His Excellency Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Qatar won two bronze medals in fencing and wrestling at the Islamic Solidarity Games, currently being held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, until Nov. 21.More than 3,000 athletes representing 57 countries are participating in the Games.The Qatari delegation's two medals were won by Khalid Al Yafei, who took bronze in the men's foil fencing competition, and Shaheen Mohammad, who won bronze in the 77 kg wrestling category.Qatar's medal tally now stands at seven, including three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.In handball, the Qatari national team defeated the Maldives 44-6, finishing the first stage at the top of Group A with a perfect record. They will face Bahrain, the runner-up in Group B, in the semifinals. The other semifinal match will see Saudi Arabia, the top team in Group B, take on the UAE, the runner-up in Group A.The Qatari national team had won its previous two matches against Iran (39-23) and the UAE (41-24), and aims to retain the gold medal it won in the previous edition of the Games, held in Konya, Turkiye in 2022.In camel racing, Hazem Abdullah Al Nudailah qualified for the men's 2000-meter final after finishing second in the second heat held at the Al-Janadriyah Racecourse. Qatar Chamber hosted a high-level German trade delegation Wednesday, headed by Katharina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. The delegation was received by Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, in the presence of several board members, a group of Qatari businessmen, and German ambassador Oliver Owcza.During the meeting, the German delegation and Qatari business leaders discussed co-operation relations, the investment climate in both Qatar and Germany, available investment opportunities, and the role of the private sector in promoting bilateral trade.They also discussed ways to enhance co-operation in key economic sectors such as energy, industry, and information technology. Sheikh Khalifa highlighted the strong and friendly relations between both countries, as well as the economic co-operation, which reflects the keenness of both leaderships to advance this partnership to broader horizons. He noted that Germany has long represented a model of excellence in advanced manufacturing and innovation and is one of the fundamental pillars of the global economy.He emphasised that the Qatar Chamber is proud of the presence of many German companies — known for their high technical expertise and global standards — whether as major partners or as independent entities in numerous large-scale projects in the country. Sheikh Khalifa also pointed out that Qatar has emerged as a leading commercial and industrial hub thanks to its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and modern logistical facilities.He said the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached QR6.6bn in 2024, noting that the meeting with the German delegation represents a practical step toward a stronger economic future for both nations. He expected that the ongoing dialogue, the exchange of expertise, and the activation of investment partnerships would open new horizons for co-operation. Sheikh Khalifa noted that Qatari investments in Germany, which span multiple sectors, are clear evidence of Qatar’s confidence in the German economy. At the same time, the Qatari side values the role of German companies operating in Qatar and their contribution to the development of many productive sectors.He called on companies from both sides to take advantage of the promising opportunities available in fields such as manufacturing, advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, clean energy, healthcare, sports, education, and many other sectors.Katharina affirmed that Qatar is a major and highly important partner for Germany, noting that 110 German companies had expressed a desire to join the delegation to Qatar, as all of them are interested in establishing partnerships and alliances with Qatari companies. She said 20 leading companies representing various sectors accompanied her on this visit and are eager to develop strategic alliances with their Qatari counterparts. She highlighted that the volume of trade between the two countries, particularly Qatar’s exports of raw materials and petrochemicals to Germany, reflects the strength of the bilateral partnership.She added that the growth of Germany’s GDP, along with the strong performance of the Qatari economy, which is expected to achieve 5% growth in the coming years, presents significant opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two nations.The German Minister also noted that around 100 German companies are currently exploring opportunities related to digital transformation in Qatar and are ready to participate actively in this sector. During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their strong desire to expand co-operation and establish commercial partnerships across various sectors, especially in energy, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, carbon emissions reduction, satellites, space technology, and aviation.

