Qatar Chamber concludes sales, negotiation training

Qatar Chamber recently organised a three-day training programme titled ‘Mastering the Arts of Selling, Negotiating, & Deal Closing’, held for the first time in Qatar.The training is part of the chamber’s efforts to develop professional competencies and enhance commercial capabilities in both the public and private sectors.The programme aimed to equip participants with advanced skills in professional selling, negotiating, and deal closing, using modern practical methods focused on achieving results and building sustainable business relationships.The course was delivered by Dr Abdul Rahman Abu Khaled and targeted professionals working in sales management, marketing, business development and business relations, as well as entrepreneurs.For her part, Fatima Issa al-Kuwari, head of the Training and Development Department at Qatar Chamber, stated that the programme reflects the chamber’s commitment to developing professional skills and enhancing workforce efficiency in commercial and economic sectors, in line with labour market requirements.She noted that it focuses on practical application and building real capabilities in sales, negotiation and deal management, stressing that investment in human capital is a key pillar for achieving sustainability and growth in the business environment.Al-Kuwari added that Qatar Chamber continues to offer high-quality training in partnership with experts, aimed at providing participants with practical tools to enhance performance, achieve tangible results and build long-term business relationships.

QNA launches specialised training on protocol, etiquette for staff

Qatar News Agency (QNA) launched Sunday a specialised training course on concepts of government protocol and etiquette, receiving VIPs, agreement signing ceremonies, and the priority system, as part of the training programmes organised by the QNA Training Center, with the aim of developing the professional capabilities of staff and raising their efficiency in the field of institutional and diplomatic work.Presented by Dr Saadon bin Hussein al-Hamdani, the training course will be held at QNA training halls at QNA's headquarters for five days, with the participation of some employees from the agency's diverse departments and sections.The course aims to enable participants to understand the concepts of government protocol and etiquette, enhance their skills in official dealings and receiving VIPs, and to organise official ceremonies and events according to locally and internationally approved professional standards.The course will address several key topics, most notably: the art of diplomacy and the concepts of protocol and etiquette, theories and schools of governmental and social etiquette, international and local protocol, manners of dealing with others, organising international and local conferences and events, as well as the etiquette of handshakes, greetings and managing conversations.The course will also address the protocol for receiving VIPs and guests, the ceremonies for signing agreements, the etiquette at dining tables and exchanging gifts, in addition to the duties and powers of public relations staff, and public relations strategies and agendas and their impact on the reputation of the entity.At the end of the course, practical field applications will be implemented, allowing participants the opportunity to apply the skills they acquired during the training. This will be followed by an evaluation of their performance through a presentation of the participants' projects, along with the distribution of certificates, in recognition of their efforts and participation.The course is part of QNA training halls' plan, which was created to be an advanced platform for qualifying personnel in an interactive educational environment supported by the latest technical equipment, in order to enhance professional efficiency in various fields of institutional work.

Civil Services and Government Development Bureau launches national training and career development plan

The Civil Services and Government Development Bureau, represented by the Institute of Public Administration, has launched the National Training and Career Development Plan for 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the human development system and enhance the efficiency of human capital in the government sector.On this occasion, Director of the Institute of Public Administration Maha Al Marri affirmed that the National Training and Career Development Plan for 2026 embodies a strategic approach to building human capital within the government, in line with the Third National Development Strategy, through an integrated competency-based training system aimed at achieving tangible impact at the level of institutional performance. She added that the Institute of Public Administration is working to create a supportive environment for the effective implementation of the plan, in partnership with government entities, thereby enhancing institutional excellence in the State of Qatar.The new national plan comes in response to a fundamental shift in the state's vision for training and career development. It is based on the recent amendments to certain provisions of the Executive Regulation of Civil Human Resources, and reflects a transition from training linked to job grade to training linked to competencies and their levels. This shift contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of training programs and directly linking them to performance evaluation outcomes and individual development plans.The plan is built on a competency-based professional development methodology, through flexible training programs that include in-person training and asynchronous e-learning. It also allows employees to choose programs aligned with their career paths across three main tracks: leadership, specialized, and technical and clerical roles. These tracks cover behavioral, leadership, and technical competencies across four levels-beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert-within an integrated career development framework that combines training, performance evaluation, and career planning.

