Qatar Leadership Centre to host Third Leadership Innovation Forum

Qatar Leadership Centre will host the third edition of its Leadership Innovation Forum on October 28, focusing on how strategic planning can help institutions sustain their performance beyond changes in leadership.The forum will be held under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, chairperson of the center's board, and will bring together leaders, experts and specialists from various sectors.The event will explore how organizations can establish long-term strategies, develop future leaders and build systems that ensure continuity as leadership changes.Speaking at a press conference, Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari, the center's public relations director, said the forum would provide a platform for dialogue and the exchange of expertise on leadership challenges and the demands facing institutions in the coming years.He said effective leadership was not limited to achievements during an individual's tenure, but also involved building organizations capable of maintaining progress and delivering results after a leader's departure.Al Kuwari added that institutional sustainability depended on clear strategic direction rather than simply accelerating the implementation of initiatives. He highlighted the importance of long-term planning, developing talent, applying knowledge and preparing the next generation of leaders.The forum also aims to promote the concept of leadership legacy, focusing on the systems, capabilities and organizational practices leaders leave behind to enable their successors to continue developing their institutions.Al Kuwari said the center wanted the forum's outcomes to extend beyond theoretical discussions and produce practical ideas for workplaces, particularly in strategic priority-setting, talent development, governance and leadership succession.The third edition builds on discussions at the previous two forums. The 2024 edition focused on leadership innovation, while the 2025 forum examined decision-making.This year's event will address the institutional legacy leaders leave behind and how organizations can continue to achieve their objectives beyond individual tenures.Professor Steven Wright, director of the Leadership Knowledgebase Department, said the forum would examine what enables institutions to remain successful after their founders and leaders leave.He said Qatar's experience in building national institutions offered examples that could inform discussions on sustainability, governance and organizational culture.The program will include workshops on strategic leadership for graduates of Qatar Leadership Center, alongside discussions on the characteristics of exceptional leadership and the practices that enable institutions to maintain their objectives through leadership transitions.The forum brings together graduates of the center and professionals from government, public and private sector organizations to exchange experiences and explore approaches to strengthening institutional effectiveness and resilience.

HMC to hold Qatar International Neonatal Congress 2026 in Nov

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will hold the Qatar International Neonatal Congress (QINC) 2026 from November 4 to 7. The conference has two parts: pre-conference workshops on November 4 and 5 at the ITQAN Clinical Simulation and Innovation Centre, and the main conference at Pullman West Bay on November 6 and 7. The conference will include many participants from medical facilities across the country, as well as delegates from across the region and beyond. Attendees will have several workshop options, especially during the pre-conference programme. According to the chairperson of the congress, Dr Mai Abdulla al-Qubaisi, senior consultant and director of NICU, chair of the Corporate Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Department, Women’s Wellness and Research Centre (WWRC) HMC, the event aims to explore the frontiers of neonatal medicine and redefine the standards of care for the smallest and most vulnerable patients. “This year’s scientific programme is meticulously curated to address the most critical pillars of our field. We will delve into advanced strategies in neonatal neurology, optimise precision nutrition, and refine our approach to sepsis management. Furthermore, we will highlight the indispensable role of POCUS (Point-of-Care Ultrasound) as a bedside diagnostic cornerstone,” said Dr al-Qubaisi. According to the official, a key highlight of this edition will be the exploration of the Integration of Artificial Intelligence, ensuring that technology augments clinical expertise. “Beyond the clinical sessions, this conference remains a premier platform for global networking. It is an opportunity to engage with world-renowned experts, share transformative research, and foster collaborations that transcend borders,” added Dr al-Qubaisi. Neonatology is a rapidly evolving frontier, where staying current with evidence-based practices is not just a professional requirement but a clinical imperative. This year’s conference aims to bridge the gap between foundational care and the cutting-edge technologies that are redefining newborn outcomes. A central focus of this event is the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in personalising treatment and enhancing diagnostic precision. The conference and associated workshops, according to the organisers, aim to equip participants with emerging concepts and skills in the field. One of the conference’s primary goals is to recognise and understand the basic concepts of recent mechanical ventilation strategies to enhance respiratory support in neonates. It also focuses on understanding and applying high-frequency ventilation techniques in appropriate and safe settings to improve respiratory outcomes. Advancing understanding of the neonatal brain remains a top priority, and the Congress focuses on integrating advanced neuro-monitoring and management with long-term neurodevelopmental follow-up strategies to protect the fragile developing brain. Furthermore, the Congress aims to implement the best practices to achieve optimal growth and developmental outcomes for neonates through evidence-based nutritional strategies. The Congress offers an enriching experience that promises to be both scientifically rigorous and deeply inspiring.

