The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is continuing to implement a package of humanitarian projects in several countries as part of a Ramadan campaign for the year 1447 AH, aimed at supporting communities affected by crises and disasters and improving their living conditions.The QRCS guide has outlined the implementation of 25 water and sanitation projects across 10 countries, benefiting approximately 3,669,846 people, at a total cost of QR39,815,845.These projects include drilling artesian wells, installing solar-powered water pumps, constructing water tanks and water stations, operating mobile tankers to distribute clean drinking water in camps and orphanages, and building sanitary latrines.The assistant secretary-general for Relief and International Development at the QRCS, Mohammed Badr al-Sada, said that providing clean water is a priority for affected communities.The QRCS also plans to implement 12 projects to support education in eight countries, benefiting 24,230 boys and girls, at a total cost of QR12,967,250.These projects include maintaining and repairing schools, constructing and equipping classrooms, providing school supplies and backpacks, and sponsoring students.As part of multi-sector projects, the plan encompasses nine projects to support orphans and the elderly in four countries, benefiting more than 56,300 people, at a cost exceeding QR21,977,500, through the provision of food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare services to the targeted groups. 

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has partnered with talabat Qatar to launch the “Hero Meals”, a Ramadan initiative that enables customers to donate meals to riders directly through the app.As part of the campaign, a number of participating restaurants will offer specially curated meal options available within the “Hero Meals” collection on the talabat app.Customers can support riders by adding a Hero Meal to their order in just a few taps.The donated meals will be distributed to riders, offering a simple and meaningful way for customers to show appreciation during the holy month of Ramadan.QRCS managing director – secretary-general Engineer Ibrahim bin Hashem al-Sada stated: “We at the QRCS give priority to partnership with the private-sector companies that cherish corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a central component of their business model.”**media[421240]**“For years now, talabat Qatar has been working closely with us to promote community service and welfare,” he said. “This initiative is just another example, which we really appreciate.”“Ramadan is a time of reflection and generosity,” talabat Qatar managing director Francisco Miguel De Sousa said. “With ‘Hero Meals’, we are happy to launch an initiative that allows our customers to directly support the riders who serve our community every day.”“Partnering with the QRCS ensures that this campaign is delivered with credibility and meaningful impact,” he added. 

As part of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS)’s Ramadan Campaign 1447 AH, themed “Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive”, the daily On-the-Go Ramadan Iftar initiative at Katara Cultural Village has been warmly received by visitors. Now in its third consecutive year and sponsored by LuLu Hypermarket, the initiative is carried out by QRCS volunteers who distribute Iftar meals at the Ramadan Cannon area and to motorists at sunset. A total of 350 meals are distributed daily, totalling 10,150 throughout the campaign. Visitors have praised the initiative for reinforcing the spiritual values of Ramadan, particularly among children and youth. Beyond Qatar, QRCS continues to extend support to vulnerable communities worldwide through Ramadan food assistance projects. In Gaza, 17,833 food parcels are being distributed to displaced families at a total cost of $1.85mn, helping strengthen their resilience and enabling them to observe the holy month with dignity. In Afghanistan, QRCS has launched Ramadan food distributions for vulnerable families in the remote and mountainous provinces of Paktika and Zabul, in partnership with the Afghan Red Crescent Society and in coordination with local authorities and community leaders. Each parcel contains 94kg of essential food items, including flour, rice, sugar, beans, vegetable oil, dates, salt, and green tea. So far, 400 parcels have been distributed in Nematabad District (Paktika) and 364 in Mezana District (Zabul). Distributions will continue in Chahar Baran and Gomal districts, with 200 parcels allocated to each, bringing the total to 1,164 parcels at a cost of QR700,000. Two QRCS teams conducted field assessments in advance to identify priority needs. In Tanzania, QRCS concluded its Ramadan Iftar project in cooperation with the Tanzania Red Cross Society, distributing food parcels to 168 families—benefiting 1,176 individuals—across five districts in the Dar es Salaam region: Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke, Ubungo, and Kigamboni. In Chad, QRCS partnered with Organisation Médicale Tchadienne and the Red Cross of Chad to distribute Ramadan parcels containing 45kg of rice, flour, sugar, and vegetable oil to 160 families, supporting 1,280 people. Preparations are also under way in Albania, where 500 Ramadan food parcels will be distributed by the Albanian Red Cross to 2,000 vulnerable individuals across several counties. In Somalia’s Northeast State, and in the presence of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, 1,951 one-month food parcels were distributed in Laascaanood, benefiting 10,806 people. Each parcel contained 66.5kg of essential items, including flour, rice, sugar, vegetable oil, infant formula, and dates. The assistance, valued at $184,931, also supported 210 patients with respiratory diseases and 690 persons with disabilities. QRCS has invited donors to contribute to its Ramadan campaign through its website, mobile app, donor service hotline, home collection service, or via bank transfer to designated accounts. 

