The Embassy of Turkiye in Qatar marked Wednesday the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkiye. Thanks to the wise leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, this brotherhood has evolved into a model strategic partnership. In recent years, relations between Turkiye and Qatar have developed rapidly, reaching an exemplary level of regional and international co-operation. Within this framework, the High Strategic Committee was established as the institutional foundation of our partnership. The committee convenes annually, alternately in both countries, and its 11th meeting was held last week in Doha under the leadership of our two heads of state.“To date, more than 120 agreements and memoranda of understanding have been signed between our countries, covering all areas of life. Turkish companies have become reliable partners in Qatar’s development projects, while Qatari investors contribute to growth and job creation in Turkiye. Our economic co-operation has extended beyond our borders, encompassing joint projects in various parts of the world — spreading prosperity to other regions as well. Turkiye and Qatar have always stood by each other in difficult times.“Turkiye — as in the past — will continue today and in the future to stand by our friendly State of Qatar, supporting its sovereignty and security with all our capabilities in the face of any threat or aggression.”Further, he stressed the joint Qatar-Turkiye co-operation and efforts to enhance regional and world peace and stability in several areas including Palestine, Gaza, Syria, Sudan, Pakistan and Afghanistan, and other international issues that both countries help resolve peacefully.The ambassador reiterated that today, Turkiye — with its rich history, robust institutions, strategic geographic location, qualified human resources, dynamic economy, and active diplomacy — stands as a responsible actor in its region and beyond, working for peace, justice, and stability.

His Excellency Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United States inaugurated the new building of the Qatari Embassy in Washington, D.C., in a ceremony attended by a number of members of the US administration and Congress, prominent political, economic, and social figures, policy advisors, think tank representatives, and members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps.In his address during the ceremony, His Excellency affirmed that the opening of the new embassy building is a clear reflection of the strong and enduring relations between the State of Qatar and the United States of America.He expressed hope that the new mission premises would serve as a new milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries across all fields.His Excellency reiterated Qatar's continued commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, and educational spheres, noting that the new embassy building serves as a platform for promoting engagement and mutual understanding.He emphasized the importance of the ongoing and steadfast coordination between the State of Qatar and the United States in establishing stability and peace, and in achieving prosperity and well-being for the peoples of the region through cooperation based on the principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the sovereignty of states.Held in partnership with Qatar Foundation, the Qatari Ministry of Defense, Qatar Airways, and Formula One, the ceremony featured a musical performance by Qatari composer and artist Dana Al Fardan, whose work skillfully reflected Qatari culture and folk heritage.The new embassy building is located in the heart of Washington, D.C., occupying the historic administrative building of the Carnegie Institution for Science.Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965, the building is considered one of the most significant architectural landmarks in the city.The facility includes dedicated spaces for diplomatic engagement, cultural and educational programs, consular services, and community outreach, enhancing the embassy's mission to deepen ties between the peoples of both nations and to promote cooperation in trade, security, education, and cultural exchange.

Students of HOPE Qatar Centre for Persons with Disabilities, representing the centre’s senior, open schooling, primary, and junior sections, recently held a special educational visit to the Indonesian embassy in Doha. Indonesian ambassador Ridwan Hassan welcomed the students and special educators and led them on a guided tour of the embassy premises. The students were introduced to the daily operations and the key functions of various departments and learned how the embassy provides consular services, facilitates cultural and trade relations, and assists local citizens and citizens living abroad. Hassan spoke about his longstanding association with HOPE Qatar. “HOPE Qatar has made a remarkable difference not just in the lives of its students, but also in the lives of their families,” the envoy said. “The love, patience, and professionalism of the staff reflect the true spirit of inclusion.” Hassan also commended HOPE Qatar’s role in promoting empowerment and equality through education, emphasising that “every child, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to be part of society with dignity”. “We are deeply honoured to have visited the Indonesian embassy, and even more grateful for the long and meaningful association we share with ambassador Ridwan Hassan and his family,” said HOPE Qatar founder and chief mentor Dr Rajeev Thomas. The students presented handmade souvenirs to the ambassador as a gesture of appreciation for his kindness and support. In turn, Hassan presented the students with gifts and interacted with them individually, expressing admiration for their confidence, creativity, and positivity. HOPE Qatar Centre for Persons with Disabilities offers quality education and holistic support to children and young adults with disabilities. The centre’s programmes are designed to nurture independence, confidence, and community participation among its learners.

