An Israeli airstrike killed at least three people including a child in the Gaza Strip Tuesday, local health authorities said, the latest ‌violence jeopardising the ceasefire which has been under strain ​during the Israeli-US war ‌against Iran.Medics said the airstrike targeted a vehicle ‌in the ⁠western area of ‌Khan Younis, south of the ‌enclave, killing three people, including a child, and wounding 12 other ⁠people. There was no immediate Israeli comment.Israel's military has continued to strike Gaza during the regional war with Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon. On Sunday it killed 12 people in Gaza, including nine police officers in one strike that Israel said targeted a Hamas cell. The military has cited threats ​or fire from Hamas as the reason for its attacks.Israel's assault has since killed more than 72,000 Palestinians, Gaza's health authorities say, ‌including more than 670 since a ⁠ceasefire was ​reached last October. Gaza health officials said at least ​40 people have been killed by Israeli fire since the US and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran at the end of February.Three sources told Reuters on Monday that envoys from US President Donald Trump’s "Board of Peace” have met representatives of Hamas in Cairo in an effort to safeguard the October Gaza ceasefire, which has come under serious strain.A Palestinian official with knowledge of the Cairo ‌talks said that Hamas believed ‌Israel was exploiting the ⁠war on Iran to slip away from its obligations under ⁠Trump's plan. Israel rejects this.Israel ⁠and Hamas have traded blame for ceasefire violations.Separately, Israeli forces shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian and wounded another in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, health officials said Tuesday.Rights groups and medics say Israeli settlers are taking advantage of curbs on movement imposed during the US-Israeli war on Iran to attack Palestinians in the West Bank, with military roadblocks preventing ambulances from reaching victims quickly.Settlers have killed at least five Palestinians in the West Bank since the Iran war began on February 28, ‌according to the Palestinian ​health ministry. 

Israel's actions in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip seem aimed at creating "permanent demographic change", UN rights chief Volker Turk said Thursday."Taken together, Israel's actions appear aimed at making a permanent demographic change in Gaza and the West Bank, raising concerns about ethnic cleansing", Turk said in a speech before the UN's Human Rights Council in Geneva.Turk pointed in particular to an ongoing, year-long Israeli military operation in the West Bank's north that has caused the displacement of 32,000 Palestinians.Elsewhere in the West Bank, entire Bedouin herder communities have been displaced by increasing harassment and violence from Israeli settlers, including near Mikhmas to the east of Ramallah, and Ras Ein Al-Auja, in the Jordan Valley, since the start of the year.In addition to roughly three million Palestinians, more than 500,000 Israelis live in settlements and outposts in the West Bank, which are considered illegal under international law.Israel has approved a series of initiatives this month backed by far-right ministers, including launching a process to register land in the West Bank as "state property" and allowing Israelis to purchase land there directly, in a move condemned by several countries.Israel's current government has accelerated settlement expansion, approving a record 54 settlements in 2025, according to Israeli settlement watchdog NGO Peace Now.Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967.In the Gaza Strip, most of the territory's 2.2mn inhabitants have been displaced at least once since the start of the Hamas-Israel war."Intensified attacks, the methodical destruction of entire neighbourhoods and the denial of humanitarian assistance appeared to aim at a permanent demographic shift in Gaza", the UN human rights office said in a report last week."They want maximum land and minimum Arabs", Fathi Nimer, a researcher with Palestinian think-tank Al-Shabaka, told AFP, referring to a commonly used phrase used to describe Israeli settlement tactics. 

His Excellency the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Expatriates of Egypt Dr Badr Abdelatty. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral co-operation and ways to support and enhance it. They also addressed the latest developments in the region, particularly in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon, as well as efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, in addition to a number of issues of common interest.  

The death toll from the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has risen to 72,070 martyrs, in addition to 171,738 injured. The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated Saturday that hospitals across the Strip received, over the past 48 hours up to this moment, one martyr and 10 injured individuals.  It added that a number of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, as ambulance and civil defencse crews are still unable to reach them. The ministry further reported that the total number of casualties since the ceasefire last October has risen to 612 martyrs and 1,640 injured, while 726 bodies have been recovered.

His Excellency the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi met Tuesday in Ankara with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye Hakan Fidan. The meeting discussed co-operation between the countries and ways to advance them as well as the latest developments in the region, particularly in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Iran, in addition to a number of regional and international issues. During the meeting, HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s support for all efforts aimed at reducing tensions and adopting peaceful solutions, thereby enhancing security and stability at both the regional and international levels. Qatar’s ambassador to Turkiye Faisal bin Abdullah al-Hanzab attended the meeting. 