MOPH enhances the preparedness of school health providers to manage Asthma cases in Government Schools

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has recently organised a training workshop for around 90 health service providers from the Primary Health Care Corporation working in government schools, to strengthen their readiness to manage asthma cases within the school environment and equip them with the skills required to apply internationally recognised best health practices.MOPH's Director of the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention Programmes Department Sheikh Dr. Mohamed bin Hamad Al-Thani stressed the importance of the Asthma-Friendly Schools Programme in enhancing student health and ensuring a safe educational environment for students with asthma.He pointed out that the integration of efforts between the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Primary Health Care Corporation and Hamad Medical Corporation constitutes a foundation for strengthening the quality of healthcare services provided in schools.He noted that MOPH has achieved, over recent years, remarkable national accomplishments in raising awareness of asthma through large-scale activities organised on World Asthma Day, including media campaigns targeting the public, awareness workshops for the school community, and training programmes for school health staff.These efforts contribute to promoting an accurate understanding of asthma, enabling students, their families and teachers to manage the condition safely and effectively, and reducing asthma attacks within the school environment, positively reflecting on students’ health and academic progress.The Director of the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention Programmes Department also praised the major role of the Primary Health Care Corporation in implementing the Asthma-Friendly Schools Programme by providing school health staff, offering continuous training, following up students with asthma, and connecting them to essential health services.Hamad Medical Corporation also participates in the programme through its clinical expertise and advanced specialities by developing the national guidelines for asthma management, providing specialised technical training to healthcare personnel, supporting rapid intervention mechanisms for emergency cases, and enhancing the preparedness of the health system to deal with asthma complications.In her remarks during the workshop, Supervisor of the Asthma-Friendly Schools Programme, Dr. Maya Al Shaiba stated that implementing the programme across all government schools reflects Qatar’s commitment to providing a supportive and safe school environment for students with asthma. She also praised the efforts of school health staff and their significant role in improving the quality of services provided to students.The "Asthma-Friendly Schools" Programme is one of the national initiatives aimed at reducing absenteeism among students with asthma, strengthening health preparedness within schools, supporting students in managing their health condition, raising health awareness among students and their families, and reinforcing the partnership between families, schools, and the health sector.

QU in pact with Joaan Bin Jassim Academy for Defence Studies

Qatar University (QU) and Joaan Bin Jassim Academy for Defence Studies have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing joint co-operation between the two parties in scientific and practical fields, at the premises of Qatar University campus. The signing of the MoU came as part of the parties’ keenness to exchange expertise and information, co-operate in organising conferences, seminars, and training workshops, in addition to developing research and studies of mutual interest, achieving integration and contributing to improving performance efficiency in line with the requirements and standards of total quality. On this occasion, QU’s President Dr Omar al-Ansari affirmed that the signing of this MoU reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships with various national sectors, noting that this co-operation will contribute to developing the education, training, and scientific research system between the two sides. For his part, President of the Joaan Bin Jassim Academy for Defence Brigadier General Dr Rajeh Mohammed bin Aqeel al-Nabit stated, “This memorandum is not merely an agreement but an extension of a successful and productive path of co-operation between both sides. This step continues what began in 2018, when the academy signed an agreement with the university to implement a Master’s programme in defence studies, which helped prepare distinguished national cadres who combine academic knowledge with professional expertise in the defence field. Today, we build on that achievement to expand areas of co-operation and develop joint programmes that meet the State’s strategic needs and to strengthen institutional integration in research, innovation, and capacity building.

Theatre Affairs Centre to host workshop for stage writers

The Theatre Affairs Centre has announced a new training workshop, titled 'Play Writing', presented by academic and playwright Dr Sharif Manjoud, set to take place from November 15 to December 3 at the Ministry of Culture's Theatre Affairs Centre.This workshop is part of the centre's initiatives aimed at supporting local theatrical talent and honing the skills of young writers. It is expected to combine theoretical and practical aspects, enabling participants to learn the fundamentals of creative writing, the components of a theatrical text, plot development techniques, and character development.The workshop also forms part of the centre's strategy to develop the theatrical movement in Qatar by empowering creative individuals in all aspects of theatrical work, particularly in writing, which is the cornerstone of the creative process.During the workshop, Dr Manjoud will address several key topics, including the concept of dramatic action, conflict construction, and theatrical dialogue. He will also provide an analytical reading of a number of international and Arab texts, encouraging participants to prepare short scripts that will be presented and discussed at the end of the workshop before a specialised committee.

