Qatar Charity (QC) held a foundation-stone ceremony to launch the Gaziantep Social Center project in the presence of M Faisal bin Abdullah al-Hanzab, ambassador of Qatar to Turkiye; Kemal Çeber, governor of Gaziantep; and Nawaf al-Hammadi, executive vice-president for programmes and communication at Qatar Charity.Held in in partnership with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Turkiye, the project aims to establish an integrated centre serving orphans and their mothers, providing a safe, stable residential and social environment and improving beneficiaries’ quality of life.It includes residential units of varying sizes to accommodate 45 families, fully equipped with essential facilities, along with service and recreational amenities such as a dining hall, spaces for social activities, play grounds and children’s areas, outdoor green spaces, and parking.The project spans approximately 9,975sq m, with a built-up area of 3,375sq m. Completion is expected within one year, at an estimated cost of around QR10mn.Ambassador al-Hanzab said: “The foundation-stone ceremony for the Gaziantep Social Center reflects the depth of the strong fraternal ties between Qatar and Turkiye. Qatar remains committed to supporting development and humanitarian projects that meet the needs of the most vulnerable groups especially orphans — ensuring them a dignified life and a safe future in a stable environment.”Governor Çeber praised the close co-operation with Qatar Charity and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of Turkiye, noting that the social centre will be a significant addition to the province’s humanitarian services.Al-Hammadi said the new social centre aims to create a lasting impact for 45 families of orphans by providing a comprehensive residential and social environment that goes beyond traditional shelter. He added that the project covering nearly 10,000sq m was designed as a vibrant community with service and recreational facilities and green spaces, helping promote beneficiaries’ psychological and social stability. 

Qatar Charity’s team in Sudan has completed the distribution of food baskets to 15,708 beneficiaries, with generous support from philanthropists in Qatar. The beneficiaries included the families of sponsored orphans, as well as vulnerable and displaced families in four Sudanese states. **media[433192]**The project targeted sponsored orphan households and vulnerable families in Port Sudan, Red Sea State; the cities of Kassala and Khashm Al Girba in Kassala State; the Al Qolid area in Northern State; as well as Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah City in River Nile State. Fatima Ibrahim, deputy commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Kassala State, praised Qatar Charity’s implementation of this project during her participation in the launch of the food-basket distribution.  Atiyat Abdullah, secretary of the Orphans Welfare Council in Kassala State, also commended Qatar Charity’s special attention to orphans and the association’s efforts in distributing the food baskets. Several mothers of orphans in Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah City “Rofaqa,” a model experience for the care of orphans and their families in Sudan, expressed their appreciation for the generosity of philanthropists in Qatar in providing food baskets that include the essential items needed by every Sudanese family.  One sponsored orphan’s mother said: “I extend my thanks to the kind people in Qatar who provided us with food supplies that reached us at a time when we were in dire need.” Sponsored orphan Hajar al-Hilali added that distributing the baskets in eases families’ burdens and brings joy to them and to the sponsored orphans in the city.  Several mothers of sponsored orphans in the Northern State, upon receiving the food baskets in the Al Qolid area, noted that the baskets are of great importance considering the difficult economic conditions, which make obtaining food staples difficult and out of reach for many vulnerable families.  Qatar Charity’s team also distributed food baskets to one of the largest Qur'an memorisation centres in Northern State, as part of its commitment to reinforcing the values of generosity and social solidarity, alleviating the burdens of those most in need, and bringing relief to them.

