The Ministry of Municipality affirmed its commitment to transforming waste into opportunities and building a more sustainable future, on the occasion of International Zero Waste Day, which falls on March 30th of each year, by promoting source segregation, advancing the circular economy, and achieving the goal of Qatar Zero Waste.The ministry affirmed in a post on X platform Monday that source segregation is the separation of waste inside the home from the very beginning into plastic, paper, metals, organic waste, and general waste, noting that a small step makes a big impact.The ministry explained that waste separation contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, limiting pollution, protecting the environment and natural resources, as well as reducing waste in landfills and enhancing the quality of life.In the context of its efforts, the ministry pointed to supporting recycling projects, conducting ongoing awareness campaigns, providing dedicated waste sorting bins, and improving waste management.The Ministry of Municipality called for the sorting of waste to begin, stressing the importance of community participation to achieve a cleaner environment and a better future. 

The Ministry of Municipality on Saturday observed the Earth Hour event by switching off nonessential lights at its compounds for an hour, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.In a post on the X platform, the ministry clarified that its participation in this global event came as part of awareness-promotion efforts on the criticality of rationalizing power and backing climate change-combating efforts, as well as in support of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar Development Bank (QDB) announced the activation of a suite of financing and advisory programmes in co-operation with the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Public Health, and in co-ordination with the Committee for the Follow-up of the Implementation of Food Security Policies.These programmes are designed to support and empower companies and factories operating in the food and health sectors, as well as their ancillary industries, in response to private sector feedback received through the bank's operations room in light of current regional developments.These services include Supply Chain Financing for Priority Products. QDB will provide partial guarantees for wholesale and retail trade companies to support financing applications through the commercial banks where the company holds an account.The second service is Raw Material Inventory Financing. QDB will offer financing for factories in priority sectors to strengthen their raw material inventory and prepare for any potential future disruptions in supply chains. QDB also launched Logistics Support Programme for Imports. It is a dedicated programme launched to support import operations and logistics for factories operating in the food and health sectors and their ancillary industries to mitigate the impact of rising shipping and transportation costs through financial support to compensate for the increase in related imports logistics costs, facilitating connections with strategic partners and reliable logistics providers, conducting specialised workshops on logistics operations and international trade, and providing access to up-to-date insights and the latest market developments.To benefit from these services, the QDB explained that companies and factories on the designated list will be directly contacted, in co-ordination with relevant parties and in alignment with pre-defined sector priorities, and in line with the priorities of the targeted sectors that were previously identified under the current regional circumstances.

The Ministry of Municipality Ramadan Football Championship 2026 kicked off on Sunday at Al Sadd Club’s Stadiums, with the participation of teams representing various sectors of the ministry and municipalities, in a competitive atmosphere that reflects the spirit of co-operation among employees.The tournament will continue until early March. The opening matches saw the Agricultural Affairs and Food Security Sector team defeat the Doha Municipality team with a score of (6-1). Meanwhile, the Al Khor Municipality team secured a win against the Al Rayyan Municipality team with a score of (5-3), marking a strong start to the tournament, which will proceed according to the approved schedule leading up to the final match. 

The Ministry of Municipality has signed a memorandum of co-operation with the Arab Union of the Blind on the sidelines of the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ 2026). This step reflects the ministry’s commitment to strengthening community partnerships and empowering people with visual impairments in the projects it implements. The memorandum was co-signed by Assistant Undersecretary for Urban Planning Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Turki Fahad al-Turki, and President of the Arab Union of the Blind Dr Khalid bin Ali al-Nuaimi. The memorandum of co-operation aims to enhance collaboration between the two parties in supporting and empowering visually impaired individuals. This will be achieved through the exchange of expertise and knowledge, and co-ordination in implementing relevant initiatives and programmes, thereby enabling this group to actively participate in society and contributing to the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. The memorandum includes provisions for organising joint initiatives and activities, exchanging relevant information and data, and forming a joint working group to develop action plans and to monitor the implementation of programmes and initiatives, thereby enhancing performance quality. This agreement reflects the Ministry of Municipality’s commitment to expanding its partnerships with civil society organisations, contributing to the consolidation of the principles of sustainability and social responsibility, and enhancing the quality of life for all members of society.  

Eng Abdullah Ahmed al-Karani, the assistant undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, has honoured public cleaning worker Mohamed Nour El-Din in recognition of his honesty and effective cooperation with the security authorities, after he discovered smuggled narcotic substances while performing his duties in the northern area of the country.The ceremony was attended by Eng Abdulaziz al-Rumaihi, the director of the Projects and Development Department at the Ministry of Municipality.This recognition came after El-Din directly reported the incident to the security authorities, in co-ordination with the operations manager at Lavajet Company.The security authorities then carried out the necessary field procedures, and the seized materials were confiscated in accordance with the applicable legal procedures. 

The Ministry of Municipality announced the arrival of two Asian elephants at Al Khor Park. The elephants are a gift from the government and people of Nepal, which embodies the depth of bilateral relations and the bonds of friendship and co-operation.The ministry said the male elephant, Khagendra Pradsad, is six years old and weighs 1,190kg, while the female, Rudra Kali, is seven years old and weighs 1,200kg. They were born and bred in the Elephant Breeding and Training Centre, Sauraha, Chitwan National Park, Nepal.The couple were seen off from Chitwan National Park on December 17, according to a The Himalayan Times report. The paper cited Dr Haribhadra Acharya, Information officer at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, who said the calves would be transported to Qatar via a chartered cargo plane from Bhairahawa International Airport. The preparations were underway to move the calves from Sauraha to Bhairahawa a day earlier to meet the flight schedule and road conditions.**media[396061]**According to Acharya, two mahouts are accompanying the elephants under the supervision of park animal technician Dinesh Dhakal, who will return to Nepal after ensuring the proper management of the elephants. Nepal has previously gifted elephants to friendly nations as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and highlight the country's biodiversity internationally.The Elephant Breeding and Training Centre initially received 16 elephants from India, two from Myanmar, and two from Thailand. To date, the centre has bred and raised 68 elephants, six of which have died, while 61 have undergone formal training.The decision to gift elephants to Qatar was first announced during the official visit of then Nepal president Bidya Devi Bhandari in 2018. The ministry explained, via X, that the public can visit the Asian elephants at the Al Khor Park by booking through the Aoun app or the ministry's website.

