The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has issued a statement outlining a combination of guidelines for worshippers during Eid Al-Fitr to ensure their safety and good organisation.The statement indicated that the authoritative agencies urge worshippers to adhere to the guidelines, in terms of never panicking upon hearing any national alert during the prayer and remaining inside the mosque.In case worshippers are outside the mosque when an alert is issued, they should either go inside the mosque or remain in vehicles as per the recommended posture from the authoritative agencies until the threat is eliminated, the statement read, adding that upon finishing the prayer sermon they should exit immediately in calm and tranquility.The ministry called for people heading toward mosques to engage in Takbeer during Eid to avoid crowding and help ensure smooth entry and exit from the mosque, adding that should the mosque become overcrowded, it is essential to move to the nearest alternative mosque.It stressed the criticality of never praying outdoors and remaining inside the mosque only, noting that it is essential for worshippers to reduce being flanked by children and minimise women's presence as much as possible, since Eid prayer is a communal obligation, "Fard Kifayah"

The Katara Cultural Village kicked off a specialised art workshop on Arabic calligraphy and Islamic ornamentation Monday (February 23), presented by artist Aisha Rabie at the Katara Art Studios.This workshop is part of Katara's cultural programme aimed at supporting heritage arts and enhancing their presence in the contemporary creative scene, Katara announced on its X account.This workshop is part of Katara's efforts to revive authentic arts and provide interactive platforms that combine learning and practice. It offers participants the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Arabic calligraphy, its various styles and aesthetic principles, and to explore Islamic ornamentation techniques as a visual art form linked to cultural identity and reflecting the profound spiritual dimension of Islamic culture. During the workshop, artist Aisha Rabie will provide a theoretical explanation of Arabic calligraphy's origins and historical development, focusing on the most prominent schools and styles.The workshop also highlights the organic relationship between calligraphy and ornamentation, and how this convergence has formed one of the most prominent manifestations of Islamic art throughout the ages. 

The head of Muslim Scholars and Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr Husein Kavazovic, Tuesday honoured Dr Vahid Suljic with a prestigious award, recognising his outstanding efforts in strengthening co-operation between the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar.“This distinguished award affirms his many years of dedicated, committed, and responsible work in enhancing institutional, cultural, and friendly ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar,” Dr Kavazovic said. “Through his continuous engagement, Dr Suljic has made a significant contribution to advancing co-operation between the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and institutions and partners in Qatar.”Dr Suljic thanked Dr Kavazovic for the award, emphasising that it reflects the continuity of his efforts to connect institutions and individuals and to build bridges of co-operation and mutual trust between the two friendly states.Dr Suljic is an alumnus of Qatar Foundation (QF), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and Qatar University (QU).Originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, he came to Qatar to pursue his higher education after being awarded a scholarship by His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.He remains profoundly grateful for this opportunity and expresses lifelong appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamad, Qatar’s leadership, and its people for their continued support, generosity, and commitment to education and international co-operation.Throughout his academic and professional journey, Dr Suljic has actively contributed to strengthening educational, institutional, and cultural ties, as well as bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar, promoting dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding.He is the founder of Qatar’s largest student platform, @students_qatar, which today boasts of more than 144,000 subscribers.The platform serves as a leading hub for student engagement, information-sharing, and community building across the country, reflecting Dr Suljic’s commitment to empowering youth and supporting academic excellence in Qatar.Dr Suljic has previously received recognition for his contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar, including honours from the former ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Qatar, Dr Bisera Turkovic, as well as from ambassador Haris Lukovac. 

The Philippine Muslim Federation (PMF) Qatar successfully conducted back-to-back community activities in early February, strengthening unity and promoting Islamic values among Filipino Muslims in the country.On February 4, PMF organised the 2nd PMF Bowling Tournament at the Qatar Bowling Centre. The event served as a fundraising activity for the upcoming Qur’an for Kids Season 5. A total of 10 teams participated and showed strong support for the noble cause.The Philippine Muslim Association emerged as the champion of this year’s tournament. The Organisation of Muslim Mindanao Overseas Workers secured second place, followed by Al Salaam Inc in third. Davao Muslim Organisation Qatar in fourth place and Team Primoz in fifth. Other participating teams included the Philippine Overseas Muslim Development Association, Team Radz, Al Muttahidat, HMC-POGS, and Fazicaldo.The tournament was marked by a spirit of sportsmanship, friendship, and brotherhood among the participants, making it a memorable evening for the community.On February 6, PMF conducted another major activity in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan. The PMF Istiqbal Ramadan programme was held at the Academia International Institute and Studies. The event featured three esteemed speakers: Ustadz Mohammad Bin Mohd Tayb Sacatan Pagayawan, Ustadz Zacaria Abbas Madale, and Ustadz Tirmidhi Musa, who shared valuable insights on spiritual and physical preparation for Ramadan.PMF president Cary Yasir M Aragat thanked all supporters and participants who contributed to the success of the programme. He also extended special appreciation to Annaliza Noor Diet for generously allowing the organisation to use its hall as the venue. Aragat said that PMF has lined up several meaningful activities for the month of Ramadan and beyond, including a Ramadan Lecture and Iftar on February 20, the Qur’an for Kids Season 5 on March 7, the PMF Ramadan Umrah, and the PMF Post-Eid’l Fitr celebration. These programmes aim to further strengthen faith, unity, and active participation within the Filipino Muslim community in Qatar. 

