The Amiri Diwan announces that funeral prayers for the late HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani will be held on Sunday, July 12, after Maghrib prayer at Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha. The burial will be in the Lusail Cemetery.The Amiri Diwan also announces that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will receive condolences from mourners from heads of state, members of the ruling family, dignitaries, and citizens at Al-Lusail Palace as follows:Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, July 13, 14, and 15, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM and after Asr prayer until Isha prayer.

His Excellency Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, received on Sunday a copy of the credentials of Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the State of Qatar, Jeta Kreka.HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs wished the Ambassador success in her duties, emphasizing utmost support to enhance bilateral relations and foster closer cooperation in various fields.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that three people, including one child, sustained injuries as a result of falling debris from interception operations. It noted that the injured are receiving necessary medical care."As part of its continuous monitoring of developments on the ground, the Ministry of Interior confirms that security authorities and Civil Defence teams initiated their response procedures in accordance with the approved emergency plans following the Iranian attacks", the ministry said in a statement Sunday.The ministry also clarified that national public safety and emergency alerts are activated only when circumstances require the implementation of additional urgent precautionary measures to safeguard public safety. It further urged the public to obtain information solely from official sources and to refrain from circulating rumors or sharing unverified information, images, or video clips, in order to avoid legal accountability.The Ministry of Interior's competent security authorities continue to operate with full readiness around the clock, ensuring a rapid response, safeguarding the security and safety of the community, and maintaining the uninterpreted provision of services, the statement confirmed. 

The Ministry of Defence announced that the Qatari Armed Forces intercepted a number of ballistic missile attacks that targeted the State of Qatar.

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) announced the end of the security threat and the return to normalcy, calling on everyone to abide by the instructions issued by the relevant authorities. 

 Qatar’s population policies over the past decades has proven to maintain a balance between the size and composition of the population, labour market requirements, public services and environmental sustainability, making the inhabitants enjoy some of the highest living standards globally.  Recent international rankings indicate that such policies are reflected in several quality of life indicators. In the 2026 Mid-Year Quality of Life Index published by Numbeo, Qatar ranked 12th globally, improving six places compared with the previous ranking and placing second in Asia. Safety continues to be one of Qatar’s strongest performance indicators. According to Numbeo’s country database, Qatar maintains a Safety Index of more than 84 points, placing it among the safest countries worldwide. High safety levels contribute directly to the quality of life, support business confidence and reinforce the country’s attractiveness for skilled professionals and international investment.  According to the latest data, Qatar’s population exceeded three millions in the recent years, supported by continued economic expansion, labour market demand and major infrastructure investments. This has driven the need for more investments in healthcare, education, transportation, utilities and housing.  Accordingly, healthcare remains another major component of Qatar’s population strategy. Continuous expansion of hospitals, primary healthcare centres and specialised medical facilities has increased healthcare capacity alongside population growth. The country has also invested heavily in digital health services, preventive care and precision medicine programmes, helping improve access to healthcare while supporting long-term public health objectives.Besides, education policies have similarly focused on preparing a skilled workforce capable of supporting economic diversification. Investments in schools, educational institutes and centres, international universities, technical education and research institutions have been experiencing constant expansion over the recent years due to the increasing demand on quality and specialised educational and training service. Similarly, infrastructure investment has played an equally important role in supporting population policies, as over the past decade, the country has completed one of the largest infrastructure development programmes in the region. Major projects include Hamad International Airport’s expansion, Hamad Port, the Doha Metro, Lusail Tram, new expressways, integrated utility networks and large-scale residential developments. These projects have increased transport capacity, reduced travel times and improved access to essential services while accommodating a growing population.  Housing affordability also remains a relatively strong indicator compared with many developed economies. According to the 2026 Numbeo Quality of Life Index, Qatar records one of the lowest property price-to-income ratios among highly ranked countries. Accordingly, Qatar has continued to attract skilled professionals to support growth in sectors identified under the Third National Development Strategy, including financial services, logistics, tourism, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.  In the meantime, environmental sustainability has become increasingly integrated into demographic planning. Urban expansion is supported by investments in district cooling systems, energy-efficient buildings, public transportation, water conservation and waste management. Further, digital transformation has further improved public service delivery. Government services are increasingly available through integrated digital platforms, allowing residents to access licensing, healthcare appointments, residency services, payments and administrative procedures electronically.  Qatar also continues to perform strongly in international competitiveness indicators beyond the quality of life. The country remains among the world’s highest-income economies on a per-capita basis and consistently ranks among the leading countries in the Middle East for infrastructure quality, digital connectivity and public safety.

