Champions crowned as Al Shaqab Showjumping League concludes

The Al Shaqab Showjumping League Finals came to a spectacular conclusion at the Longines Indoor Arena at Al Shaqab on Saturday, bringing the curtain down on another successful season with the crowning of overall champions across nine categories. Organised by Al Shaqab, the league has established itself as one of the region's premier platforms for showjumping development, providing riders across multiple age groups and performance levels with a professional environment to hone their skills, nurture emerging talent and strengthen equestrian culture while preparing the next generation of champions. After a closely contested campaign decided through a cumulative points system, Mohammed Alasaker emerged as the Al Shaqab Champions overall winner with 100 points. Saudi’s Khalid al-Hadi claimed the Youth Champions title with 107 points, while Khalid Jassim al-Suwaidi secured the Junior Champions crown with 103 points. In the remaining categories, Abdulla Faisal al-Mana won the Future Champions title with 99 points, Hayfa Hamad al-Thani topped the Amateur Class with 93 points, Salha Khalid al-Obaidli claimed the Intro 3 (80cm) category with 64 points, Mashael Mohammed al-Thani won Intro 2 (60cm) with 62.5 points, and Abdullah Ahmad al-Naser finished first in Intro 1 (40cm) with 54 points. Afreen Team were crowned team champions after accumulating 102.5 points. The winners were crowned by Rashid Nasser al-Kaabi, a member of the Al Shaqab Board of Directors and Mohammed Jaber al-Khayarin, Director of Equestrian Education at Al Shaqab.The final day featured the Youth Champions (135cm), Amateur (105cm), Future Champions (115cm) and Junior Champions (125cm) classes before culminating with the prestigious Al Shaqab Champions (145cm), which offered a prize purse of QR70,000. In the feature Al Shaqab Champions 145cm class, Ibrahim Yousef Almahmoud riding Qataro van het Texelhof delivered two faultless rounds to take victory in 58.85 seconds. Sultan Salem al-Naemi aboard Gannan de La Luce finished second, while Saudi Arabia's Bader Alfard riding Murdock claimed third place. The Junior Champions 125cm class saw Ahmad Jassim al-Suwaidi dominate the podium, winning aboard Power Girl Jmg while also securing second place with Mona Lansia M. Sharida Nasser al-Kaabi and Extra Pam completed the top three. In the Youth Champions 135cm competition, Saad Ahmed al-Saad partnered Fashion des Douits to victory after a fast jump-off, edging Khaled al-Hadi on Carlton de Sauvageonn into second, with Abdulaziz Khalid Albukhari and Ganges Loca finishing third. The Future Champions 115cm on the day was won by Abdulla Ahmad al-Musafri riding Gringo, ahead of Sharida Nasser al-Kaabi on Graffiti de Lully CH, while newly crowned overall champion Abdulla Faisal al-Mana and Kontiki Dice placed third. In the Amateur 105cm class, Nasser Hamad al-Thani riding Equinoxe de l'Aulne claimed first place, narrowly ahead of overall Amateur champion Hayfa Hamad al-Thani aboard Take Me Home Z, with Iraq's Mariam Abdulkarim Abed and Sandro Girl finishing third.Honouring the championship sponsors At the conclusion of the 2025-2026 Al Shaqab Show Jumping League, Rashid Nasser al-Kaabi, member of the Al Shaqab Board of Directors, honoured the championship's sponsors in recognition of their invaluable support and contribution to the success of the season. The organisations recognised included the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund (Daam), Old Doha Port and Qatar International Islamic Bank, along with Al Kass Sports Channels for its extensive media coverage that helped showcase the league and bring its competitions to a wider audience of equestrian enthusiasts. The recognition highlighted the importance of collaboration between national institutions in supporting equestrian sport in Qatar and driving its continued growth and success. Khaled Sanad al-Nuaimi: Delighted with the league’s success Khalid Sanad al-Nuaimi, Event Director of the Al Shaqab League, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the 2025-2026 Al Shaqab Show Jumping League, praising the high technical standards and strong participation across all age categories. "We are proud of what has been achieved this season, both technically and organisationally," al-Nuaimi said. "The Al Shaqab League has provided an ideal platform for developing talent, enhancing riders' skills and preparing them for higher-level competitions. We witnessed clear progress in the performance of participants from one round to the next, underlining the importance of these championships in strengthening the foundations of Qatari equestrian sport." He also thanked the riders, trainers, parents and participating teams for their role in the league's success, while acknowledging the continued support of its partners and sponsors, including the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund (Daam), Old Doha Port, Qatar International Islamic Bank and Al Kass Sports Channels. "We look forward to building on this season's achievement Al-Eid claims Gold Tour at Hathab finale