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a winter clothes distribution project in Gaza as part of its ‘In Safe Hands’ winterisation relief campaign 2025-2026 to alleviate the suffering of thousands of displaced families amid harsh weather and humanitarian conditions inside shelter tents/centres.  Dr Akram Nassar, head of QRCS’s representation office in Gaza, said the project involved distributing coupons to 5,000 displaced families in three main distribution points: Gaza City, Central Gaza, and Khan Younis. “We selected the best clothes available in Gaza markets, to ensure that the families would be well protected against the cold weather, given the severe conditions they are living in tents and displacement centres, coupled with the lack of income for most of the families in Gaza,” stated Dr Nassar. He explained that the project was part of QRCS’s ongoing efforts to support the most vulnerable people and ease the increasing burdens on affected families, particularly children and older people. Ismail Mahmoud, 47, said: “I am so happy today for choosing warm clothes for my children. Seeing the smiles on their faces has given us some hope. Honestly, my only wish is that the economic situation would improve, and our children and the people of Gaza would find peace and stability in the future.” Worth $1.301mn, the project is part of QRCS’s humanitarian interventions to improve the living and humanitarian conditions of affected people in Gaza.  

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a specialised medical campaign for Syria, entitled 'Endless Giving', aiming to perform more than 100 specialised cardiac catheterisation procedures for adults and children in Syria.A medical convoy comprised of leading consultants and experts is participating in the campaign, which is part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the healthcare sector, provide high-quality treatment services to patients, train local medical personnel, transfer expertise, and enhance hospital preparedness.Another component of the project is capacity-building for local medical professionals, to help reduce mortality rates and complications associated with cardiology and orthopaedics, improve the quality of life for the patients requiring urgent medical interventions, and alleviate the mental and economic burdens on Syrian families, who often cannot afford such expensive procedures or have to travel abroad for treatment.During a tour of several Syrian hospitals, ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Syrian Arab Republic Khalifa bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the campaign was launched in co-operation between the State of Qatar and several healthcare institutions, including Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine. A specialised medical team is participating to perform these specialised procedures for adults and children. He noted that the team has already performed more than 60 procedures, and this number is expected to exceed the target. The campaign also includes practical and scientific training programs for Syrian medical staff.Al-Mahmoud emphasised the continuation of such initiatives, reflecting the deep fraternal cooperation between the two countries in the healthcare sector.For his part, Medical Convoys Program Co-ordinator at QRCS, Dr Izzedeen Gaafar, explained to QNA that the programme aims to perform cardiac catheterisation procedures directly for the most urgent cases, particularly complex procedures that were previously impossible to perform within Syria. This includes 50 procedures for children, as well as the diagnosis of hundreds of cases. He added that the programme also includes supporting hospitals with necessary medical equipment and supplies, in addition to training local staff, as part of a broader plan to develop the capabilities of the Syrian health sector. He noted that previous initiatives included providing medical supplies and medications to hospitals.In another statement to QNA, Director General of the National University Hospital in Damascus Dr Abdul Ghani al-Shalabi said that the Qatari initiative provided significant support to patients. The medical team performed an average of six to eight procedures daily, including diagnostic and interventional catheterisations, in addition to emergency cases of heart attacks. He emphasised that the campaign contributed to saving the lives of many patients.Al-Shalabi pointed out that all operations and medical supplies were provided free of charge, which reduced the financial burden on patients, praising the humanitarian role of the State of Qatar in supporting the health sector and enhancing the quality of medical services provided. 

The 10th Disaster Management Camp (DMC-10), organised by the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), marked Qatar National Sport Day (NSD) 2026 with a range of sports and recreational activities, following the completion of theoretical and practical training by all participating teams on the eighth day of the camp. Held in the Sealine Resort area under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed in Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, and with the support of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), DMC-10 brought together humanitarian professionals and volunteers for intensive capacity-building in disaster preparedness and response.**media[415574]**On the final training day, the Red Team underwent morning sessions on emergency planning and operations room management, while Group No. 6 received afternoon training on humanitarian information analysis. In parallel, the Humanitarian Tent hosted a lecture by humanitarian QFFD aid expert Ahmed Abdullah al-Kuwari, who briefed participants on the fund’s history, objectives, partnerships, operational mechanisms, and future plans to strengthen humanitarian and development efforts locally and globally. Following the conclusion of the training programme, participants took part in sports and recreational activities to celebrate the NSD, including shooting, football, volleyball, and table football. Knowledge-based competitions were also organised to assess participants’ general awareness and the specialised skills acquired during the camp. DMC-10 also received an official visit from a delegation representing Qatar Charity and Misr El Kheir Foundation. The delegation was accompanied by Mohamed Bader al-Sada, the assistant secretary-general for relief and international development at the QRCS and chairman of DMC-10, who showcased the camp’s training activities and the QRCS’s advanced disaster response capabilities. These included the field hospital, ambulance services, the Disaster Information Management Centre, and the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Emergency Response Unit (ERU-MHPSS). Misr El Kheir Foundation chief executive Dr Mohamed Refey commended the QRCS for its high level of preparedness and advanced emergency relief equipment. He also congratulated the ERU-MHPSS on its official accreditation by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, making it the first unit worldwide to receive such recognition. Dr Refey expressed his organisation’s readiness to share expertise and build on the DMC experience to enhance the capacities of humanitarian actors across the region. 

