Roma took a huge step towards returning to the Champions League by beating local rivals Lazio 2-0 on Sunday in a feisty derby which finished with both teams down to 10 men, while Napoli won 3-0 at Pisa to secure a top-four spot. Gianluca Mancini smashed home two headers from corners, one in each half, at the Stadio Olimpico to move Roma up to fourth thanks also to Juventus' shock 2-0 home defeat to Fiorentina. Roma haven't played in the Champions League since being knocked out in the last 16 by Porto in 2019, an absence which has left the capital club lagging behind their rivals. But a win next weekend at relegated Verona will guarantee Roma a spot in Europe's elite club competition thanks to a two-point gap separating them from both fifth-placed Como, 1-0 winners against Parma, and Juve who are now sixth. "We should be happy because now it depends on us, we no longer have to rely on other teams' results," Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini told reporters. "Today can be happy for winning the derby and then we'll get to preparing for the next match, which is huge." The derby and all four other fixtures were pushed forward by half an hour to avoid a clash with the men's final at the Italian Open tennis tournament, which will take place a stone's throw from the Olimpico later this afternoon. A massive security presence was on show all around the stadium but the atmosphere in the ground was one-sided with the Lazio fans continuing their months-long boycott of matches in protest against owner Claudio Lotito. Roma's loud home support belted out song after song after a potentially massive win which on Sunday meant much more than just local pride. The volatile nature of the derby was highlighted by Nicolo Rovella and Wesley both being sent off in a scrap shortly after Mancini bulleted home the decisive second goal from Paulo Dybala's corner in the 66th minute. Milan hold on, Napoli in AC Milan are third, level on 70 points with Roma after a hard-fought 2-1 win at Genoa which came thanks to a Christopher Nkunku penalty five minutes after half-time and Zachary Athekame's drilled strike eight minutes from the end. The seven-time European champions' form has fallen off a cliff in recent weeks but a win at home over Cagliari next weekend will guarantee Massimiliano Allegri's team a spot in the top four. Napoli were always favourites to win at relegated Pisa and made no mistake to make sure of their spot in next season's Champions League. Scott McTominay got the ball rolling in the 21st minute with his 14th goal of the season in all competitions, and the deal was as good as done five minutes later when Amir Rrahmani forced Eljif Elmas' corner. Rasmus Hojlund rounded off a straight-forward win in stoppage time as Napoli pulled five points ahead of Como and Juventus with one game remaining. Denmark striker Hojlund has been on loan from Manchester United who will now receive a reported 44 million euros as Champions League qualification has triggered the obligation to buy in the deal agreed with the Prmeier League giants. Juventus, who looked like the one team who would easily stay in the top four, now need a helping hand after a dismal performance against Fiorentina team which had nothing to play for other than to give a bloody nose to their fierce rivals. Luciano Spalletti's team, who face local rivals Torino next weekend. are not out of the pitcure yet as they have a better head-to-head record than Roma and a significantly better goal difference than Milan, so dropped points from both those teams or Como would leave an opening. "I can't judge my players just on the basis of today... but the fact that we haven't reacted, not played at our best is down to me," said Spalletti. Later, Inter Milan will celebrate their 21st league title at the San Siro after their fixture with Verona, with the trophy presentation on the pitch before a day-long parade around Milan.