Saudi Arabia’s Khaled al-Eid claimed top honours in the Gold Tour as the 14th and final round of the Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab continued at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation.Competing in the Gold Tour Table A special two-phase event over 140cm, al-Eid partnered Rakker Dmc to produce a flawless round in 32.37 seconds to finish first among 17 participants. Qatar’s Faris Saad al-Qahtani riding Gaya des Cours secured second place in 34.34secs, while Sultan Salem al-Naemi aboard Gannan de La Luce finished third in 35.40secs.In the Gold Tour team event, Al Shaqab delivered a strong performance to take first place in 66.36secs. Al Shaqab Academy finished second in 69.62secs, while Alsalam came third in 71.06secs. **media[448932]**The Open Tour accumulator with joker competition over 110cm saw another impressive outing from Khaled al-Hadi of Saudi Arabia, who clinched first and second places. Riding DSP Cessy, he topped the standings with 65 points in 39.74secs, before taking second on Carlton de Sauvageonn with the same score in 40.00secs. Qatar’s Abdulla Faisal al-Mana riding Kontiki Dice completed the podium in third place with 65 points in 40.37secs. In the Junior category, al-Mana secured first place, while Sharida Nasser al-Kaabi finished second riding Gravity and Extra Pam respectively.The Future Riders optimum time competition over 70cm attracted 38 participants, with Mohammed Sami al-Boenain claiming first place aboard Volnay M'Aurea after recording a difference of just 0.04 seconds from the ideal time. Hissa Ali al-Jaber riding Violet Van Het Koetshuis finished second with 0.11, while Abdulaziz Ibrahim al-Baker took third on the same horse with -0.27.The final day of the season concludes today with the Diamond Tour competitions over 150cm, the Bronze Tour individual and team events at 120cm, and the Future Riders contest over 90cm.

Alsharbatly claims Diamond Tour honours at Hathab

Saudi Arabia's Abdullah Alsharbatly delivered a commanding performance to secure victory in the Diamond Tour during the tenth round of the Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour at the Qatar Equestrian Federation's (QEF) main arena Saturday.Competing in the Accumulator with Joker class over 150cm, Alsharbatly guided Frenchy Vds to the top of the podium after collecting 65 points in a time of 55.62 seconds. Qatar's Nasser al-Ghazali finished second with Heavens Light H on 65 points in 60.65 seconds, while Kuwait's Yara al-Hunaidi secured third place aboard Caprice 563 in 62.00 seconds.**media[434490]**The Bronze Tour individual class, staged as a Table A one round against the clock over 120cm, witnessed a fiercely contested finish among the large field of riders. Saudi Arabia's Abdulaziz Gohal clinched victory with a faultless round aboard Apollon du Banney, clocking 49.51 seconds. Qatar's Ahmad Jassim al-Suwaidi followed closely in second place with Power Girl Jmg in 49.52 seconds, narrowly ahead of Saudi rider Khaled al-Hadi, who completed the podium with Carlton de Sauvageonn in 49.67 seconds.In the team standings of the Bronze Tour, Al Shaqab Team delivered a composed performance to secure first place with a combined clear effort in 110.13 seconds. Marwan Al Shaqab finished second in 112.26 seconds, while Aladeed Al Shaqab claimed third place after accumulating eight faults in 102.51 seconds.Young talents also showcased their developing skills in the Future Riders class over 90cm, staged in a two-phase format. Qatar's Abdulla Faisal al-Mana emerged victorious riding Brooq with a double-clear round in 17.47 seconds. Fahad Talal al-Naimi secured second place aboard Kroaat Van Orchid's in 19.36 seconds, while Norah Jassim al-Thani completed the podium with Sandor in 20.73 seconds.Commenting after the conclusion of the tenth round, Ali bin Yousef al-Rumaihi, Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee, emphasised that supporting riders remains a central priority within the QEF's strategy. He highlighted that providing an ideal competitive environment is fundamental to the committee's vision, noting that the support extends beyond elite riders to include emerging talents in junior and future rider categories through dedicated competitions designed to build experience and confidence.Al-Rumaihi added that the current phase represents an important milestone in the championship calendar as the series enters its decisive closing stages following the completion of the international competitions earlier this year. He stressed that continued participation in these rounds plays a key role in maintaining riders' readiness, sharpening technical abilities, and translating experience into stronger performances in the arena.The Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour features 14 rounds staged across the QEF's facilities and the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, and remains one of the country's most prominent domestic equestrian championships.

