His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani received phone calls Wednesday from Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi.During the call, they discussed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability as well as ways to resolve disputes peacefully.HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed during the call that the Iranian attack on Qatari territory constitutes a flagrant violation of its national sovereignty, contradicts the principles of good neighbourliness, and cannot be accepted under any justification or pretext. In this context, he pointed out that Qatar has always been keen to distance itself from regional conflicts and has sought to facilitate dialogue between the Iranian side and the international community. However, he added, the renewed targeting of its territory does not reflect good faith and threatens the foundation of understandings upon which bilateral relations between the two countries were built.His Excellency also stressed the necessity of an immediate cessation of all escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, prioritising reason and wisdom, and working to contain the crisis in a way that preserves the security of the region.The Prime Minister of Luxembourg called on all parties to de-escalate, exercise reason, and return to negotiations and diplomatic means to avoid further chaos in the region.The Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs voiced Japan's concern over the developments in the region, urging all parties to heed the voice of reason and return to negotiations and diplomatic means.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, Vijitha Herath, met Wednesday with Qatar’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, Hamad bin Mohammed al-Dosari. During the meeting, they discussed co-operation between the countries.  

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Thursday with Senegal's Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad Cheikh Niang, who is visiting Doha.  Discussion during the meeting dealt with bilateral relation and ways to bolster them; regional developments; and boosting efforts aimed at cementing security and stability in Africa in addition to a host of topics of mutual interest.

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Wednesday with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot, on the margin of the World Economic Forum 2026. The meeting discussed bilateral co-operation and ways to support and strengthen it as well as developments in the region, particularly in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, in Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, along with a number of issues of mutual interest. 

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received a written message from Guinea President Mamady Doumbouya, pertaining to enhancing bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them. His Excellency the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi received the message during his meeting with Guinea ambassador to Qatar Thierno Abdoulaye Sow. 

Qatar took part in the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss developments in Somalia, convened Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi led Qatar's delegation at the meeting.In Qatar's speech before the meeting, HE al-Muraikhi noted that the meeting is being held at an extremely sensitive time amid rapid developments, prompting OIC member states to uphold a collective responsibility in defending the principles of sovereignty and respect for international law, in addition to protecting security and stability in the region, the Horn of Africa region, and the Red Sea.Al-Muraikhi reiterated Qatar's vehement condemnation of Israel's recognition of the "Somaliland" region of Somalia as an independent state.He stressed that this move constitutes a unilateral measure that contravenes the very essence of international law, undermines the sovereignty, national unity, territorial integrity, and internationally recognised borders of Somalia, and represents a grave precedent that goes in contrast with the principles of international law, as well as the United Nations and OIC Charters. 

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued Sunday the Amiri Decision No. 1 of 2026, appointing Faisal Abdullah Hamad Abdullah al-Hanzab as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Turkiye. **media[401035]**The decision is effective starting from its date of issue and is to be published in the official gazette. Prior to this appointment, he served as Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (notably engaging in high-level discussions on Afghanistan, counter-terrorism, and regional security), ambassador to Azerbaijan (2019–2023), and held key multilateral roles including postings at Qatar's Permanent Delegations to the United Nations in New York and Geneva.  His earlier career featured directorship of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consular positions in the United States, and service in protocol and international organisations departments since joining the ministry in 1994.