The State of Qatar has announced that Wednesday (February 18) will mark the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, following the sighting of the crescent moon. In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs said its Moon Sighting Committee had confirmed the beginning of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH. The committee met at the ministry's headquarters in Doha under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Yahya bin Batty Al Nuaimi to verify testimonies of moon sightings on the 29th day of Shaaban, corresponding to February 17, 2026. The committee extended its congratulations on the occasion to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani; to His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani; to His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani; as well as to the government, the Qatari people, and Muslims worldwide. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims around the world as a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection, and is considered one of the five pillars of Islam.

With a primary aim to instill Islamic values and promote cultural awareness among young learners during the holy month of Ramadan, the Department of Arabic, Urdu, and Islamic Studies of MES Indian School organised a series of vibrant intra-school competitions under the title Ramadan Radiance.The programme featured Arabic Speech (Elocution), Adhan, and Arabic Calligraphy competitions and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various grades. The results of the competitions were as follows. In the Junior category of Arabic Elocution, the first prize was awarded to Eisa Muhammed Shanavas (6-A), the second prize to Maliha Fatima (5-O), and the third prize to Ammar Mohammed Irshadullah (6-E).**media[416276]**In the Intermediate category of Arabic Elocution, Maryam Rishad (7-M) secured the first prize, Abdullah Mohammad Sajid (8-D) won second, and Khadeeja Mujeeb (8-Q) placed third.In the Junior category of the Adhan competition, the first prize was bagged by Ammar Mohammed Farooq (6-D), the second prize by Muhammed Shahzil (6-J), and the third prize was jointly awarded to Abdul Hanna (6-F) and Ahsan Sha (6-J).In the Intermediate category of Adhan, Muhammad Umair Mujeeb (7-C) bagged the first prize, Aasim Ismayil (7-B) won second, and Ahmad Zayan (7-B) received the third.An impressive Arabic calligraphy exhibition was also organised as part of the programme, showcasing the students' creativity, artistic skills, and dedication. The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which the Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar, awarded certificates and trophies to the winners.She encouraged the participants and appreciated their commendable performances and enthusiasm. The entire event was successfully coordinated by Usman Mayyeri, head of the Department of Arabic, Urdu, and Islamic Studies, with the dedicated support of his team of teachers. The programme stood as a meaningful celebration of faith, talent, and learning, truly reflecting the spirit of Ramadan. 

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs honoured participants and instructors in the programmes and courses of the Da‘wah and Islamic Sciences Institute for the year 2025, during a ceremony held at Imam Muhammad bin Abdulwahhab Mosque. The award ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem al-Ghanem, Undersecretary of the Ministry Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem al-Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Da‘wah and Mosques Affairs Mohammed bin Hamad al- Kuwari, and several ministry directors and professionals working in the field of da‘wah. This was part of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ ongoing efforts to raise the standards of imams, preachers, khateebs, muezzins, researchers, and Islamic jurists, and its commitment to qualifying them academically and professionally, enabling them to fulfil their educational and da‘wah mission on sound scholarly foundations that keep pace with the requirements of the modern era. The ceremony recognised a distinguished group of outstanding participants in scientific, skills-based, and specialised courses. The total number of beneficiaries of the Institute’s programmes during 2025 reached approximately 2,900, encompassing Shariah, knowledge-based, skills, administrative, and specialised programmes targeting various categories working in the da‘wah field. On this occasion, Director of the Da‘wah and Religious Guidance Department at the ministry Jassim al-Ali, said that the recognition represents a culmination of a journey of scholarly and da‘wah contributions. He noted that imams and preachers are the cornerstone of educational development and societal reform, and that their mission goes beyond the performance of rituals to include education, guidance, and awareness-building. He stressed the importance of continuing to seek knowledge and develop skills in line with contemporary developments, serving societal issues with a spirit of moderation and balance. For his part, participant Abdulrahman al-Bakri, one of the graduates of the New Qatari Imams Qualification Course, delivered a speech on behalf of the newly qualified Qatari imams, expressing his deep gratitude to the Ministry of Awqaf and the Da‘wah and Islamic Sciences Institute for the high-quality foundational programmes. He affirmed that the imamate was a responsibility, and a lifelong mission that requires good example and a balanced, conscious connection between society and religion. In this context, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs affirmed that the programmes of the Da‘wah and Islamic Sciences Institute are among the comprehensive, high-quality initiatives aimed at enhancing the academic and professional competence of imams and preachers. The ceremony concluded with handing out of certificates to outstanding participants and instructors.
