The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Abu Al Duhur air base in Idlib, the Syrian Arab Republic, considering it a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a clear violation of the provisions of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Israel's continued violation of the sovereignty of the countries of the region without deterrence reveals a dangerous approach to imposing a fait accompli by force and a systematic disregard for international legitimacy. The ministry underscored that if Israel seeks to impose a new reality in its surroundings, then the international community, in turn, must deal firmly with the fact that the Israeli occupation is acting as if it is above the law, in light of international silence and inability to deter it, and must bear its responsibilities in putting an end to its violations.The ministry warned that the absence of accountability and deterrence encourages Israel to persist in its violations, threatens security and stability, and drags the region into a wider spiral of escalation.The ministry reiterated the State of Qatar's firm stance of standing by the fraternal Syrian Arab Republic, affirming its solidarity with the Syrian government and its support for everything that would preserve Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

Syria condemned the Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Abu Al Duhur Military Airbase in the Governorate of Idlib.In its statement on Tuesday, Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the strikes as an unjustified act of aggression, a violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, in addition to being a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.Israel's continuous attacks since December 8, 2024, despite Syria's exercise of restraint and its work to consolidate stability and avoid escalation, the Ministry said, reveal the attempts to undermine these efforts and push the region toward further tension and instability.The Syrian foreign ministry held the Israeli entity responsible for the escalation and called on the international community and the United Nations Security Council to clearly condemn the aggression and to take a firm stance against the repeated violations.Syria will continue to defend its national rights and interests through legitimate means guaranteed by international laws and norms, affirmed the statement. 

Iraq and Syria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to rehabilitate a cross-border oil pipeline project.Iraqi New Agency said US energy corporation Chevron would carry out the project that links between Iraq's Haditha and Syria's Baniyas.It added that Baghdad would seal 50 agreements and MoUs with US partners, with a combined value of $60 billion.Meanwhile, Washington welcomed the move, describing the project as essential to strengthening regional security and stability.Separately, Chevron announced it had signed a framework agreement with the governments of Iraq and Syria to carry out the project.It also announced deals with Iraq to advance commercial talks to develop the West Qurna 2 and Nassiriya oilfields.

The State of Qatar welcomed the United States' announcement that it has begun the process of removing the Syrian Arab Republic from its list of state sponsors of terrorism. In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the move marks a positive step toward supporting stability in Syria and the wider region, while advancing a political settlement in line with relevant international resolutions and the aspirations of the Syrian people. The Ministry reaffirmed Qatar's unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and independence of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as its continued solidarity with the Syrian people in their pursuit of security, stability, and prosperity. 

Syria condemned the attack targeting two tankers belonging to Qatar and Saudi Arabia while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as an unacceptable act and a violation of international law and freedom of maritime navigation.In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Syria's full solidarity with Qatar and Saudi Arabia, calling on the international community to take serious action to protect international waterways and safeguard regional security and stability. 

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has condemned Israeli military incursions into Syrian territory and the shelling of the southern governorates of Quneitra and Daraa, describing the actions as a violation of Syria's sovereignty and international law.In a statement issued on Monday, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said the Israeli operations constituted a "dangerous escalation" that risked increasing regional tensions and instability.He said the continued military actions undermined regional and international efforts to achieve peace and called for respect for Syria's sovereignty, as well as compliance with international law and international humanitarian law.Albudaiwi also reaffirmed the GCC's support for Syria's security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.The six-member bloc reiterated its rejection of any actions that violate Syria's sovereignty or threaten its security.

The Syrian General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs confirmed that the number of Syrians who have voluntarily returned to the country through border crossings exceeded 1.26 million citizens, while measures and facilities for receiving them continue. Director of Public Relations at the Authority Mazen Alloush said, in remarks to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the total number of returnees through border crossings between December 2024 and the end of May 2025 reached 1,268,347 citizens. Of these, 736,902 arrived from Turkiye, 367,444 from Lebanon, 137,239 from Jordan, and an additional 23,606 from Iraq. He added that during the first five months of 2026, 273,412 citizens returned to Syria, reflecting the continued trend of voluntary return. Among them, 149,185 returned from Lebanon, 105,767 from Turkiye, 13,599 from Jordan, and 1,705 from IraqAlloush emphasized that the General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs continues to provide a comprehensive package of facilities for returnees, including simplifying procedures, speeding up the processing of transactions, providing flexible travel lanes at border crossings, and exempting personal, household, and domestic belongings from fees in accordance with applicable laws and regulations He noted that these measures help reduce burdens on returning families and facilitate their resettlement inside the country. He also explained that the Authority is continuously working to improve services for travelers and enhance operational efficiency at various border crossings. The Director of Public Relations further stated that the ongoing increase in the number of returnees reflects growing confidence in the procedures and services provided at border crossings, as well as the success of efforts to ensure safe, comfortable, and efficient passage for citizens wishing to return home. He added that the continued flow of large numbers of returning Syrians also indicates a growing desire among citizens to return to their country and settle there.