The Ministry of Municipality has launched an extensive inspection plan ahead of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, set to take place from December 1 to 18, aimed at ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality across food and service establishments. The plan seeks to promote a healthy and safe environment for the public while developing an efficient monitoring system capable of keeping pace with major sporting events.In a press release issued Monday, the Ministry affirmed that these efforts align with the directives of HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, which aim to enhance quality of life and well-being and ensure a healthy and safe environment for all.In this context, Doha Municipality has launched a comprehensive two-week inspection campaign targeting 156 hotels, with 30 inspectors working around the clock. The campaign focuses on food establishments, salons, and massage centers, in accordance with the health requirements outlined in Ministerial Decision No. (38) of 2025. Samples of food products are also being collected and analyzed at the government laboratory to ensure they are safe and suitable for human consumption.The campaign covers key tourist and high-traffic areas, including Souq Waqif, Doha Port, The Pearl-Qatar, and Msheireb Downtown Doha, in addition to food stalls and mobile carts in parks and public spaces, with the participation of 24 inspectors.These monitoring activities will continue throughout the tournament and the National Day celebrations, ensuring a comprehensive regulatory framework that reflects the Ministry's commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for all.Meanwhile, Al Rayyan Municipality announced the intensification of its inspection campaigns across tourist establishments within its jurisdiction in preparation for the tournament. The campaigns target restaurants, hotels, shops, and other facilities frequented by visitors and tourists to ensure full compliance with approved health requirements and provide a safe and healthy environment during this major sporting event.The Ministry stressed the importance of public cooperation and encouraged residents and visitors to report any observations or complaints related to food establishments as part of ongoing efforts to enhance service quality and maintain public safety. 

The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality, participated in the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors' Forum, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under the theme: Collaborate. Inspire. Transform.The Ministry was represented by a delegation that included Director General of Al Rayyan Municipality Mansour Ajran Al Buainain, Director General of Al Wakrah Municipality Jaber Hassan Al Jaber, Director General of Al Daayen Municipality Rashid Mishlesh Al Khayarin, and Director of the Technical Affairs Department at Al Rayyan Municipality Khalifa Al Khayarin.During the summit, participants reviewed leading international practices in smart urban planning and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation among municipalities and cities across the region in the areas of sustainability, transportation and resource management. The discussions also explored opportunities for technical and environmental partnerships among the participating cities.

The Ministry of Municipality has continued its efforts to combat the spread of insects and pests at various places across the country, to maintain public health and hygiene.The various municipalities carried out several campaigns to fight insects during September 26- October 16, when 5,342 requests were handled. These included 1,148 in Doha municipality, 117 in Sheehaniya, 802 in Umm Salal, 100 in Al Shamal, 584 in Al Wakra, 185 in Al Khor and Al Thakhira, 1,362 in Al Rayyan, and 1,034 in Al Daayan Municipality.Through Oun App, 3,447 requests were received, 1,832 through the unified call centre, 63 through the ministry website, with a total requests of 5,342 within one week.The insecticide spraying campaigns are going on alongside the different awareness campaigns meant to instruct the public on how to curb the spread of insects and pests.

The Ministry of Municipality has announced that it had completed 93% of its transactions electronically, achieving a customer satisfaction rate of 84.7% in 2025.This comes as part of its efforts to enhance customer experience and improve the quality of government services.In a statement, the ministry confirmed that this year witnessed a qualitative leap in digital transformation and the development of service delivery channels.The total number of services provided to the public reached 172 services through its website, and 127 services through the “Aoun” application, contributing to facilitating access to services from anywhere, at any time.It explained that the total number of requests submitted through various channels amounted to approximately 618,990, including 156,845 via the “Aoun” app, 278,821 via the website, and 132,071 via customer service offices. Meanwhile, the number of requests scheduled electronically for certain services reached 26,651. The “Aoun” app also recorded more than 131,000 downloads on Android and iOS systems, while the number of visits to the ministry’s websiteexceeded 3.3mn during the past period. Statistics showed that the percentage of electronic transactions completed reached 93 % of the total services, while the percentage reached 97.7% for requests submitted through customer service offices.This reflects the ministry’s success in establishing the concept of smart services and achieving public satisfaction through speed and accuracy.According to the statement, the number of beneficiaries of the ministry’s services during the current year reached approximately 332,479, while the Unified Call Center (184) received about 174,989 calls, with an average transaction completion time at government service centres of no more than three and a half minutes. Customer satisfaction with the ministry’s services reached an advanced level of 84.7% during the period from January to the end of last August.The ministry noted that it continues to enhance communication with the public through its digital channels, with the total number of followers reaching more than 533,776 on the “X”, “Instagram”, and “Facebook” platforms.It said that during the same period, it received 9,557 reports, including 3,353 urgent reports and 6,204 regular reports, which were handled according to the highest standards of responsiveness and transparency.The ministry concluded it statement emphasising that these achievements reflect its commitment to providing advanced, smart services that support the country’s digital transformation journey and align with the government’s efforts to enhance institutional efficiency and achieve customer satisfaction, in line with the goals of sustainable development and Qatar National Vision 2030.
