Ministry of Municipality rolls out extensive inspection campaign for 2025 Arab Cup

The Ministry of Municipality has launched an extensive inspection plan ahead of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, set to take place from December 1 to 18, aimed at ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality across food and service establishments. The plan seeks to promote a healthy and safe environment for the public while developing an efficient monitoring system capable of keeping pace with major sporting events.In a press release issued Monday, the Ministry affirmed that these efforts align with the directives of HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, which aim to enhance quality of life and well-being and ensure a healthy and safe environment for all.In this context, Doha Municipality has launched a comprehensive two-week inspection campaign targeting 156 hotels, with 30 inspectors working around the clock. The campaign focuses on food establishments, salons, and massage centers, in accordance with the health requirements outlined in Ministerial Decision No. (38) of 2025. Samples of food products are also being collected and analyzed at the government laboratory to ensure they are safe and suitable for human consumption.The campaign covers key tourist and high-traffic areas, including Souq Waqif, Doha Port, The Pearl-Qatar, and Msheireb Downtown Doha, in addition to food stalls and mobile carts in parks and public spaces, with the participation of 24 inspectors.These monitoring activities will continue throughout the tournament and the National Day celebrations, ensuring a comprehensive regulatory framework that reflects the Ministry's commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for all.Meanwhile, Al Rayyan Municipality announced the intensification of its inspection campaigns across tourist establishments within its jurisdiction in preparation for the tournament. The campaigns target restaurants, hotels, shops, and other facilities frequented by visitors and tourists to ensure full compliance with approved health requirements and provide a safe and healthy environment during this major sporting event.The Ministry stressed the importance of public cooperation and encouraged residents and visitors to report any observations or complaints related to food establishments as part of ongoing efforts to enhance service quality and maintain public safety.

The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality, participated in the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors' Forum, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under the theme: Collaborate. Inspire. Transform.The Ministry was represented by a delegation that included Director General of Al Rayyan Municipality Mansour Ajran Al Buainain, Director General of Al Wakrah Municipality Jaber Hassan Al Jaber, Director General of Al Daayen Municipality Rashid Mishlesh Al Khayarin, and Director of the Technical Affairs Department at Al Rayyan Municipality Khalifa Al Khayarin.During the summit, participants reviewed leading international practices in smart urban planning and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation among municipalities and cities across the region in the areas of sustainability, transportation and resource management. Municipality minister discusses avenues to advance fishing sector with fishermen

HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Attiyah met Tuesday with a host of fishermen to explore the challenges facing the fishing sector and ways to advance this sector in pursuit of increasing domestic production and achieving self-sufficiency. The ministry highly prioritizes the fishing sector as part of its strategy to achieve sustainable development and is working to execute integrated plans and programs to optimize fishermen's working environment, in addition to having infrastructure and services in place to back these activities, al-Attiyah highlighted. Al-Attiyah further outlined that the ministry has been committed to constantly reaching out to fishermen and listening to their suggestions and feedback onsite to ensure the enforcement of practical solutions that help elevate domestic production efficiency from fish and enhance the quality of national products in alignment with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. The meeting was part of a series of the ministry's meetings with a variety of partners in the food security system within an all-hands-on-deck approach that promotes integration between public and private sectors to achieve self-sufficiency from farm, livestock, and seafood products.

Municipalities continue efforts to combat insects, pests

The Ministry of Municipality has continued its efforts to combat the spread of insects and pests at various places across the country, to maintain public health and hygiene.The various municipalities carried out several campaigns to fight insects during September 26- October 16, when 5,342 requests were handled. These included 1,148 in Doha municipality, 117 in Sheehaniya, 802 in Umm Salal, 100 in Al Shamal, 584 in Al Wakra, 185 in Al Khor and Al Thakhira, 1,362 in Al Rayyan, and 1,034 in Al Daayan Municipality.Through Oun App, 3,447 requests were received, 1,832 through the unified call centre, 63 through the ministry website, with a total requests of 5,342 within one week.The insecticide spraying campaigns are going on alongside the different awareness campaigns meant to instruct the public on how to curb the spread of insects and pests.