Around 180 Palestinians have left the Gaza Strip since the limited reopening of the Rafah crossing with Egypt a week ago, according to officials in the territory.The Rafah crossing, the only gateway for Gazans to the outside world that does not pass through Israel, reopened for the movement of people on February 2, nearly two years after Israeli forces seized control of it during the war with Hamas.Between Monday and Thursday, 135 people crossed into Egypt from Gaza through the crossing, mostly patients and their companions, according to Ismail al-Thawabteh, head of the Hamas-run media office in the Palestinian territory."Official statistics on the movement at the Rafah crossing from Monday, February 2, 2026, until Thursday, February 5, 2026, show a severe restriction on travel," Thawabteh said.He said the crossing was also closed on Friday and Saturday.The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that 135 Gazans had left through the crossing between February 2-5.Sunday another 44 people left the Gaza Strip through the crossing to Egypt, Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of the territory's main Al-Shifa Hospital, told AFP.They included 19 patients, while the rest were their companions, he added.A source at the border on the Egyptian side also confirmed the figure for travellers passing through the gateway Sunday.It brought the total number to 179 people entering the Gaza Strip."My son was injured during the war and a metal plate was inserted in his leg for a year and a half," Rajaa Abu al-Jadian told AFP as she prepared to leave through the crossing. "They told us it had to be removed to prevent further damage."Travel through the crossing is also taking place in the opposite direction, with dozens returning to Gaza during the same period.Thawabteh told AFP that 88 people entered the Gaza Strip from Egypt since the crossing reopened, often meeting their families in tearful reunions.Israel allowed the reopening of the Rafah crossing last Monday, reportedly following US pressure, but has so far restricted passage to patients and their accompanying relatives.The reopening of Rafah has long been demanded by the United Nations and aid organisations, and forms a key element of US President Donald Trump's truce plan for Gaza, where humanitarian conditions remain dire.For thousands of sick and wounded Palestinians, the crossing's reopening offers a rare chance to seek medical treatment in Egypt or elsewhere.Abu Salmiya said last week that around 20,000 patients in Gaza urgently require treatment, including 4,500 children. 

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the President of the friendly French Republic Emmanuel Macron discussed the two countries' strategic cooperation relations and ways to support and further strengthen them across various fields. This came during a telephone call HH the Amir received from the French President. During the call, the two sides exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, particularly efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, developments related to the Iranian issue and its implications for regional security, as well as the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, efforts to achieve a ceasefire and protect civilians.The call further addressed ways to support stability in Lebanon and to safeguard its security and sovereignty.

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a new food distribution project for the benefit of 72,000 war-affected and internally displaced people (IDPs) across the Gaza Strip. The initiative is co-implemented by Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) as part of the ongoing Qatar aid programme for the people of Gaza. The project is aimed at alleviating the suffering of those worst hit by the recent war, including patients (kidney failure, cancers, heart disease, diabetes and chronic diseases, disabilities, malnutrition, and war injuries); IDPs and destroyed homes; children and young people; socially vulnerable families and older persons; and other victims of bombing and zero-income workers who have lost their jobs. Relief catering hubs have already been set up to prepare and pack the family-size hot meals, each of which is sufficient for 3-5 persons. The project’s field team is deployed to distribute the ready-made meals in the target areas over 12 days, at a rate of 450-500 meals per day for each of the project’s three phases.

A rainstorm swept across the Gaza Strip Tuesday, flooding hundreds of tents, collapsing homes sheltering families displaced by two years ‌of war and killing at least ‍six people, local health officials said.Medics said five people, including two women and a girl, died when homes collapsed near ⁠Gaza City’s beach, while a one-year-old boy ⁠died of extreme cold in a tent in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza.Tents were torn from ‍their stakes, some flying dozens of meters before crashing to the ground. Others lay crumpled in muddy pools as families scrambled to salvage what they could. Residents tried to resecure remaining shelters, hammering in loosened pegs and stacking sandbags around the edges to keep floodwaters from pouring inside."We didn’t realise what was happening until the wall started collapsing - an eight-metre-high wall, a strong concrete wall. Because of the speed and force of the wind, ‌the wall fell on top of us, onto three tents,” said Bassel Hamuda, a displaced man in Gaza."The elderly man, 73 years old, was martyred. His son’s wife was killed, and his son’s daughter ‍was killed,” he said.Three months ⁠since a ceasefire ‌halted major combat, Israeli forces have ordered the near-total depopulation of nearly two thirds of Gaza, forcing its more than 2mn people into a narrow strip near the coast where most live either in makeshift tents or damaged buildings.Dozens of relatives gathered at a hospital morgue Tuesday for special prayers over bodies laid on medical stretchers before the funerals.The Hamas-run Gaza government media office said at least 31 Palestinians had died since the start of the winter season from exposure to cold or the collapse of unsafe buildings damaged by previous Israeli strikes.It said about 7,000 tents were damaged in the past 48 hours, most of whose occupants have no ​alternative shelter.Municipal and civil defence ‌officials said they were unable to cope with the storm because of fuel shortages and damaged equipment. During the war Israel had ⁠destroyed hundreds of vehicles needed to respond ‍to the weather emergency, including bulldozers and water pumps.In December, a UN report said 761 displacement sites hosting about 850,000 people were at high risk of flooding, and thousands had moved in anticipation of heavy rain.UN and Palestinian officials said at least 300,000 new tents were urgently needed for the roughly 1.5mn people still displaced.
