and supporting opportunities for future partnerships between the two countries.The delegation included a number of officials from the Exports Development Authority, in addition to representatives of leading Saudi companies, including: Tatweer Education Holding, Al Rawaf Contracting, Rawaf and Huashi, Saudi Meters Company (SMC) and Holystar. The delegation showcased the most prominent fields of work of the companies and their specialised services in the contracting, infrastructure sectors and related services.During the meeting, Ashghal’s officials reviewed the Authority's most prominent directions and future plans, in addition to the projects scheduled to be presented during the coming period, stressing the Authority's keenness to enhance cooperation with various regional and international bodies in a way that supports the comprehensive development process in Qatar.