His Excellency Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani conferred on Thursday with Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management of the Syrian Arab Republic Raed Al Saleh on the sidelines of the conclusion of the Joint Trilateral Exercise in Urban Search and Rescue.During the meeting, they discussed the close fraternal relations and existing partnership between the two brotherly countries, along with ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in the fields of emergency and disaster management, capacity building, and training, in a way that supports efforts to develop response and preparedness systems, enhances the utilization of the State of Qatar's advanced expertise in this field, serves the common interests of both countries, and meets the aspirations of their leaderships.

HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid al-Khater met yesterday with Syria’s Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Saleh. They discussed aspects of co-operation in the educational and cultural fields, along with ways to support and enhance them, and issues of common interest. 

Trade between the United Arab Emirates and Syria more than doubled in 2025 and has further to grow, a UAE minister said yesterday, addressing ‌a Damascus investment forum that signalled rapidly warming ties between ​the states. UAE Minister of State ‌for Foreign Trade Thani Al Zeyoudi told the first ‌Syrian-Emirati Investment Forum that non-oil trade ‌between the United Arab Emirates ‌and Syria reached a record $1.4 bn in 2025, up 132% from the previous year. He said the increase opens prospects for expanding bilateral trade. The Syrian and Emirati sides reached a series of preliminary agreements on dozens of investment projects in the tourism, construction, infrastructure, agriculture, aviation and logistics sectors during the two-day event. The UAE has moved ​more slowly than Saudi Arabia and Qatar in expanding ties with the new Syrian government led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former Al Qaeda commander.But ‌a gradual improvement in ties has accelerated ​since the start of the Iran war, as the UAE ​came under Iranian attack and Sharaa repeatedly expressed solidarity with Abu Dhabi. Anwar Gargash, top diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, said in April Syria was among the most prominent Arab countries that “held a positive stance towards the UAE”.The investment forum was held at the Presidential Palace in Damascus and attended by Sharaa, ministers and senior officials from both countries. Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emirati real estate development giant Emaar, said the company was studying ‌projects in Damascus worth up to $12 ‌billion, and projects on Syria’s coast worth up to $7 bn. Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Nidal Shaar said the two sides had agreed to form a Syrian technical delegation to visit the UAE in the coming period to develop a comprehensive plan and implementation roadmap for the recent agreements. Syria has been seeking to attract foreign investment to support an economy devastated by more than a decade of war and Western sanctions, most of which were lifted at the end of last year. Over the past year, Damascus has signed several billion-dollar memoranda of understanding with Gulf investors, including companies from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, while also securing deals ‌with US companies. 

QatarEnergy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TotalEnergies, ConocoPhillips, and the Syrian Petroleum Company for co-operation in oil and gas exploration offshore Syria.The agreement covers technical review by the partners to evaluate the potential of Block 3, offshore Syria, and sets the framework for further technical and commercial discussions.His Excellency Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the president and chief executive officer of QatarEnergy, witnessed the signing, which took place at QatarEnergy’s headquarters with the attendance of a number of senior executives from QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies, ConocoPhillips, and the Syrian Petroleum Company.“This agreement reflects QatarEnergy’s continued international growth strategy and its efforts to explore upstream oil and gas business development opportunities in the region and globally,” according to al-Kaabi.Block 3 lies in the Levantine Basin in the eastern Mediterranean waters offshore the Syrian city of Latakia with water depths ranging from 100m to 1,700m.“We are pleased to partner with the Syrian Petroleum Company to explore potential opportunities that can support growth and prosperity for the people of Syria. We look forward to working closely with our international partners, TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips, as well as other relevant stakeholders to assess this opportunity,” al-Kaabi said.