Qatar Charity (QC) continues to provide cooking gas support to Rohingya refugees living on Bhasan Char in Bangladesh, as part of its ongoing humanitarian relief efforts. Through this latest intervention, approximately 4,810 individuals have benefited from the distribution of cooking gas cylinders, ensuring access to safe, efficient, and reliable cooking fuel. The initiative continues to improve the daily lives of refugee families by reducing their dependence on traditional firewood and other unsafe cooking methods. For many refugee households, access to cooking fuel remains an essential daily need. By providing cooking gas cylinders, Qatar Charity seeks to promote safer cooking practices, improve health and well-being, reduce environmental pressure, and ease the daily burden on vulnerable refugee families. Mabia Khatun, a refugee mother living on Bhasan Char, expressed her appreciation after receiving the support. “Before receiving the gas cylinder, daily cooking was extremely difficult for my family. We often struggled to manage fuel for preparing meals,” she said. “Now cooking has become much easier, safer, and more convenient.” Abdul Matlab, a 42-year-old refugee, also shared his experience. “This support has brought great relief to our household. With cooking gas, we can prepare meals more quickly and live with greater comfort,” he said. “We sincerely thank Qatar Charity for supporting us.” Government officials have praised Qatar Charity’s continued contribution to improving living conditions for refugees on Bhasan Char. Mohammed Roney Alam Noor, Camp-in-Charge, Bhasan Char, expressed his appreciation to Qatar Charity for the smooth and well-organised LPG distribution, particularly highlighting the fair and needs-based selection of beneficiaries and the distribution’s visible positive impact. He said, “Qatar Charity’s LPG support has made a significant difference in the lives of Rohingya families living on Bhasan Char. The distribution process was well-organised, transparent, and ensured that support reached those who needed it most.” Over the last three years, Qatar Charity’s cooking gas intervention has benefited approximately 200,000 people, demonstrating its long-term commitment to supporting Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

The Qatar Toy Festival is drawing families with far more than the latest toys this summer, highlighting a growing appetite for experience-based entertainment through live performances, interactive games, creative workshops and character encounters at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).  Running until July 31, the month-long event has returned bigger than ever, transforming the DECC into a vibrant indoor destination where children can meet their favourite characters, enjoy magical stage shows and explore dozens of attractions designed to keep them active and engaged during the school holidays. Organised by Visit Qatar, this year’s festival features an expanded programme that includes dancing and music performances, science demonstrations, celebrity appearances, mascot meet-and-greets, five themed islands, 10 retail stores and nearly 30 entertainment corners. The festival’s attractions range from giant inflatable playgrounds and obstacle courses to racing simulators, arcade games, creative stations and live productions, offering children opportunities to play, learn and interact beyond traditional toy shopping. Doha resident Connie M, who visited the festival with her two sons, said the event has become increasingly appealing because it encourages children to be active and creative, and to spend less time on electronic devices. “My two boys have spent most of their time trying the games, watching the live shows and taking part in the activities,” she said. “It’s the kind of experience they’ll remember long after the summer is over,” she added. She noted that the festival provides families with opportunities to spend quality time together while allowing children to explore a wide variety of activities.  “What makes this festival special is that it gives children the chance to do things together instead of simply asking for toys,” Connie said. “My sons have been laughing, exploring and trying new activities, and they were constantly moving from one attraction to another, which made the day much more enjoyable for all of us.” The event also highlights the growing popularity of interactive entertainment, with children participating in obstacle challenges, creative workshops, sports activities, role-playing experiences and live performances alongside toy shopping. Adding a new dimension this year is the Back-to-School exhibition during the festival’s final week. The programme will feature promotional offers, educational stage shows and family-friendly competitions aimed at helping children prepare for the new academic year.  At the School Bus zone, children can personalise backpacks, pencil cases, water bottles and other school items using stickers, markers and key chains, combining creativity with practical back-to-school preparations. 

 As Qatar continues to encourage youth engagement and sustainability, cultural organisations are helping young people learn important life values through heritage, sport and community service. One of them is Kenya Green Maasai Qatar (KGMQ), which uses Maasai traditions to promote cultural understanding, environmental awareness and social responsibility. Through school visits, partnerships with local tourism organisations, and participation in cultural and sporting events, KGMQ introduces children and young people to Kenyan culture in an engaging and interactive way. Samuel Kiragu, a member of KGMQ, said participants take part in Kenyan cultural dances, storytelling, traditional games and cultural demonstrations, giving them a chance to experience Maasai traditions firsthand. “These interactive activities promote respect for cultural diversity, teamwork and mutual understanding while introducing key Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education, gender equality and environmental conservation,” Kiragu told Gulf Times. He said the programmes also teach the Green Maasai values of community, respect for nature and shared responsibility, helping young people become more aware of other cultures and the environment. Kiragu added that preserving culture is not only about keeping traditions alive but also about helping young people become responsible members of society. Another KGMQ member, Catherine Kamau, said culture and sport are effective ways to encourage unity, leadership and respect among young people.“Kenya Green Maasai Qatar inspires young people by using Maasai culture and sport to promote unity, respect, leadership and pride in their heritage,” she said. Kamau noted that cultural performances at international events allow young people to celebrate diversity while proudly representing Kenya and learning to appreciate other cultures. She added that the organisation also involves young people in community clean-up drives, volunteer work and environmental awareness activities, encouraging them to care for the environment and give back to the community.  According to Kamau, these activities support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to education, gender equality and environmental protection.  As Qatar continues to host international cultural events, KGMQ believes culture and sport can help bring communities together while encouraging young people to become responsible and active members of society. For the organisation, every cultural performance, traditional game and volunteer activity is another opportunity to teach respect, teamwork and care for the environment while building friendships across cultures.