The Argentine Embassy in Doha recently hosted its third edition of ‘Art, Fashion, and Cultural Diplomacy Exhibition’, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange as a key theme driving the relationship between Qatar and Argentina. Speaking to reporters at the event, Argentine ambassador Guillermo L Nicolas underlined the exhibition’s role in setting the stage for the ‘Qatar-Argentina Year of Culture 2025’, which features numerous events in Doha and Buenos Aires. He said the event aims to connect the traditions of both nations, showcasing elements such as intangible cultural heritage and artworks, including paintings created by several diplomats and their wives. Nicolas cited the recent exhibition of Latin-American art at the National Museum of Qatar as a successful precursor, describing it as “the gem of our cultural year.” The exhibition, which concluded on July 19, featured around 170 works by more than 100 pioneering and contemporary Latin American artists, including iconic pieces from Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Wifredo Lam, Fernando Botero, and Antonio Berni. He said that cultural exploration uncovered unexpected common ground, leading them to realise they are “much closer than we believe” through shared aspects like traditional garments, a love for horses, and the importance of family. The envoy pointed out that cultural diplomacy is a main element not only for showcasing national identity but also for improving international relations. He said it serves as the essential foundation for international relations, asserting it is the primary method to foster mutual understanding and to create a network through which political and economic ties can be successfully developed. He noted that despite the vast geographical distance, cultural comparison reveals deep similarities. According to Nicolas, the year-long initiative of Qatar Museums is designed to solidify the bond forged during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which saw an influx of approximately 45,000 Argentinian visitors. “We have an amazing connection between the two peoples during the World Cup,” he recounted, adding that the cultural initiative is “a good opportunity to continue this relation.” The envoy said such initiative aligns with Qatar’s vision of becoming a global cultural hub, an effort he lauded, noting Qatar’s “wonderful position in the cultural world.” He suggested that sports should be viewed as part of cultural tradition, as the Year of Culture facilitates the exchange of artistic expressions, allowing Qatari art to be showcased in Argentina and Argentinian culture to be displayed in Doha. Nicolas added that he sees the 2025 initiative as “just one more milestone” in the already strong political, economic, and trade relationship between the two countries.

The embassy of India in Qatar, jointly with MY Bharat under the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, organised the Viksit Bharat Run 2025.Held simultaneously across more than 150 international locations, the event became a global celebration of service, fitness, and sustainability.The run in Doha saw participation from the Indian diaspora including students and professionals.Under the theme Run to Serve the Nation, participants from Doha came together for community runs of 1km, 2km, and 6km, turning the event into a powerful statement of collectiveness.It embodied India’s Swadeshi ethos, highlighting the collective call for self-reliance, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.Approximately 500 runners turned out for the event, with 100 volunteers and many community groups and community organisations joining hands.The event included the recitation of the Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat Pledge, where participants committed to contributing towards India’s journey of becoming a developed nation by 2047, a statement from the embassy said.

The Palestinian flag was raised Monday at premises of what is now Palestine's embassy to the United Kingdom (UK) in London, during a ceremony marking the country's official recognition of Palestine as a state.A ceremony was held in front of the Palestinian embassy building, attended by British parliamentarians, government representatives, and Arab diplomats.The Palestinian ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot said during the ceremony that international recognition is not just a diplomatic position, but rather a recognition that Palestine has always been a land with a people, stressing the need to remember that this recognition comes amidst unimaginable pain and suffering due to the genocide being waged against us in Gaza.The UK government announced Sunday, in a statement by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, its official recognition of the State of Palestine.

The President of the sisterly Lebanese Republic, General Joseph Aoun arrived in Doha on Monday to take part in the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, scheduled to be held today. Lebanese President and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Hamad International Airport by His Excellency Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani and Acting Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Lebanese Republic to the State of Qatar Farah Berri.