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), in partnership with Qatar Charity, supplied Epiq CVx, an advanced echocardiography (ECG) machine, to the Cardiovascular Centre in Taiz, Yemen to enhance the quality of diagnostic services for patients, at a total cost of $61,146.The new machine is a high-tech ECG system for cardiac diseases, combining quality 3D imaging with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This allows for faster, more accurate assessments of cardiac function and overall enhancement in ECG applications.Dr Abu Zarr al-Gendi, the centre’s director and professor of Cardiac Surgery and Kidney Transplantation, expressed his gratitude, saying: “This has enabled us to operate with advanced technologies and perform cardiac surgeries up to the highest international standards”.According to Dr al-Gendi, the Cardiovascular Centre serves much of the country’s population as a national centre of excellence in open-heart surgery, endoscopy, and kidney transplantation.He added: “It is the only centre in Yemen that performs minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, a modern technique that allows patients to recover faster compared to traditional methods. Such major procedures are performed in specific locations and reflect the pinnacle of medical advancements, thanks to modern technology”.Dr Sidqi al-Qubati, consultant cardiologist and head of the Catheterisation Department, described the new machine as a strategic contribution to the centre’s operations, offering advanced diagnostic techniques for accurate pre and intraoperative assessment, which ensured the right medical intervention at the right time, as well as improving the quality of health care provided for the patients.Abdullah Ibrahim al-Nuaimi, head of Qatar Charity’s office in Yemen, stated: “The supply of a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for the Cardiovascular Centre in Taiz is part of Qatar Charity’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni health sector, as well as capacity-building for medical facilities with the latest diagnostic equipment and technologies.“This initiative is an outcome of collaboration with QRCS, which is a perfect example of humanitarian partnerships aimed at upgrading public health services. We hope this contribution will help make cardiac diagnoses more accurate and enable medical professionals to provide advanced health care that meets the needs of patients and aligns with modern medical standards”.Eng Ahmed Hassan al-Sharaji, head of QRCS’ representation office in Yemen, said this step was part of the ongoing efforts to improve health care services for the patients in Yemen, without having to travel abroad for treatment.He pointed out: “We are proud to be part of the centre’s success in serving the patients and improving their quality of life. I would like to thank our partners at Qatar Charity and the local authorities for their co-operation. We look forward to further work together on more projects addressed to the health sector, and patients with heart disease in particular”.The recent activity was the last step of a project to support the Cardiovascular Centre in Taiz, at a total cost of more than $1.14mn. Earlier, an Azurion 3 F15 cardiac catheterisation machine was delivered, and the cardiac catheterisation department was opened almost two years ago. 

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a new food distribution project for the benefit of 72,000 war-affected and internally displaced people (IDPs) across the Gaza Strip. The initiative is co-implemented by Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) as part of the ongoing Qatar aid programme for the people of Gaza. The project is aimed at alleviating the suffering of those worst hit by the recent war, including patients (kidney failure, cancers, heart disease, diabetes and chronic diseases, disabilities, malnutrition, and war injuries); IDPs and destroyed homes; children and young people; socially vulnerable families and older persons; and other victims of bombing and zero-income workers who have lost their jobs. Relief catering hubs have already been set up to prepare and pack the family-size hot meals, each of which is sufficient for 3-5 persons. The project’s field team is deployed to distribute the ready-made meals in the target areas over 12 days, at a rate of 450-500 meals per day for each of the project’s three phases. 