Qatar hosts FEI Group VII Finals for the first time at Al Shaqab

Al Shaqab Thursday hosted the opening day of the prestigious FEI Group VII Finals, marking the first time the event has been held in Qatar. The Longines Outdoor Arena welcomed the region’s top emerging riders for a landmark edition that highlights youth equestrian sport across the Middle East and North Africa.The Finals bring together the highest-ranked Children, Junior, and Young Riders from across Group VII following a year of dedicated qualification. Many of these young athletes are progressing along the official pathway toward the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, making this inaugural hosting a key milestone for both Qatar and the wider region.Riders from Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Algeria and Libya are competing in Doha, creating one of the strongest and most diverse Group VII line-ups to date.Day one featured one open class and three FEI classes, each demanding technical precision, rhythm, and control. In the CSIYJ-A Special Two-Phase (274.2.5) — 1.20m, Mohammed Eisa al-Bukhari claimed first place, with Abdalla Hamad Ali al-Kirbi and Saleh Mufrrej Ali Mohamed al-Karbi completing the podium.Commenting on the opening day, Khalid Sanad al-Naimi, Event Director at Al Shaqab, said:"Today marks a proud and historic moment for Al Shaqab and for equestrian sport in the region. Hosting the FEI Group VII Finals in Qatar for the first time reflects our commitment to youth development, excellence, and elevating the competitive landscape across the Middle East and North Africa. The performances on Day 1 highlight the strength of the next generation of riders."

6th Round of Longines Hathab Equestrian Tour to kick off tomorrow

The sixth round of the Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab 2025–2026 season will kick off tomorrow, Thursday, at the Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation. Organized by the Federation in partnership with Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, the three-day event will feature numerous elite riders. Tomorrow’s competitions will begin with the Amateur Tour at a height of 100 cm, followed by the Silver Tour at 130 cm. The competitions will continue on Friday with the Future Riders Tour for riders aged 6 to 12 at a height of 70 cm, followed by the Gold Tour for individual and team riders at 140 cm, and finally the Open Tour at 110 cm. The event will conclude on Saturday with the Future Riders competition for the 12–16 age group at a height of 90 cm, followed by the Bronze Tour for individual and team events at 120 cm, and will wrap up with the Diamond Tour at 150 cm. The Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab is one of the country’s most prominent local championships. It contributes significantly to the development of equestrian sports by providing a high-level competitive platform that allows riders to gain valuable experience and strengthens cooperation among various equestrian stakeholders in Qatar.

Haidan claims Diamond Tour at Hathab

Mohammed Saeed Haidan clinched the top honours in the Diamond Tour during the fifth round of the ninth edition of the Longines Hathab Championship – Qatar Equestrian Tour at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s outdoor arena. Haidan clocked 32.83 seconds astride Quick, while Saudi rider Khaled al-Eid finished second with a time of 34.34 seconds on Q Line. Hamad Nasser al-Qadi was third in 38.98 seconds on Edison.In the 120cm Bronze Tour, Jaber Rashid al-Ameri took first place in 44.74 seconds on Apollon. Khaled al-Hadi finished second in 46.02 seconds on Capion, while Hamad Nasser al-Qadi came third on Deep Water in 50.79 seconds. In the Bronze Tour team event, The Dome emerged victorious, followed by Ajwad and Al Adaid Al Shaqab.In the 90cm Future Riders competition, Sultan Jassim al-Suwaidi secured first place on Violet. Fahad Talal al-Nuaimi finished second on Croat, and Mohammed al-Mutairi came third astride Baccarat.In Dressage, Hamad Nasser al-Marri won the preliminary test title with 68.333 points, while Hajar Khan claimed the Level 2 preliminary title with 70.000 points. Mohammed Faisal Al Marri topped the Junior Level 2 preliminary test with 68.621 points, and Michelle Grimes took first place in the Level 1 dressage round with 74.817 points.

Mohammed al-Asaker stole the spotlight in the fifth round of the ninth edition of the Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab – clinching the Golden Tour title with a commanding performance at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s outdoor arenaRiding Skoblinski, al-Asaker delivered a superb round to finish in 56.07 seconds, ahead of Ibrahim Yousef al-Mahmoud on Costa (57.69 seconds) and Khaled al-Eid on Raker (59.57 seconds). In the Golden Tour Team event, Wathnan emerged victorious with a combined time of 120.62 seconds, narrowly edging Ajwad (120.93 seconds), while Al Fardan settled for third (121.68 seconds).Earlier in the day, the Open Tour (110 cm) produced thrilling performances, with Khaled Al Hadi taking first place after clocking 30.51 seconds on Doremi. Mohammed al-Dhalaan came in second on Sarina (30.67 seconds), followed by Saif Mohammed al-Nuaimi on Sydney (31.08 seconds).In the junior category, Khalid Jassim al-Suwaidi secured top spot on Du Guinette (31.23 seconds), ahead of Ali Omar al-Ansari on Nikita (33.07 seconds) and Sherida Nasser al-Kaabi on Extra Pam (33.31 seconds).The competition also featured the Future Riders Tour (70 cm), where Mashael Mohammed al-Thani excelled to claim first place on Malaga with a time of 50.07 seconds, just 0.07 seconds off the ideal time. Nasser Hamad al-Thani took second on Coco Chanel (49.59 seconds, 0.41 seconds off), while Hessa Ali al-Jaber finished third on Violet (50.68 seconds, 0.68 seconds off).