The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), a Qatar Foundation global health initiative, has announced that its eighth summit will take place on November 29-30 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) in Doha, under the theme *The New Health Span. The summit will place Qatar at the centre of a global conversation on one of the defining health questions of our time: how to ensure that longer lives are also healthier, more dignified and more equitably supported. WISH 2026 will bring together leaders from healthcare, government, academia, research, technology, innovation, the private sector and civil society to examine how health is understood, delivered and governed in an era of rapid demographic and technological change. Across many parts of the world, people are living longer than previous generations, reflecting major achievements in medicine, public health, and science and technology. Yet, longer lives do not automatically mean better health. For some people, extra years are active and well supported; for others, they are shaped by chronic illness, isolation, unaffordable care, or systems that were never designed for ageing populations. “The question at the heart of WISH 2026 is simple, but deeply consequential: how do we help people live not only longer lives, but better ones?” said WISH chief executive Dr Slim Slama. “No single country, sector or discipline can answer this question alone,” he said. “It requires the experience of health systems at different stages of development, the insight of researchers and practitioners, the perspectives of policymakers and the voices of communities themselves.” “WISH brings these diverse global perspectives together in Doha so that evidence, experience and ideas can be examined with the seriousness these challenges demand,” Dr Slama added. The summit programme will be organised around five pillars: The Longevity Dividend, Financing the Cure, AI and Human-Centred Health, Future of Fertility, and Health Diplomacy 2.0. Sessions will explore how societies can support healthier ageing and create conditions for people to remain active and connected for longer.They will examine the financing models needed to make breakthrough therapies accessible and sustainable. Discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) and human-centred health will explore how AI can strengthen health systems while safeguarding trust, safety, and accountability. The Future of Fertility pillar will address emerging scientific advances, alongside complex ethical and regulatory questions. Health Diplomacy 2.0 will consider how countries work together on health amid conflict, climate pressures, migration, disease outbreaks, and supply chain disruptions. Together, these discussions will ask what needs to change in systems, policies, technologies, financing models, and communities so that longer life can also mean better life. This wider view is central to WISH, which creates space for health to be considered not only as a clinical issue but as something shaped by decisions, systems and relationships across society. It also ensures that perspectives from different health-system realities – including countries where innovation is often needed most but reaches people last – are part of the same global conversation. Registration for WISH 2026 is now open at wish.org.qa, where participants can find program updates and practical information.

Snoonu Cloud: From super app to technology export

Seven years ago, Snoonu was a food delivery startup in Qatar; a country of 3.18mn people, a market most global tech investors would have called too small to matter.Today, Snoonu is Qatar's first tech company to cross a QR1bn valuation. It is selling the infrastructure that powered its growth to governments and businesses globally.That shift - from platform to infrastructure provider - is the story behind Snoonu Cloud, a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) product launched during Web Summit Qatar 2026. Snoonu attempted to do what almost no company from a small Gulf market has done before: export the technology stack it built for itself and turn it into a product others can build on.The question worth asking is not whether Snoonu can pull it off; it is why this story is only starting to be told.Snoonu was founded in 2019. By 2024, it had achieved profitability and tripled its gross merchandise value. It was acquired in a $245mn deal by Saudi-listed Jahez International, the largest tech acquisition in Qatar's history, at a post-money valuation of $320mn, making it the first Qatari startup to break the QR1bn mark.But the valuation number alone undersells what was actually built. Over six years, Snoonu did not just build a delivery app. It built a full-stack ecosystem: multi-vertical commerce, last-mile logistics, cloud infrastructure, and a data layer that now spans millions of transactions across food, grocery, e-commerce, and services.That stack became the foundation for something larger. At Web Summit Qatar 2026, alongside new ventures in robotics and EV charging, Snoonu unveiled the commercial version of its infrastructure: Snoonu Cloud.Snoonu Cloud is a PaaS model that allows governments, businesses, and markets to deploy Snoonu's integrated ecosystem — commerce, logistics, and digital services — within their own markets. In plain terms: A partner can take Snoonu's proven tech infrastructure, adapt it to local needs, and launch their own digital ecosystem without building from scratch.That is a significant proposition. Building a delivery and commerce ecosystem from zero typically takes years and tens of millions in R&D. Snoonu Cloud compresses that timeline, offering a ready-to-deploy framework built on cloud-native architecture, AI-driven logistics, and data systems proven at scale in a live market.“We started by solving everyday challenges, and today we are enabling entire ecosystems to be built from the ground up. This is about taking a model created in Qatar and scaling it globally,” said Snoonu founder & CEO Hamad al-Hajri.“Our goal is to empower governments and businesses with the infrastructure they need to launch and scale digital ecosystems faster, more efficiently, and with full adaptability to local market needs,” said Abdulaziz Alqahtani, GM of S Cloud & Robotics at Snoonu.The timing is not accidental. The global cloud market is valued at $1.18tn in 2026 and is projected to reach $3.35tn by 2033. PaaS is its fastest-growing segment. Within the GCC alone, the cloud market stood at $16.45bn in 2024 and is expanding at a 20.3% compound annual growth rate — one of the highest rates of any region globally.But the more compelling data point is not the size of the market — it's where the gap is. Dozens of governments and mid-sized economies across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America are in active digital transformation but lack the local expertise or capital to build their own ecosystems from scratch. Snoonu Cloud is designed precisely for that gap.There is a larger story sitting underneath the Snoonu Cloud announcement that has so far received limited coverage: the emergence of Qatar as a digital innovation exporter rather than a consumer of imported technology.Qatar Investment Authority's $3bn fund-of-funds, QRDI Council grants supporting Snoonu's robotics programme, and the country's hosting of Web Summit — now one of the world's largest tech conferences — are pieces of the same puzzle. Snoonu Cloud is where that infrastructure investment becomes a product.For the first time, a company built on Qatari soil and scaled within a domestic market of under 3mn people is now positioned to sell its core technology to governments and enterprises globally. That is a meaningful inflection point — for Snoonu, for Qatar, and for the narrative around which markets produce exportable technology.While Snoonu Cloud targets markets globally, the company's regional expansion offers a live proof of the underlying model. In May 2026, Snoonu launched operations in Kuwait, its first market outside Qatar, deploying groceries, courier services, gifts, and home services through its existing tech stack.Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain are not just a growth play. It is a demonstration that Snoonu's infrastructure can be adapted to a different regulatory environment, consumer profile, and competitive landscape within months. For prospective Snoonu Cloud partners, that is the case study.