His Excellency the President of the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), Yousef bin Ali al-Khater, has praised the efforts of volunteers who participated in the organisational measures of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 matches, as well as their dedicated efforts and sincerity toward achieving successes and accomplishments. This came during a QRCS-organised ceremony in honour of a contingent of volunteers and partners, in recognition of their pivotal role in ensuring a successful Arab tournament, following the colossal efforts they undertook in both organisational and field aspects, which contributed to the seamless progress of matches and side events.**media[405760]**Attending the ceremony was Maj Ghanem Mohammed al-Hudaifi, Assistant Commander of the Operations Unit of the Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC), who exchanged honours and shields with HE al-Khater in appreciation of the productive collaboration between the two sides. Al-Khater, for his part, expressed hope that this honoured image of volunteerism at QRCS would continue to expand regionally and globally, culminating in a tremendous model and school for preparing volunteers to operate in community and humanitarian fields. He applauded the efforts undertaken by partners from the Ministry of Interior and the security committee for their massive confidence, alongside the concerned officials in the General Secretariat and the Executive Apparatus. Al-Khater further extended his gratitude to the Volunteering Department, noting that the path to achievement was hard and streamlined by ongoing collaboration and intensive communication, emphasising that success genuinely matched the effort. The ceremony showcased a primer that highlighted the role of volunteers in maintaining security and safety on the pitch, exactly according to the training provided under the supervision of the security committee.**media[405762]**This included various functions, such as organising spectators, following security instructions, initial intervention in contingency cases, as well as contributing to the preservation of sanitation and order. During the ceremony, the child Osama Khaled Abu Armilah performed a volunteering anthem, followed by the launch of the “Fursan Volunteering” project, which was announced by Assistant Secretary‑General for Volunteering and Local Development, Hussein Aman al-Ali, alongside Head of the Volunteering Department at QRCS, Sharifa Nasser al-Ruwahi. Al-Ali highlighted that this project is a consequential step to broaden the volunteerism horizons and attract children and students as vital volunteers, noting that Osama was the first volunteer within this initiative. Al-Khater, accompanied by al-Ali, honoured partners and supporters from the Special Security Services Organisation Unit, alongside the leaders of the volunteer teams, the logistics team, and a variety of distinguished volunteers who performed exceptional tasks, as well as the administrative team that oversaw the performance and work of the volunteers. The participation of QRCS in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 underscores the significance of volunteerism in supporting sporting events and key national platforms, promoting a culture of giving and community engagement, while also providing young people with the opportunity to internalise experience and hone skills in the organisation and management of sporting events. The volunteers were co-opted through multiple stages, beginning with the reception of volunteering applications, their screening, and oral examinations, followed by the training and qualification phase, which is still ongoing, culminating in the final list of leaders, supervisors, and field teams, which included 3,700 volunteers, ahead of this key Arab sporting event.An accredited training team from the Special Security Services Organisation Unit supervised the delivery of specialised training programmes, covering essential knowledge and skills related to crowd management, security and safety guidance, enhancing alertness, security awareness, rapid decision-making, problem-solving, and teamwork, among other topics.Volunteers receive both theoretical and practical training to ensure effective handling of all aspects of organisation, security, and safety on the pitch and in the spectator areas. 

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS)’s representation office in Yemen announced that more than 77,000 refugees and locals in Sanaa received comprehensive healthcare services, as part of a healthcare project with a $904,005 funding from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Two medical facilities are covered by the project: Al-Hafi and Al-Rahbi healthcare complexes. The project also involves referrals for the patients requiring emergency or advanced care to government hospitals and specialised medical centres/clinics. From January to November 2025, the number of beneficiaries reached 42,113 and 35,270 locals, who received a wide range of primary healthcare services for free, including consultations; medical examinations; medications; radiology; mental health; reproductive health; maternity and child healthcare; vaccinations; and health education on pregnancy care, reduction of pregnancy complications, benefits of breastfeeding, prevention of infectious diseases and cholera, and personal hygiene. Moreover, 2,260 refugees benefited from the referral programme, with significant medical services provided, including 300 surgeries, at specialised government hospitals. The procedures included open-heart surgeries, therapeutic catheterisations, thoracic surgeries, orthopaedics, and advanced tests at private-sector laboratories and medical centres. Ibrahim Issa, a 57-year-old Somali refugee is one of the beneficiaries who shared their experience, saying: “For two years, I had been suffering from a severe neck pain. Recently, I underwent a cervical spine fixation surgery at the Al-Jumhuri Hospital’s Department of Orthopedics. I received comprehensive and free-of-charge healthcare from my admission to full recovery. I am deeply grateful and overjoyed to be free from pain, which had plagued me for years”. The Ethiopian refugee Fareed Siraj, 15, expressed his gratitude, saying: “My mother received full medical care at the Al-Thawra Hospital’s Department of Cardiac Catheterisation. She underwent a therapeutic catheterisation and stent placement in the right artery. I am extremely happy and thankful for this project, which saved her life from imminent danger. We could never afford the procedure’s cost of $4,000”. For seven consecutive years, QRCS has been providing regular support for Al-Hafi and Al-Rahbi primary healthcare complexes, including medications, medical solutions, stationery, fuel, water, and operational expenses.