LGCT returns to Rabat as legacy of Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture

The Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) has returned to Rabat, upholding the cultural and diplomatic bond forged between Qatar and Morocco during the successful 2024 Year of Culture (YoC) initiative. Jan Tops, founder and president of the Longines Global Champions Tour, said: “What began as a collaboration under the Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture has grown into an enduring connection, reminding us that horses have long been a bridge between people, traditions, and continents.” This year’s event marked the 15th leg of the 2025 Tour, held just before the Riyadh finale. The world’s top 30 riders competed in one of the most striking venues on the circuit, framed by the Hassan Tower, the Rabat Grand Theatre, and the Mohammed VI Tower, landmarks that embody the city’s harmony between tradition and modernity.

Haidan storms to victory in Gold Round at Hathab

Mohammed Saeed Haidan clinched victory in the 140cm Gold Round of the fourth leg of the ninth edition of the Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab – held at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s outdoor arena. The event is organised by the Qatar Equestrian Federation in partnership with Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation. Riding Quick Bell, Haidan clocked a winning time of 35.65 seconds. Khaled al-Hadi finished second in 38.31 seconds on Capion, while Ghanem Nasser al-Qadi came third in 38.49 seconds on Assis.In the team competition of the same round, Al Fardan Team secured first place with a combined time of 78.32 seconds. Lekhwiya Team followed in second (79.31 seconds), and Al Shaqab Team finished third (82.77 seconds).In the Open Round, Khaled al-Hadi claimed first place with a time of 44.59 seconds on Carlton, ahead of Yaqoub Nasser al-Mas on Equinox (44.64 seconds) and Sheikha Fatima bint Jabor al-Thani on Eddie (45.81 seconds).In the Junior category, Abdulaziz bin Jassim al-Thani topped the standings with a time of 46.53 seconds on Gabbana. Khalid Jassim al-Suwaidi came second on De Genette (56.52 seconds), while Hadi Mansour al-Shahwani finished third on Brouq (60 seconds).In the Future Riders Tour (0.70m), Mishaal Mohammed al-Thani triumphed on Malaga with a time of 52.8 seconds, just 0.08 seconds off the ideal mark. Salman Faisal al-Marri placed second on Kingstar (50.92 seconds), followed by Manar Rashid al-Shahwani on Coco Chanel (49.96 seconds).

Al Shaqab Training Show will take place this Friday, October 10, from 3pm to 8pm at the Longines Indoor Arena, Al Shaqab announced Sunday. This event serves as an important platform to showcase the talents of aspiring riders and prepare them for the upcoming season’s competitions, including the prestigious Al Shaqab League.The Training Show is designed as a vital stage that empowers riders to gain practical experience in a safe and motivating competitive environment. Khaled al-Eid, Manar Rashid al-Shahwani and Yaqoub Nasser Al Mass were among the standout winners on the second day of the third round of the Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab staged at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s indoor arena. Saudi rider al-Eid triumphed in the Golden Tour (140cm) with Racker, edging Bader al-Fard on Levigon and Qatar’s Hamad Nasser al-Qadi on Edison. The Open Class (110cm) was won by al-Mass aboard Pontendro, with Mohammed Dhafi al-Ardi second on Destiny and Chun Yuen Ammy Xiao third with Carton. In the junior category, Chun Yuen secured top spot riding Carton, ahead of Sharida Nasser al-Kaabi on Extra Bam and Tamim bin Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani on Just In Time. In the Future Riders (70cm) class, al-Shahwani clinched first place with Frederikshof, followed by Eva al-Jarmakani on Korapaun and Alia Ahmed al-Khater on Zoro.

Brazil's Santiago Lambre took runner-up spot in 58 seconds on DB GI Diakitos in a field of just three riders.The Silver Tour delivered thrilling competition as Saeed Hamad Juma clinched victory in 26.49 seconds on Diesel. Hamad Nasser al-Qadi finished second in 26.93 seconds on Deep Water, while Salman Mohammed al-Emadi took third in 27.77 seconds on Toblerone.In the Future Riders class at 90cm, Fahad Talal al-Naimi emerged on top with a time of 54.14 seconds, riding Kroaat Van Orchid’s, just 0.14 seconds off the ideal time. Greek rider Melina Karagiannidi came second in 56.28 seconds on Tullibards Simply Cool, while Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani secured third place in 56.31 seconds on Zion II VDK.Championship Director Abdullah Al-Marri hailed the strong performances across the opening two rounds, noting the intensity and competitiveness in both show jumping and dressage.