Minister inaugurates Qatar International Facility Management Conference and Exhibition

HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Attiyah inaugurated Sunday the Qatar International Facility Management Conference and Exhibition (QIFMCE), and the LED Power and Renewable Energy Expo (LEPEX).Organised by the Qatar Society of Engineers, the conference brought together government agencies, national institutions, and companies specialising in facility management and sustainable energy.During the opening, HE al-Attiyah toured the exhibition's pavilions, where he was briefed on the latest innovations and technologies in facility management and renewable energy, including smart lighting technologies and sustainable building solutions, which mark the significant progress Qatar is witnessing in this field.In her opening remarks, Qatar Society of Engineers chair engineer Amna Mohammed al-Naama emphasised that this global engineering event represents an integrated scientific platform that combines engineering thought and technical innovation, enabling the exchange of practical expertise between local and international engineers and experts.She added that the conference aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030), aiming to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for smart energy and facility management, while enhancing the national capacity to design engineering projects that meet the highest standards of sustainability and efficiency.Al-Naama said that the conference marks the beginning of a new phase of collaborative work.Over the coming days, scientific papers, recommendations, and discussions will lay the foundation for a roadmap to develop the facility management sector across the region.Al-Naama affirmed that the Qatar Society of Engineers will adopt the conference's outcomes and transform them into practical programmes and initiatives aimed at advancing professional practices, preparing national talent, and instilling a culture of innovation and sustainability in engineering workplaces.According to the themes and working sessions of the QIFMCE and the LEPEX, which will run for three days and feature the participation of a select group of experts and specialists from Qatar and abroad, a wide range of vital topics will be discussed that reflect global and local trends in the development of the facility management sector.Among the main topics on the agenda is the role of facility management in achieving QNV 2030.This includes a focus on the integration of facility management with sustainable urban planning, with contributions from chief executives of major real estate companies in Qatar such as Qatari Diar, Barwa, Msheireb Properties, and Al Waab.Other sessions will address the importance of digital transformation in facility management, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve operational efficiency, and evaluating facility readiness for transformation through structural equation modeling.The conference will also tackle legal and regulatory challenges facing the sector, with a dedicated session on discussing new laws and their role in stimulating the facility management sector.Representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Municipality, and the Real Estate Regulatory Authority will also participate in the session.Additionally, topics such as cybersecurity for automated buildings, digital crisis management strategies, and the experiences of GCC countries in enhancing the resilience of critical facility infrastructure will be explored.Another theme is linking engineering performance to the human experience.One session will discuss how facility management can be a driver for enhancing the well-being of individuals in the built environment by improving indoor air quality, implementing sustainable architecture strategies, and connecting technical data to tangible health and psychological outcomes.The conference will also explore sustainability, environmental and social governance, and the role of facility management in supporting smart cities and empowering the national workforce in this vital sector.The participation of experts and specialists from over 11 countries in the conference sessions will add special significance, making it a global platform that brings together engineering thought and technical innovation in the heart of Doha.

