Qatar Airways has increased capacity to Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Shanghai, and Singapore this winter season to meet the global demand on these routes. This increase in flight frequency is part of the airline's broader winter schedule enhancements, which have already introduced additional frequencies to more than 15 major destinations, including Cape Town, Dublin, London, Phuket, and Toronto.In a statement, the airline said that the growing demand for Qatar Airways' travel experience resulted in the airline offering nearly 3,000 additional flights this year. Starting 17 December 2025, Qatar Airways flights to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) will increase from 14 to 17 weekly flights. The additional services will offer seamless connections between Southeast Asia and Jeddah, London, and Paris through Doha.Effective 15 December 2025 until 28 March 2026, Qatar Airways' services to Lagos (LOS) will increase from 10 to 14 weekly. The increased frequency enhances connectivity between the Nigeria and Qatar Airways' extensive global network of over 170 destinations, facilitating smoother travel for both business and leisure passengers to Delhi, Guangzhou, and London. Effective 01 January to 28 March 2026, services will rise from 7 to 10 weekly flights to meet growing inbound and outbound demand from China. This frequency increase will further enhance connectivity between Asia and Qatar Airways' key destinations across Algiers, São Paulo, and Warsaw.From 12 January 2026, Qatar Airways will deploy the Airbus A380 on select flights to Singapore, offering enhanced capacity and an elevated premium experience. The airline's global connectivity is supported by its diverse fleet of aircraft that includes a mix of Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 equipped with ultra-high-speed Starlink on-board Wi-Fi. Qatar Airways is the first airline in the world to fully equip and operate over 100 widebody aircraft with Starlink, and the first carrier in the MENA region to offer the service. Passengers in both Premium and Economy cabins enjoy free, gate-to-gate Wi-Fi, with speeds of up to 500 Mbps per aircraft.

Various circumstances prevented the tournament from maintaining a consistent schedule, with fluctuating numbers of participating teams.The tenth edition, hosted by Doha in 2021, marked a historic turning point for the Arab Cup, serving as a distinctive step toward global recognition after the tournament received FIFA’s official acknowledgment for the first time.FIFA’s decision to recognize the Arab Cup sought to create a unique and high-quality experience to test the facilities that Qatar had built to host the FIFA World Cup 2022, including stadiums and infrastructure, as it was the first World Cup held in the Middle East and the Arab region. Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has successfully participated in the ‘BIG Quantum Hackathon Qatar 2025’, a national event organised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The event was hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), sponsored by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and supported by knowledge partners QuantX and Boston Consulting Group (BCG).Bringing together major entities and leading organisations across key sectors, the hackathon represents an important milestone in advancing Qatar’s capabilities in quantum technologies and accelerating the country’s digital transformation journey.As part of the challenge structure, each participating organisation developed a real-world use case relevant to its industry. QIB’s Data Science & AI team mentored a group of students participating in a hackathon on a pioneering AI use case titled ‘Enhanced Retail Credit Risk Scoring using Quantum Machine Learning (QML)’.The team demonstrated the potential of quantum-based algorithms to enhance credit evaluation models, improve risk segmentation accuracy, and unlock more efficient and data-driven decision-making. Over the coming years, emerging quantum capabilities are expected to complement traditional modelling techniques.By integrating QML into their risk assessment pipelines, financial institutions will gain a competitive edge through more accurate, fair, and explainable credit decisions. Constantinos Constantinides, QIB Chief Strategy and Digital officer, said: “Exploring the potential of quantum technologies is a natural extension of QIB’s strategy to strengthen our digital and Artificial Intelligence capabilities.The BIG Quantum Hackathon enabled our teams to work closely with emerging quantum tools and evaluate their long-term relevance to financial services.” Held for the first time in Qatar, the BIG Quantum Hackathon introduced practical applications of quantum computing across finance, energy, telecom, aviation, and defence.The event enabled cross-sector collaboration, knowledge exchange, and hands-on experimentation with next-generation quantum platforms. It also supports Qatar’s vision to build a strong and sustainable technological ecosystem aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Gulf-Qatari Classic Car Association launched the sixth edition of the Qatar Luxury Classic Cars Contest & Exhibition 2025 at The Pearl Island yesterday, featuring some of the world’s rarest vintage vehicles.The expanded showcase, held under the honorary patronage of Qatar Museums (QM) Chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, was inaugurated by prominent Qatari businessman and philanthropist HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani. He is also the chairman of Al Faisal Holding, and the founder of the Al Faisal Global Foundation for Culture and Knowledge. He was joined by Ahmed al-Hammadi, director general of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority and Chairman of United Development Company (UDC).Running until November 23 at Medina Centrale, the event is held under the direct supervision of the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) and displays an array of classic vehicles from Qatar and across the GCC.HE Sheikh Faisal lauded the exhibition as a major milestone, driven by record-breaking regional participation for the second year running. Qatari businessman and philanthropist His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani led the inauguration of the sixth edition of the Qatar Luxury Classic Cars Contest & Exhibition 2025 at The Pearl Island Wednesday.He was joined by officials of the Gulf-Qatari Classic Car Association. Running until November 23 at Medina Centrale, the event displays an array of classic vehicles from Qatar and across the GCC.
