His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani performed the Istisqa (rain-seeking) prayer along with crowds of worshipers at the Lusail prayer ground Thursday morning, reviving the Prophetic Sunnah in asking Allah the Almighty for rainfall.His Highness Personal Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani, and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa al-Thani joined the Istisqa prayer.His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, and a number of Their Excellencies the ministers and senior officials also performed the prayer.In a sermon after the prayer, His Eminence Sheikh Dr Yahya Butti al-Nuaimi urged the worshippers to sincerely repent and return to Allah, reminding them to be certain that all dominion is in His hands.He pointed out that Allah the Almighty withholds rain from His servants so they may awaken from their heedlessness and remember that they are weak and powerless to bring benefit or harm to themselves except by Allah’s will. He also emphasised the importance of supplication, raising hands in earnest prayer for rainfall, seeking forgiveness, and striving for piety.

The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has put the finishing touches to this weekend’s Qatar International Baja and competitors have now set up their equipment in the expansive Baja service park, adjacent to the Lusail International Circuit, north of Doha.Forty-three cars, 54 motorcycles and four quads are expected to tackle the penultimate rounds of the FIA World and Middle East Baja Cups and the FIM Bajas World Cup.Rally officials have also made minor tweaks to the route in the days building up to the event. The Prologue to determine the starting order for the first stage will now run for 10.59km Thursday afternoon. This precedes a slightly revised opening stage of 220.31km on Friday and the final run through the dunes of southern Qatar on Saturday that has been slightly lengthened to 234.19km.Five-time Dakar Rally winner Nasser Saleh al-Attiyah proved last December that it is possible to beat the Ultimate category cars and take an outright victory in a round of the FIA World Baja Cup (he and Pablo Moreno won the Dubai round in a Taurus T3 Max) in a Challenger class machine.The Qatari has a busy weekend ahead offering support vehicles to the QMMF Team. As he explained in the service park Tuesday: “We tried hard in Dubai last year and we won. It was really nice. Now, we have made a lot of development with the car (Taurus) in South Africa also. The MENA Karting Championship Nations Cup 2025 organised by Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) concluded an exciting day two at the Lusail Karting Circuit. The championship welcomed 173 drivers from 18 nations and featured races in different age groups, bringing together a diverse set of talent from the Middle East and North Africa. Spectators enjoyed free access to six karting categories and the vibrant Fan Zone, which offered numerous engaging activities between races. Day two of the championship featured a qualifying session followed by three Heats. These qualifying sessions began with the Micro Max category (8 - 11 years) followed by Mini Max (10 - 13 years), Junior Max (12 - 15 years), Senior Max (14+ years) and finally DD2 (15+ years), DD2 Masters (31+ years), R390 Sprint (ages 15+) and R390 Endurance (ages 15+). Following the qualifying sessions, drivers competed in three Heat sessions. These sessions allowed them to familiarize themselves with the track and formulate their strategies for the upcoming final races. Lusail International Circuit (LIC) has officially opened volunteer registrations for the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2025, set to take place from November 28 to 30, 2025. From October 12 until 25, 2025, nationals and residents aged 18 and above are invited to apply for a chance to be part of Qatar’s most anticipated international sporting event of 2025.Building on the success of last year’s volunteer program — which saw more than 600 participants from 40 nationalities, with a split of 55% male and 45% female volunteers, including 210 students contributing across key operational areas.This year’s edition promises to be even larger and more engaging, offering a range of exciting roles and first-hand experience behind the scenes of Formula 1.Volunteers will have the opportunity to work across several essential departments, including Events, Marketing, Communication, Ticketing, Sustainability, Fanzone and more, supporting the seamless delivery of the race weekend. Through it, students will gain a deeper understanding of the significance of LIC and its role beyond hosting world-class events. It aims not only to foster a passion for motorsport but also aligns with the broader objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.Kicked off on 25 September at Multaqa, Qatar Foundation, the tour is visiting universities and schools in Qatar until November 15 under the tagline “From the Track to Your Campus.” Through interactive experiences including VR pit stop challenges, STEM-based activities, quizzes, and photo opportunities, the programme gives students a hands-on introduction to the world of Formula 1.The initiative is rooted in education, designed to showcase the learning value of motorsport by connecting themes of technology, innovation, and real-world application directly to students.