Arab security conference begins in Doha

Under the auspices of HE the Minister of Interior, Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Police Academy Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the 14th Conference of Heads of Arab Security Training and Rehabilitation Institutions kicked off in Doha Wednesday. Hosted by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Police Academy, the two-day conference is drawing broad participation from representatives of the ministries of interior in the Arab countries, alongside representatives of relevant regional and global organisations and institutions. These organisations are UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South‑West Asia and the Arab Region, Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRI), International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ), Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), Arab Interior Ministers’ Council-General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers. The opening ceremony was attended by HE Legal Adviser to HE the Minister of Interior and General Supervisor of the Police Academy Major General Dr Abdullah Yousef al-Mal, Secretary-General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council Dr Mohammad Ali Kuman, and President of the Police Academy and Chairman of the conference Brig. Gen. Abdul Rahman Majid al-Sulaiti. Addressing the conference, Dr al-Mal said the Police Academy is proud of hosting this event with the participation of a distinguished group of leaders and experts from across the Arab world, alongside partners from specialized international organiSations, convened to exchange expertise and bolster collaboration in training and capacity-building, a fundamental pillar of security and stability. The contemporary security challenges have become more intricate and interlinked, making persistent outstanding training indispensable for capacity-building and helping security personnel keep up with developments and confront risks by proactively leveraging state-of-the-art techniques, Dr al-Mal said. Under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar has given foremost priority to the advancement of education and security training systems, in its belief that enduring security begins from the highly qualified human, he underlined. For his part, Ali Kuman affirmed that the conference convenes in Doha Thursday as part of the tremendous interest Qatar gives to the rehabilitation of Arab security apparatuses to be further capable of fully discharging their duties. He heaped praise on the initiative proffered by the Ministry of Interior in Qatar to allocate two annual scholarships at the Police Academy in the name of the late Arab security luminary HRH Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for students from member states. This move is a gesture that embodies fidelity to the legacy of the architect of Arab security cooperation and reflects an unflagging commitment to providing member states with access to the academy’s elevated level of training and professional excellence, Ali Kuman underlined. Ali Kuman further added that hosting this conference by the academy, along with the field visit to its premises, would be an invaluable opportunity to have a glimpse of this premium level, as long as the academy abounds with outstanding scientific programs. The constructive discussions of the agenda would yield consequential outcomes that strengthen Arab cooperation in the areas of security training and rehabilitation, in support of building the capabilities of Arab security apparatuses to deal with a variety of criminal threats, he highlighted. On the first day, the conference explored a flurry of critical subjects on the agenda, including advancing the technological skills of police and security personnel to combat cybercrimes, a benchmark model plan for preventive security training and qualification, alongside a benchmark model plan for security training and qualification in crisis and emergency management. The Police Academy presented a primer on the Virtual Security Operations Center (vSOC), in implementation of the recommendation issued by the Board of Trustees of the Prince Nayef Arab Security Award to present the award-winning pioneering security programs at the relevant meetings convened under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers. The Police Academy's vSOC in Qatar was awarded first place in the category of pioneering security programs for 2024. The vSOC performs a critical role in conducting virtual security exercises based on advanced simulation systems that mimic realistic and complex security scenarios. It also innovates unconventional remediation solutions, in addition to developing the mechanisms of operationalizing the joint operations chambers among different stakeholders to foster security integration and elevates the readiness of the national response system.

National Committee for International Humanitarian Law and ICRC review ways to enhance cooperation

The National Committee for International Humanitarian Law at the Ministry of Justice and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reviewed ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination in the field of military training and the implementation of programs directed toward the armed forces. This came during a meeting that brought together the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law and a delegation from the ICRC, led by the Head of the ICRC delegation in Qatar, Basma Tabaja, along with Representative of the Armed Forces to the ICRC, Ahmed Moharram, and the Legal Advisor at the ICRC Mission in Damascus Bassel Almajd Representing the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law were members of the Committee and representatives of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Abdullah Ibrahim Al Fadala, Rapporteur of the Committee Khalid Mohammed Al Khamis Al Obaidli, and Assistant Rapporteur Alaa Ismail Al Musleh. The meeting comes as part of the Committee's ongoing commitment to promoting the principles of international humanitarian law and building national capacities in the military field, in a way that contributes to strengthening respect for humanitarian rules during armed conflicts.

