The Qatar Foundation for Social Work, in co-operation with the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, organised a roundtable discussion on the United Nations human rights system at the UN House in Lusail City. The event was attended by the foundation’s leadership and executive directors of its affiliated centers, as well as representatives from several UN agencies operating in Qatar. This roundtable discussion is part of the ongoing partnership between the foundation and the centre, aimed at enhancing the practical knowledge of the leadership at the affiliated centers and enabling them to engage with the United Nations human rights system and its mechanisms. In this context, the CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work Rashid al-Naimi stressed that this initiative represents a significant milestone in the development of institutional social work, pointing out that engaging with the United Nations human rights system is no longer a supplementary option, but rather a natural extension of their developmental role and national responsibility. He added that they are working to build a conscious and capable institutional framework that translates international commitments into tangible practices that have a real impact on the lives of beneficiaries. Through these strategic partnerships, they seek to establish a leading Qatari model for social work, based on knowledge and strengthening the international presence of the Foundation and its centers as active partners in developing solutions to contemporary social challenges, he explained. He noted that the foundation focuses on empowering its affiliated centres to contribute effectively to national reports and international monitoring mechanisms, reflecting the reality of social work in Qatar and enhancing the integration of national efforts with international frameworks. In the same vein, Director of UN Training and Documentation Center for Southwest Asia and the Arab Region Dr Abeer al-Khraisha emphasized the importance of organising this workshop to strengthen the ongoing co-operation between the centre and the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, which began several years ago to enhance the capacities and competencies of the foundation’s affiliated centers, thereby strengthening the interaction of its staff, leaders, and affiliated centers with the United Nations human rights system and the core international treaty bodies relevant to their work. This, in turn, supports Qatar’s efforts to implement its international human rights obligations. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Technical Representative in Doha Biplove Choudhary affirmed that the programme values ​​this dialogue with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work as an important step towards strengthening the co-ordination of efforts within the United Nations system and supporting institutional capacities to contribute to achieving sustainable development priorities. The roundtable included a comprehensive review of the general framework of the United Nations human rights system, including the mandate of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the role of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It also highlighted the foundation’s consultative status with the council and the opportunities it offers to enhance its international presence, as well as its contribution to social development and human rights issues. The sessions also covered the core international human rights conventions relevant to the work of social centers, with a focus on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. They also reviewed mechanisms for preparing national and shadow reports, and ways to engage with treaty bodies. In the same context, the roles of several UN agencies in Qatar were reviewed, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The roundtable emphasized the importance of strengthening co-ordination and co-operation between the Foundation and its international partners, which supports Qatar’s efforts to fulfill its international commitments and reinforces an integrated approach to social work based on knowledge and effective partnerships.

The Behavioural Healthcare Center (Daam), one of the centres affiliated with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, announced Wednesday the launch of its new visual identity in a step that reflects a new stage in the centre’s journey towards institutional development and excellence and confirms its continued commitment to promoting behavioural and psychological health, and consolidating its role in supporting individuals, families and society. The launch event for the new visual identity was attended by CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work Rashid al-Nuaimi, Executive Director of Daam Jawaher Abu Alfain, and a number of executive directors of centres affiliated with the foundation. Marking the occasion, Executive Director of Daam Jawaher Abu Alfain said that the launch of the new visual identity represents a pivotal milestone in the journey of Daam, and embodies the maturity of the institutional experience after more than eleven years of specialised work in the field of mental and behavioural health. For her part, supervisor of the visual identity project Andalus Ibrahim indicated that the design of the new logo comes to combine modernity and authenticity, and to highlight the human connection between Daam and the target groups. She noted that the choice of the hand symbol reflects, from the first glance, the concepts of care, support, assistance, rebalancing and recovery, which are the essence of the centre’s specialisation and its work mission. Within the framework of the 2026 annual plan, Daam has developed many projects, programmes and activities targeting all segments of society with the aim of raising behavioural awareness and consolidating national identity and community values.

 and in disseminating its messages, with MSDF playing a pivotal role in launching this Award and exercising full oversight, considering it a national initiative aligned with its mandate and role in advancing the social work ecosystem and fostering community engagement in Qatar.The overall framework of the award oversees its vision, policies, and standards, ensuring alignment with national strategies and the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in the areas of human and social development, and fostering the principle of the transition from care to empowerment.It also supervises the governance of the award and its organisational structure, through the chairmanship of the Board of Trustees, the approval of the executive team and sub-teams- scientific, selection and admission, media, administrative, and financial- as well as the monitoring of evaluation and verification mechanisms, ensuring the highest levels of transparency, integrity, and fairness in selecting the winners.The ministry's role further includes strengthening strategic partnerships with government entities, the private sector, civil society institutions, and media outlets, contributing to the expansion of the award's impact, promoting a culture of excellence and social responsibility, and encouraging social initiatives with sustainable impact.The award forms part of the MSDF-led national initiatives system, affirming its commitment to supporting institutional social work, recognising humanitarian efforts, and empowering individuals and institutions to contribute effectively to community development and cohesion.The event concluded by affirming that the Award will contribute to building a national system that strengthens the culture of excellence in social work and highlights Qatar's leading role in sustainable development and enhancing social solidarity.  

Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (Aman), member of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, concluded a series of awareness workshops held at Qur'an memorisation centres for women and girls, in co-operation with the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs.In this context, Acting Executive Director of Aman Centre, Fadl al-Kaabi emphasised that the main objective of these workshops, in co-operation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Qur'an memorisation centres, is to enhance women's sense of security and highlight their role in the stability of the family and society. The workshops also aimed to equip participants with new skills and mechanisms for dealing with challenges and problems they may face, and to familiarise them with the centre's role and the key services it provides to protect them.Al-Kaabi noted that the awareness workshops targeted women and girls, focusing on raising awareness and educating the community about social protection issues, thus contributing to building strong and cohesive families. He explained that the number of beneficiaries of these workshops exceeded 900.He pointed out that these efforts come in fulfilment of the vision and mission of Aman Centre to provide social protection, strengthen family cohesion, and reduce violence in all its forms.For her part, Director of the Community Awareness Department at Aman Centre, Bakhita al-Ghayathin explained that the implementation of the "Aman" awareness workshops aimed to highlight several topics related to social protection, family safety, and protection from cyber extortion, in addition to raising awareness about bullying and its psychological effects.In contrast, Director of the Communication and Media Office at Aman Centre, Hanan al-Ali emphasised the importance of expanding co-operation with the largest possible number of partners in the country to serve the targeted groups of women, children, and victims of family breakdown and violence, stressing that awareness represents the first line of defense in achieving safety.Al-Ali added that activating community partnership with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs contributes to raising community awareness and strengthening family cohesion, thus creating a safe and stable environment.  

The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman), part of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, wrapped up the Light Exhibition held in partnership with Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar.The month-long exhibition showcased Aman’s awareness workshops, engaging students from kindergartens and both public and private schools.In this context, Aman Center’s Acting Executive Director Fadel Mohammed al-Kaabi said the Light Exhibition aimed to foster public awareness and education on social protection, while strengthening child safety measures and nurturing children’s creative and innovative abilities.He emphasised that the exhibition provided an educational environment and a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills using new tools such as light and shadow.Al-Kaabi further noted that more than 20 schools were invited, targeting over 300 students from primary levels in both public and private schools, in addition to students from the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, children from Dreama Center for Orphan Care, and children benefiting from Aman Center’s internal care services.He explained that the exhibition received positive feedback from educational staff, including social workers and teachers accompanying the students, particularly in how Aman’s awareness workshops were integrated with the exhibition tools. He affirmed that these tools help unleash children’s potential in discovering their identities and creative abilities.For her part, Head of the Communication and Information Office at Aman Center Hanan al-Ali stressed the centre’s commitment to activating community partnerships with various entities and sectors across the country, noting that child protection is a shared responsibility.She added that the collaboration with Dadu Museum marks the beginning of a series of awareness events aimed at children, highlighting the museum’s dedication to delivering information and education through play.

Qatar Foundation for Social Work signed a co-operation agreement with the Akhlaquna initiative of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF). Launched by Chairperson of the Board of Directors of QF, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the initiative represents a model for strengthening the relationship between science and ethics. The agreement aims to enhance co-operation between the Qatar Foundation for Social Work and the Akhlaquna initiative in implementing joint awareness and media campaigns and disseminating positive values ​​​​in society. This is part of the ‘Thank You 2025-2026’ campaign, which kicks off this year under the theme of gratitude and appreciation. It also seeks to activate community and media partnerships to serve the public interest and highlight the developmental role of the Foundation and its affiliated centres in promoting values ​​​​and ethics in Qatari society through participation in events and activities and the production of joint awareness content. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work by Director of the Communication Department at the Foundation, Noor Saleh al-Mohannadi, and on behalf of the Akhlaquna initiative by Project Manager at QF’s Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation, Sheikha al-Zeyara, at the headquarters of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work. On this occasion, al-Mohannadi emphasised that this co-operation falls within the framework of the foundation’s vision to enhance joint work with national entities aimed at serving the community and instilling positive values ​​among its members. She explained that the co-operation with the Akhlaquna initiative represents a distinctive model of integration between national institutions in spreading ethical awareness and promoting positive behaviours. She noted that this step falls within the Qatar Foundation for Social Work’s approach to supporting national initiatives that contribute to strengthening community cohesion and support its mission to empower the beneficiaries of its centres. For her part, Sheikha al-Zeyara appreciated the constructive co-operation with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, noting that it represents an extension of the positive relations between the two parties in the areas of community awareness. She also stressed that this co-operation complements the positive results achieved over the past years between the foundation, its centres, and the Akhlaquna initiative.