The Qatar Career Development Centre (QCDC), founded by Qatar Foundation (QF), launched on Tuesday the 2025 edition of the Career Counsellors Hub at Multaqa, Education City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), the US embassy in Doha, and QF Higher Education. The two-day programme brings together 200 counsellors from public and private schools across Qatar, alongside counselors from Education City institutions, to strengthen career guidance and student support nationwide. The opening ceremony was attended by QCDC executive director Saad Abdulla al-Kharji and representatives from the MoEHE, including Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Maha Zayed al-Ruwaili and Schools and Student Affairs Department director Maryam al-Nisf al-Buainain. Others at the launch included Stefanie Altman-Winans, the chargé d’affaires at the US embassy; QF Higher Education president Francisco J Marmolejo; and Abeer al-Khalifa, the president of Pre-University Education (PUE). The Hub’s opening programme featured remarks from QCDC leadership and partner institutions, followed by a high-level panel on maximising the role of career counsellors in Qatar’s human resources development strategy. The agenda continued with bilingual training sessions, interactive workshops, and a networking exhibition connecting counselors with universities, government bodies, and education organisations. The high-level panel brought together Qatar Finance and Business Academy chief executive Dr Khalifa al-Yafei, former president of Qatar University HE Prof Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau’s Civil Service Affairs director Yaqoub Saleh al-Ishaq, and Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs al-Ruwaili. The session was moderated by career development expert Dr Hamda Hamad al-Naemi, and examined how unified standards, enhanced counselor capacity-building, and school-university-employer linkages can translate national strategies into daily impact for students. “Career Counselors Hub is where policy meets practice,” said QCDC executive director al-Kharji. In her address at the Hub, al-Ruwaili noted that the Hub “has become an essential platform for exchanging experience and best practices – empowering students to chart their academic and career paths in an informed and deliberate manner”. "The US embassy is proud to collaborate with Qatari institutions, including the dedicated hosts of this Counselors’ Hub, to connect students with opportunities to study, research, and innovate in Qatar and the US," said Altman-Winans. “Counsellors play a vital role in guiding and supporting students as they take their next steps into higher education, and we are deeply grateful for the partnership we share with them,” said Marmolejo. “At Qatar Foundation’s Education City, we are proud to offer a unique environment where world-class universities, research, and student life come together to empower young people.” The Hub is positioned as an operational pillar of the national career guidance ecosystem developed by the QCDC with MoEHE and partner institutions. It standardises counselor capacity-building, promotes evidence-based tools, and strengthens pathways between schools, higher education, and employers, supporting the Human Development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.

India, which exported agarwood worth $4.25mn globally in 2024-25, has showcased before key stakeholders in Qatar, its premium quality domestic agarwood, particularly from the North-Eastern region.In this regard, the Embassy of India in Doha, in coordination with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MoDoNER), Government of India, and the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), organised a hybrid buyer–seller meet on agarwood and its derivatives.Around 150 participants from India and Qatar, including 46 exporters from India and nearly 35 perfume importers, hypermarkets, and supermarkets from Qatar, joined the event.Leading buyers from Qatar expressed "strong interest" in exploring opportunities for collaboration in perfumery, retail, and hospitality sectors, where agarwood and its derivatives enjoy deep cultural, and economic significance."There is a growing demand for agarwood products in Qatar and the wider GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region," said an official of the organisers.The meet showcased the federal government's initiatives to enhance sustainable cultivation, streamline exports, and ensure global competitiveness.Angshuman Dey, Joint Secretary, MoDoNER, delivered a keynote address highlighting the significance of the Indian agarwood industry.He emphasised the unique heritage and premium quality of Indian agarwood, particularly from the North-Eastern region, as well as the Government of India’s initiatives to enhance sustainable cultivation.The meet saw participation from representatives of Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, and Meghalaya — the key North-Eastern states where agarwood is traditionally cultivated and processed.India’s agarwood industry today offers a wide portfolio of products — from agarwood chips, oils, incense, and attars to perfumes, wellness items, and even innovative products like agarwood tea. Globally, India exported agarwood worth $4.25mn (86,173kg) in 2024–25. Recognizing the rising international demand, the federal government has substantially expanded export quotas.For 2024–27, export quotas for agarwood chips have been increased from 25,000 kg to more than 151,000 kg, and for agarwood oil from 1,500 kg to more than 7,000 kg.In parallel, digital licensing systems and national quality standards are being introduced to ensure sustainability, transparency, and compliance with CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) regulations.The event showcased the power of collaboration by connecting India’s exporters with Qatar’s leading buyers, opening new avenues for trade, innovation, and partnerships in the fragrant world of Oud.