QU YSC concludes summer research training programme

Qatar University (QU)’s Young Scientists Centre (YSC) has concluded the seventh edition of its 2025 Summer Research Training Programme, which served as an exceptional platform for students to pursue academic and research excellence.The closing ceremony featured a research poster exhibition showcasing the innovative projects and creative achievements developed by participating students.This year’s programme provided the students opportunities to enhance research skills and engage in innovative projects across several vital fields, including energy and environment, health and biomedical sciences, information and communication technology, and social and human sciences.“Over the years, the programme has proven its effectiveness in empowering students to develop their research capabilities and progress from inquiry to scientific discovery,” said associate vice-president (Research and Graduate Studies) Dr Mohamed Alsafran.He noted that this year saw outstanding participation, with 245 students taking part in 34 research projects across various disciplines.Dr Alsafran emphasised that the programme’s success reflects the productive collaboration among the university’s research centres and colleges, which have actively contributed to strengthening the QU’s multidisciplinary research platform, supporting excellence and innovation, and reinforcing the university’s commitment to building national capacity and achieving sustainable development.Dr Zubair Ahmad, the head of Module Development and Publication at the YSC, highlighted that the Summer Research Training Programme serves as a cornerstone in fostering research capabilities among youth.He described it as a strategic platform that transforms students into researchers and innovators capable of addressing contemporary challenges.Dr Ahmad added that the programme provides students with a unique opportunity to engage in real scientific research designed to enhance their technical and research skills through collaborative work with experts and mentors.He further said that the programme focuses on capacity building, enabling students to acquire the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to contribute effectively to the knowledge-based economy envisioned in Qatar National Vision 2030.Among the winning projects were:* “The Effect of Catalyst Support Acidity and Basicity on CO₂ Conversion in the RWGS Reaction” in the Energy and Environment category, supervised by Dr Anand Kumar and Dr Parisa Ebrahimi from the College of Engineering.* “Years of Change: How University Life Shapes Students’ Dietary Habits and Physical Activity” in the Health and Biomedical Sciences category, led by Dr Rima Tayyem from the College of Health Sciences.* “A Smart Warning System for Distracted Motorcycle Riders Using Machine Learning Techniques” in the Information Technology category, supervised by Dr Qainat Hussain from the College of Engineering.* “Digital Transformation and AI Integration: Exploring Perceived Educational Benefits in Non-STEM Education” in the Social and Human Sciences category, supervised by Dr Julie Bhadra and Somaya Muneer from the YSC.These achievements reflected not only the quality of academic supervision but also the students’ ability to translate knowledge into pioneering research outcomes with tangible societal impact.The Summer Research Training Programme is one of the QU’s strategic initiatives, reflecting its commitment to developing students’ scientific capabilities and empowering them to become future research leaders capable of innovation and contributing to societal advancement.

Ministry of Labour advances national efforts against human trafficking

The Ministry of Labour, in partnership with the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT), conducted a three-day intensive training program to strengthen national capacity in identifying and addressing human trafficking in line with international and national standards.The program brought together NCCHT staff supporting hotline operations, personnel from humanitarian care homes, and labour inspectors, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required for early detection of trafficking cases and effective intervention. The initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to secure a dignified life for all residents and foster a thriving, knowledge-based society.As part of Qatar's National Human Trafficking Action Plan 2024-2026, the training underscores ongoing efforts to harmonise and coordinate national measures across government bodies and civil society. It reaffirms the nation's commitment to human rights, Islamic law, the Constitution, and legislation that protects human dignity and prohibits all forms of exploitation.Participants engaged in specialized modules covering legal frameworks, trafficking indicators, national referral mechanisms, and the operational roles of specialised units and labour inspectors in enforcing the law and supporting victims. The training also emphasised a human-rights-centred approach, promoting protection, prevention, and rehabilitation.Human trafficking remains one of the most egregious violations of contemporary human rights, with profound impacts on individual dignity and fundamental freedoms.