Qatar Charity raised QAR 40 million during its '27th Night Challenge' campaign to implement life-saving medical initiatives in several countries as well as in the State of Qatar.The campaign's donations exceeded the target within just three hours in a fundraising event on YouTube Live that coincided with the 27th night of Ramadan.The "27th Night Challenge" was held this year under the theme "Warding off Calamity", with media participation from influencer Abdullah Al Ghafri and Dr. Abdulrahman Al Harami, who drove community engagement and mobilized donations during the event. They were joined by several influencers, doctors, digital platforms, and supporting medical centers.This year, the ‘27th Night Challenge’ placed special emphasis on the health sector in response to the rising number of critical cases requiring urgent treatment in countries with high need. The health initiatives to be supported include open-heart surgeries and the correction of congenital heart defects in children, along with the treatment of eye diseases and surgeries that restore sight. They also cover cochlear implants for children with hearing loss, helping them hear and communicate, as well as the treatment of severe malnutrition in children. In addition, medical interventions will be carried out within Qatar to support patients with chronic illnesses and critical health conditions. Together, these efforts aim to save lives and create new stories of recovery.Overall, the "27th Night Challenge" aims to carry out approximately 6,770 surgeries, in addition to providing malnutrition treatment and supporting cancer patients within Qatar-impacting thousands of people and their families.

Despite exceptional challenges, Qatar Charity (QC) laid the foundation stone for the “Ahl Qatar Village” project in Damerjog, on the outskirts of Djibouti City, under the patronage of Amina Abdi Aden, Minister of the City, Urban Planning and Housing, Djibouti.The project includes the construction of 80 housing units for targeted families, the expansion of three classrooms at a local primary school, and the establishment of a mosque and a Qur’an memorisation centre.The project is expected to benefit approximately 3,500 residents of Damerjog. It reflects Qatar Charity’s commitment to sustainable development and improving the living conditions of vulnerable communities, with social housing as a key pillar of long term stability.The foundation‑laying ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Mohammed al‑Derham, chargé d’affaires of the embassy of Qatar in Djibouti; Ghada Ezzeldin Ahmed, country director of Qatar Charity’s Djibouti branch; and Hassan Dabaleh Ahmed, Prefect (governor) of the Arta region. Also present were Abdourahman Ali Ahmed, director general of the Urban Rehabilitation and Social Housing Agency; and Abdelkarim Mahmoud Hassan, secretary‑general of the Ministry of the City, Urban Planning and Housing.The project aims to provide a safe and dignified living environment that strengthens social and economic stability for the most vulnerable Djiboutian families, reflecting Qatar Charity’s conviction that decent housing is essential to building cohesive and productive communities.Abdi Aden underscored the importance of social housing projects as a key pillar of social and economic development, noting their role in ensuring stability and dignified living conditions for low‑income families, expressing her appreciation to the State of Qatar for its continued support of development initiatives in Djibouti.For her part, Ahmed said the project will have a direct impact on beneficiaries by moving families from precarious housing to safe homes that strengthen family and social stability. She noted that the mosque and Qur’an centre will help promote educational and ethical values while supporting local development, adding that the project reflects Qatar Charity’s partnership‑based approach and close cooperation with the Ministry of the City, Urban Planning and Housing to ensure alignment with national plans and long‑term sustainability.

Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and Qatar Charity celebrated the official opening of the Fourth Assalam School, marking another milestone under the “Together” Project. The Fourth Assalam School joins the growing network of Assalam Schools, established to support at-risk learners and children facing barriers that prevent them from accessing or continuing quality education. Although the school officially began operations in January 2025, the ceremony was held to commemorate the tangible results achieved and the positive transformation evident in students’ lives. The school serves primary-level students aged seven to 12 and operates a dual-shift, dual-curriculum model designed to maximise reach and respond to diverse learning needs. The morning shift delivers the Qatari National Curriculum for Arabic-speaking students, while the afternoon shift follows the British curriculum for Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and Qatar Charity celebrated the official opening of the Fourth Assalam School, marking another milestone under the “Together” Project. The Fourth Assalam School joins the growing network of Assalam Schools, established to support at-risk learners and children facing barriers that prevent them from accessing or continuing quality education. Although the school officially began operations in January 2025, the ceremony was held to commemorate the tangible results achieved and the positive transformation evident in students’ lives. To date, 587 students are enrolled, 276 in the morning shift and 311 in the afternoon shift, demonstrating partners’ shared commitment to expanding inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education in line with national priorities. Mohamed al-Kubaisi, CEO, EAA Foundation, emphasised that inclusive, flexible education models can close learning gaps and restore opportunities for vulnerable children. “When education reaches children where they are, lives are transformed. At the Fourth Assalam School, we are witnessing confidence restored, potential unlocked, and families re-engaged in the learning journey. This is the power of partnership and purpose, transforming access into opportunity and classrooms into places of hope.” Yousef bin Ahmed AlKuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, reaffirmed the partnership’s evolution from humanitarian response to sustainable human development. “The opening of the Fourth Assalam School reflects our firm belief that education is a fundamental right for every child and the most sustainable path to empowerment. Through our long-standing partnership with Education Above All Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, we are committed to ensuring that children who have faced hardship, displacement, or economic barriers are given a real second chance to learn, grow, and build a dignified future.” Guests later participated in an interactive tour, “Real learning from the classroom to the podium”, showcasing student-led STEM experiments, exhibitions, debates, flexible learning pathways, and an agriculture project. The Assalam Schools were established in response to the increasing number of vulnerable children in Qatar, particularly those facing significant barriers to formal school enrolment. Key challenges include reaching children who are not officially registered in the education system and those who encounter obstacles to school entry. These barriers include exceeding the official age for grade enrolment, lacking required identification documents, and facing economic hardships. Since its inception, the schools have served more than 21,750 students of diverse nationalities. In addition to academic education, the Assalam Schools provide students with health and psychological support, as well as non-traditional learning programmes designed to enhance learning outcomes and bridge existing educational gaps. 

Reaffirming its commitment to supporting communities most in need worldwide, Qatar Charity (QC) delivered a package of specialised humanitarian assistance to Burkina Faso, aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and strengthening community resilience.The aid was received by Lieutenant Colonel Passowendé Pélagie Kaboré, Minister of Family and National Solidarity, from Mohammed Ali Ahmed Adam Mohamed, country director of Qatar Charity’s Burkina Faso Branch.The assistance includes a broad range of equipment intended to improve living conditions and empower vulnerable families. It comprises 212 blood pressure monitors, 2,900 individual water filters, and 300 family water filters to support access to safe drinking water. The shipment also includes 200 family tents and 900 solar-powered lamps to address basic shelter and lighting needs in areas facing limited electricity supply.Support for persons with disabilities was provided through 600 manual wheelchairs and 100 electric wheelchairs, along with 200 sewing machines and tables to help beneficiaries start small income-generating activities. In addition, the aid package features 900 essential household kits, 130 cargo tricycles, 130 passenger tuk tuks, 50 diesel mills, and 1,000 tables and chairs.On behalf of Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Republic of Burkina Faso, and the government, Minister Passowendé Pélagie Kaboré expressed her deep appreciation to Qatar Charity for this initiative, describing it as a gesture of major social significance. She emphasised that the support reflects active solidarity founded on trust, partnership, and long-term commitment to vulnerable populations.The Minister confirmed that the equipment would be used responsibly and strategically, in line with national priorities, particularly economic empowerment, social protection, and the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities.Mohammed Ali Ahmed Adam Mohamed reaffirmed Qatar Charity’s commitment to supporting government-led humanitarian and development efforts, highlighting the organisation’s alignment with the national strategy for assisting IDPs and host communities.Beneficiary Mano Bashira described the assistance as “life saving,” noting that it restores dignity, renews hope, and enables families to build sustainable livelihoods. 