Municipality ministry completes 93% transactions online

The Ministry of Municipality has announced that it had completed 93% of its transactions electronically, achieving a customer satisfaction rate of 84.7% in 2025.This comes as part of its efforts to enhance customer experience and improve the quality of government services.In a statement, the ministry confirmed that this year witnessed a qualitative leap in digital transformation and the development of service delivery channels.The total number of services provided to the public reached 172 services through its website, and 127 services through the “Aoun” application, contributing to facilitating access to services from anywhere, at any time.It explained that the total number of requests submitted through various channels amounted to approximately 618,990, including 156,845 via the “Aoun” app, 278,821 via the website, and 132,071 via customer service offices. Meanwhile, the number of requests scheduled electronically for certain services reached 26,651. The “Aoun” app also recorded more than 131,000 downloads on Android and iOS systems, while the number of visits to the ministry’s websiteexceeded 3.3mn during the past period. Statistics showed that the percentage of electronic transactions completed reached 93 % of the total services, while the percentage reached 97.7% for requests submitted through customer service offices.This reflects the ministry’s success in establishing the concept of smart services and achieving public satisfaction through speed and accuracy.According to the statement, the number of beneficiaries of the ministry’s services during the current year reached approximately 332,479, while the Unified Call Center (184) received about 174,989 calls, with an average transaction completion time at government service centres of no more than three and a half minutes. Customer satisfaction with the ministry’s services reached an advanced level of 84.7% during the period from January to the end of last August.The ministry noted that it continues to enhance communication with the public through its digital channels, with the total number of followers reaching more than 533,776 on the “X”, “Instagram”, and “Facebook” platforms.It said that during the same period, it received 9,557 reports, including 3,353 urgent reports and 6,204 regular reports, which were handled according to the highest standards of responsiveness and transparency.The ministry concluded it statement emphasising that these achievements reflect its commitment to providing advanced, smart services that support the country’s digital transformation journey and align with the government’s efforts to enhance institutional efficiency and achieve customer satisfaction, in line with the goals of sustainable development and Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Ministry of Municipality has marked the Customer Service Week 2025 by showcasing the remarkable progress it has achieved in enhancing customer service and advancing digital transformation throughout the year. Throughout 2025, the Ministry provided around 172 services through its website and an additional 127 services via the “Oun” mobile application.The total number of requests submitted across all channels reached 618,990, including 156,845 through the “Oun” app, 278,821 via the website, and 132,071 through customer service offices.Further, certain services saw 51,266 electronically scheduled requests. The “Oun” app recorded more than 131,000 downloads on Android and iOS platforms, while the ministry’s website attracted over 3.3mn visits during the same period.The ministry’s emphasis on digital efficiency yielded impressive results, with 93% of all transactions completed electronically and 97.7% of customer service requests processed successfully. These figures demonstrate the ministry’s success in establishing a smart service ecosystem characterised by speed, accuracy, and reliability.In terms of beneficiaries, a total of 332,479 individuals received services from the ministry during 2025. The unified call center (184) handled 174,989 incoming calls, achieving an average processing time of just three and a half minutes per transaction in government service centers — a clear indication of operational efficiency and prompt response. Customer satisfaction reached an advanced rate of 84.7% between January and August 2025, underscoring the ministry’s ability to meet and exceed public expectations.The ministry also continued to strengthen its communication channels with the public through social media, reaching a total of more than 533,776 followers across platforms such as X, Instagram, and Facebook. Municipality ministry launches region’s first AI-powered knowledge transfer system

The Ministry of Municipality has announced the launch of the pilot version of the Institutional Excellence and Knowledge Transfer System, based on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This is the first step of its kind in the region, coinciding with the launch of the evaluation process for the second edition of the Qatar Government Excellence Award.The new system was launched in collaboration between the Information Systems Department and the Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department. It represents a qualitative shift in the concept of institutional excellence, leveraging artificial intelligence tools to achieve superior performance and ensure the sustainability of institutional excellence through continuous improvement, accuracy, and speed of completion.The ministry explained in a statement that the system aims to enhance awareness of the concepts of excellence and innovation among leaders and decision-makers, and to spread a culture of institutional excellence within the ministry, keeping pace with the pace of digital transformation and modern institutional development trends. Excellence has become a strategic necessity dictated by global competition. The new system’s most prominent features include its role as a virtual assistant for standards leaders, rapid access to results and outputs, enhanced awareness and dissemination of a culture of institutional excellence, integrated connectivity between relevant standards and practices, the ability to extract evidence and information quickly and accurately, and the provision of an innovative, interactive environment to enhance employee engagement.The ministry emphasised that the system represents more than just a technical tool; it is a strategic partner in the institutional excellence journey and a driver of knowledge innovation. It noted that it was developed through extensive collaborative efforts and working sessions with partners from AI technology providers, establishing it as a pioneering model for digital transformation in the field of institutional excellence and innovative work.

Abandoned buildings demolished in Al Wakra

Al Wakra Municipality's Technical Control Section in co-operation with the Mechanical Equipment Department has demolished a number of abandoned buildings that posed a danger to public safety and distorted the city’s urban appearance. This included an abandoned residential complex consisting of 60 housing units, in execution of a decision issued by the Building Maintenance and Demolition Committee, after completing the applicable legal and technical procedures. This step comes as part of Al Wakra Municipality’s ongoing efforts to address abandoned and neglected buildings within its administrative boundaries.

Rotten fish seized in Al Rayyan Municipality

Al Rayyan Municipality's Health Control Section has carried out an inspection and awareness campaign targeting shops at the Thursday and Friday Market. The campaign led to the detection of two food establishments selling around 190kg of rotten fish. Both shops were closed for 30 days, and the seized fish destroyed. In addition, six violation reports were issued in accordance with Law No (8) of 1990 on the regulation of human food control. The campaign also included inspections of 30 other food establishments. Al Rayyan Municipality affirmed its commitment to intensifying monitoring campaigns to ensure that food establishments comply with health requirements and to protect consumers. It also urged the public to report any violations through the Oun application or by calling the unified hotline 184.