The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman), one of the centers operating under Qatar Foundation (QF), launched the interactive game "Aman Journey" on Tuesday. The event was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and the Doha Bank Group (DBG), marking the celebration of World Children's Day 2025, observed annually on November 20.The launch took place in a dedicated QF pavilion, with Assistant Undersecretary for Special Education Affairs, Omar Abdulaziz al-Naama, alongside several of Aman's partners from various sectors in attendance. Acting Executive Director of Aman, Fadhel bin Mohammed al-Kaabi, emphasised that the center is committed to producing innovative interactive programmes for children, noting that the game aims to strengthen children's awareness of social protection issues, imbue them with skills to hold off all kinds of violence, and reinforce personality building and positive behavior.It is essential to merge technology with awareness projects targeting women and children alike. This approach aligns with Qatar National Vision and efforts to support innovation, as well as the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy, which emphasizes digital economy advancement and leveraging technology more broadly to serve the community, al-Kaabi highlighted.He stressed the need for concerted efforts among relevant agencies in the educational and health sectors to ensure a safe environment for children and to push back against violence directed at them, considering them the cornerstone of the future. Director of Community Awareness at Aman, Bukhita al-Ghiathin, explained that the game is an interactive digital platform available on the MoEHE’s Qatar Education portal, targeting children aged 4 to 8 years.The game takes the child on a journey through landmarks in Qatar, delivering awareness content in a question-and-answer format, away from conventional methods, thereby strengthening the child's understanding of social protection mechanisms and how to safeguard themselves at home and in public spaces, outlined al-Ghiathin.Director of the Office of Communication & Media at Aman, Hanan al-Ali, underscored the importance of community partnership in the success of the project, noting that DBG provides prizes for participants, selecting the best player who applies healthy behavioral practices in interactions with others.The game will be available to all public and private schools via the Qatar Education Platform and will be introduced through Aman's awareness workshops in schools, alongside a dedicated pavilion to showcase and operate the game for visitors, as well as promotion through social media platforms, she said.

Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, has announced the graduation of 24 high school students from its first Future Doctor Programme, an immersive educational initiative to introduce young learners to the world of modern medicine.The Future Doctor Programme is hosted at Sidra Medicine’s state-of-the-art Simulation Centre and offers students a structured, five-day experience that mirrors real clinical environments. Led by a team of Simulation instructors and cross-departmental clinical educators, the programme includes interactive workshops, multi-station simulation training using advanced manikins, and guided clinical exposure.Prof Ibrahim Janahi, chief medical officer and chair, Medical Education at Sidra Medicine, said: “Nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals is a core pillar of our mission at Sidra Medicine. The Future Doctor Programme provides students with real, hands-on exposure to the world of medicine and research.We are incredibly proud of the 24 graduates who have demonstrated passion, curiosity, and commitment to learning, playing a role in redefining the future of healthcare in Qatar.” As part of the curriculum, students completed Basic Life Support and CPR accredited by the American Heart Association, alongside introductory skills in first aid, emergency response, and patient communication.The programme is delivered by Sidra Medicine’s clinical and technical experts, ensuring that participants learn in a safe, supportive, and highly specialized environment. Dr Murtada Hammad, director, Medical Education Operations at Sidra Medicine, added: “This programme reflects our belief that early engagement is key to inspiring young people to pursue careers in healthcare. Through simulation, clinical observation, and skill-building activities, students can connect theory with practice in a meaningful way.”

The Gulf Studies Centre at College of Arts and Sciences, Qatar University (QU), organised the 10th edition of its annual multidisciplinary conference, bringing together researchers, policymakers, and experts from academic institutions across the Gulf region and beyond.Under the theme ‘Bridging Tradition and Progress’, this year’s conference featured more than 10 speakers from QU and other regional and international universities, including Kuwait University, Abu Dhabi University, Bahrain University, Lebanese University, Colombia University, Oxford University, and the University of Edinburgh, in addition to experts from Unesco.Through seven specialised academic sessions, participants discussed topics related to family, artificial intelligence (AI), cultural diplomacy, law, language, and other issues connected to social transformations in the region.The sessions addressed themes related to national identity amid globalisation, the role of the family in social and economic development, and the relationship between modernisation and cultural continuity.The discussions highlighted the challenges faced by Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries as they work to balance modernisation requirements with the preservation of heritage and social traditions.In her remarks, Dr Fatima Ali al-Kubaisi, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at QU, noted that culture, national identity, and the role of the family form essential pillars of national development, making the integration of cultural discourse into development strategies a necessity across the region. Stars of Science, an initiative hosted at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, is marking its 17th season, celebrating its evolution from a televised competition into a leading scientific and creative movement that is helping shape the region's innovation ecosystem.Since its launch in 2009, the initiative has supported the development of 55 innovative projects and partnered with hundreds of educational institutions, inspiring thousands of young people to pursue their ideas.