With the support of benevolent donors in Qatar, Qatar Charity provided more than 113mn litres of safe drinking water to thousands of displaced and drought-affected families on the outskirts of the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and in the camps of Baidoa.This comes as part of its strategy aimed at responding to natural disasters, alleviating the suffering of vulnerable groups, and providing urgent and sustainable water solutions.For the residents of displacement camps on the outskirts of Mogadishu, Qatar Charity secured 74.5mn litres of water, meeting the needs of 2,300 affected families over 12 months (throughout 2026). This initiative is an extension of previous achievements that began in 2023, creating a state of water stability in the targeted areas.In Baidoa, in the Southwest State of Somalia one of the areas most affected by displacement movements Qatar Charity left a significant humanitarian mark by starting the distribution of 38,880,000 litres of water for a period of six months, from January to June 2026, to ensure that 2,400 displaced families receive their full need of clean water. This step aims to limit the spread of epidemics and reduce repeated displacement in search of resources.Tahir Mohamed Haj, programmes director at Qatar Charity’s Somalia Office, emphasised that these projects place people at the forefront of their priorities.He said: “Providing safe drinking water is our top priority in relief plans. Through this response, we seek to ensure one of the basic rights of displaced persons, which directly contributes to strengthening community resilience against the harsh climatic challenges striking the region.”This initiative brought evident satisfaction among beneficiaries. In the camps of Baidoa, Amina Ali Ibrahim and Habiba Abubakar Hassan recounted how the quest for a “sip of water” used to exhaust them and their children’s time. They affirmed that having water delivered right to their tent doors was not just aid it was an indescribable relief for their families.Near the outskirts of Mogadishu, the situation was similar. Fatima Mohamed Ibrahim and Hawa Osman Ali expressed their gratitude to the people of Qatar, noting that the quality and constant availability of water provided them with reassurance about their health after years of suffering from unsafe water sources.These projects fall within an ongoing development trajectory. Qatar Charity implemented 76 vital water and sanitation projects in Somalia last year, benefiting around 50,000 people across various regions of the country. 

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), in partnership with Qatar Charity, supplied Epiq CVx, an advanced echocardiography (ECG) machine, to the Cardiovascular Centre in Taiz, Yemen to enhance the quality of diagnostic services for patients, at a total cost of $61,146.The new machine is a high-tech ECG system for cardiac diseases, combining quality 3D imaging with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This allows for faster, more accurate assessments of cardiac function and overall enhancement in ECG applications.Dr Abu Zarr al-Gendi, the centre’s director and professor of Cardiac Surgery and Kidney Transplantation, expressed his gratitude, saying: “This has enabled us to operate with advanced technologies and perform cardiac surgeries up to the highest international standards”.According to Dr al-Gendi, the Cardiovascular Centre serves much of the country’s population as a national centre of excellence in open-heart surgery, endoscopy, and kidney transplantation.He added: “It is the only centre in Yemen that performs minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, a modern technique that allows patients to recover faster compared to traditional methods. Such major procedures are performed in specific locations and reflect the pinnacle of medical advancements, thanks to modern technology”.Dr Sidqi al-Qubati, consultant cardiologist and head of the Catheterisation Department, described the new machine as a strategic contribution to the centre’s operations, offering advanced diagnostic techniques for accurate pre and intraoperative assessment, which ensured the right medical intervention at the right time, as well as improving the quality of health care provided for the patients.Abdullah Ibrahim al-Nuaimi, head of Qatar Charity’s office in Yemen, stated: “The supply of a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for the Cardiovascular Centre in Taiz is part of Qatar Charity’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni health sector, as well as capacity-building for medical facilities with the latest diagnostic equipment and technologies.“This initiative is an outcome of collaboration with QRCS, which is a perfect example of humanitarian partnerships aimed at upgrading public health services. We hope this contribution will help make cardiac diagnoses more accurate and enable medical professionals to provide advanced health care that meets the needs of patients and aligns with modern medical standards”.Eng Ahmed Hassan al-Sharaji, head of QRCS’ representation office in Yemen, said this step was part of the ongoing efforts to improve health care services for the patients in Yemen, without having to travel abroad for treatment.He pointed out: “We are proud to be part of the centre’s success in serving the patients and improving their quality of life. I would like to thank our partners at Qatar Charity and the local authorities for their co-operation. We look forward to further work together on more projects addressed to the health sector, and patients with heart disease in particular”.The recent activity was the last step of a project to support the Cardiovascular Centre in Taiz, at a total cost of more than $1.14mn. Earlier, an Azurion 3 F15 cardiac catheterisation machine was delivered, and the cardiac catheterisation department was opened almost two years ago.