The Thai embassy in Doha, in collaboration with Qatar Museums (QM), is set to open a week-long exhibition, titled “Thailand’s Innovative Upcycling for Everyday Life” at M7 Gallery Monday.The exhibition, which runs until September 14, aims to showcase Thailand’s expertise and best practices of circular economy with Qatar by highlighting Thailand’s successful journey.It demonstrates how science and creativity can offer tangible, scalable alternatives to unsustainable consumption, making the circular economy part of daily life.According to the embassy, the exhibition will also showcase to local researchers, designers, public servants, and the general public that wastes can be turned into usable items and encourage recycling/upcycling for a truly circular economy.Building on Thailand’s participation at the Earthna Summit 2025, this exhibition will underline Thailand’s human-centred approach to sustainability integrating modern technology, local wisdom, and environmental responsibility to promote inclusive, practical, and enduring development.Featured exhibits will include sustainable products made from recycled plastic, agricultural by-products, marine debris, and industrial waste, ranging from eco-textiles and biodegradable packaging to artisanal homeware and lifestyle items.The exhibition is open to the public.

"We should be committed to mutual respect and win-win co-operation to advance China-Qatar relations to new heights as China and Qatar are both peace-loving countries," stressed the Chinese Charge d’Affaires Wang Ying on Thursday at the Chinese Embassy Doha.She pointed out that "under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani, the China-Qatar strategic partnership has gone through an 11-year golden period of development. Currently, the China-Qatar relationship is at its highest level in history and has become a model of friendly co-operation between countries."She noted that "China and Qatar have supported each other on issues which bear on our respective core interests and major concerns, and in pursuing development paths which suit our national conditions."Further, "the bilateral trade volume increased from $10.6bn in 2014 to $24.22bn in 2024, marking a growth of over 128%. Since 2020, China has remained Qatar’s largest trading partner and top export destination for five consecutive years. China-Qatar co-operation features a strong complementarity and delivers tangible benefits to the people of both countries," she said.In the meantime, she noted that "both China and Qatar are advocating for justice on the Gaza conflict, as we are jointly working to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. Since the Gaza conflict erupted, Qatar has been actively participating in mediation, and successfully helped achieve ceasefire agreements and release of hostages twice. The international community highly appreciates Qatar's tireless efforts in striving for peace and alleviating humanitarian crisis."She further pointed out that China has upheld an objective and fair position, and been committed to safeguarding peace and lives. China pushed for the adoption of the first resolution of ceasefire in Gaza by the United Nations Security Council, facilitated the reconciliation dialogue and the signing of the Beijing Declaration by the 14 Palestinian factions, and deliveredmultiple batches of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.The Chinese Chargé d’Affaires in Doha stressed that "The humanitarian crisis in Gaza must not continue, and the Palestinian question must not be marginalized once again. The legitimate aspirations of the Arab nation should be fulfilled as soon as possible, and the just voice of the vast Islamic world must be heeded. The “two-state solution” remains the only viable way out of the turmoil for the Middle East, and the international community should take more concrete and effective actions to this end. "She expressed her country's stand saying that "China stands ready to work with Qatar to strengthen the synergy of both countries’ development strategies, jointly promote the community with a shared future for humanity, uphold international fairness and justice, advance on the journey toward national prosperity and rejuvenation, and bring more benefit to the two peoples."

A high-ranking business delegation from the German Near and Middle East Association (NUMOV e.V.) will travel to Qatar in the coming days for a multi-day visit, according to the German embassy in Doha. The delegation aims to further strengthen economic relations between Germany and Qatar and to explore new opportunities for co-operation in forward-looking sectors. The delegation will be led by Silvio Konrad, COO Energy and Resources, TÜV Nord Group, and will include high-ranking business representatives of leading German companies and company representations in the fields of energy, engineering, industry, digitalisation, technology, circular economy, culture and healthcare, such as TÜV Nord, SAP, Linde and Steinway & Sons. Owners of SMEs, who are also active as private investors, are also part of the delegation. During the visit, the delegation will hold talks with Qatari government officials, business associations, and private sector representatives. Particular focus will be placed on engaging with Qatari key players from all sectors and stakeholders about further enhancing our ties, exploring new opportunities for business collaboration and looking for joint projects in different areas. “Germany and Qatar have enjoyed a close and trusting partnership for many years.