Paris Saint-Germain warmed up for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich by fielding a second-string line-up and throwing away the lead twice in a 2-2 draw with Lorient in Ligue 1 Saturday. Ibrahim Mbaye’s fortuitous early goal to put PSG ahead at the Parc des Princes was cancelled out by Pablo Pagis for mid-table Lorient, but Warren Zaire-Emery gave the hosts the lead for the second time, moments after coming on as a second-half substitute. However, a mistake by teenage debutant Pierre Mounguengue allowed Aiyegun Tosin to run through and score a second for Lorient, and PSG could not find a winner - even being awarded a penalty in stoppage time for a non-existent handball which was overturned by VAR. The result means the Ligue 1 title race remains alive, with PSG seven points clear of Lens who have four games remaining including at Nice later Saturday. Lens also still have to host PSG, and Luis Enrique’s side are focused principally on the defence of their European title as they face Bayern away on Wednesday after winning 5-4 at home in the first leg. “We needed the three points. This has opened up the title race a little bit,” admitted Luis Enrique. “It is very difficult in terms of motivation after playing a Champions League semi-final in an incredible atmosphere, but I expect more from my players,” said the PSG coach, who made nine changes here, with only Willian Pacho and Desire Doue retained from midweek. Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were unused substitutes against Lorient while Vitinha was rested entirely. Renato Marin, 19, made just his second top-team appearance in goal, and fellow teenager Mbaye made a first start in three months. Mounguengue, an 18-year-old forward, came on in the second half as PSG were held to a draw by Lorient for the second time this season. PSG went ahead on six minutes when Lorient goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo attempted to clear a Doue cross but instead played the ball off Mbaye before it rebounded in. Pagis converted the first equaliser for Lorient, the club owned by American businessman Bill Foley, also the owner of Premier League Bournemouth. It was 2-1 to the hosts just after the hour. Zaire-Emery had just come on for Fabian Ruiz when he controlled a Doue pass for his first touch, and then fired in with the aid of a deflection. But Mounguengue cost the home side two points when his loose ball inside was pounced upon by Tosin and the Benin forward went on to score. PSG, chasing a fifth straight Ligue 1 title, hit the post late on through Senny Mayulu as they dropped points for the third time in five home Ligue 1 games. Meanwhile, Marseille’s troubled season continued with a 3-0 defeat at Nantes which is a further blow to their prospects of Champions League qualification but gives their opponents’ renewed hope of avoiding relegation. Ignatius Ganago, Remy Cabella and Matthis Abline all scored in the space of nine minutes early in the second half as Nantes claimed a first win in nine matches and just a fifth victory all season. Eight-time champions Nantes remain in the automatic relegation places with two games left but are now just two points behind Auxerre in the play-off spot before their rivals play on Sunday. Marseille are on a run of four defeats in their last six outings and have slipped to seventh below Monaco, who won 2-1 at Metz. OM are four points away from a Champions League berth with two games left, and at this rate are running the risk of not qualifying for Europe at all. “We got what we deserved,” said coach Habib Beye, who insisted he will not walk away. “When you take on a challenge like this you don’t just give up. I will never quit.” Monaco revived their own European hopes by coming from behind against Metz, with USA star Folarin Balogun scoring a ninth goal in 10 league games to equalise before Ansu Fati’s stoppage-time winner. Metz have now gone 20 league matches without winning and the result confirmed their relegation. 

Julian Alvarez’s penalty secured Atletico Madrid a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in a nervy Champions League semi-final first leg clash. Viktor Gyokeres sent the Premier League leaders ahead from the spot just before the interval after he was fouled, but Alvarez followed suit 10 minutes into the second half after Ben White’s handball. Arsenal were upset at a late penalty decision being overturned following a VAR review when David Hancko made contact with Eberechi Eze in the area. Atletico had the better for long periods but Arsenal’s solid defending helped them leave the Spanish capital in a good position to return to the Champions League final 20 years after their last appearance. “We were the team we have to be, if we play at this level we can win,” said Atletico captain Koke of his team’s second-half display. “From my point of view they didn’t create much danger against us... the team defended well and they just had that penalty.” What the game lacked in the dizzying goal rush of Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-4 win over Bayern Munich in the other semi-final the night before, it replaced with tension and a desperation not to fall behind. Toilet paper rained down from the stands of the Metropolitano stadium minutes before kick-off, in a striking – if wasteful – display, which invited cynical jokes from some quarters about the calibre of the spectacle ahead. In a tussle between arguably the continent’s two biggest teams never to lay a finger on the trophy neither wanted to blink first. Atletico still have an outdated defensive reputation but pinned Mikel Arteta’s miserly Arsenal back in the early stages, with David Raya tipping Alvarez’s shot around the post. The Gunners, a long way from Arteta’s eve-of-the-game demand they dominate proceedings, looked to smash and grab, with Marc Pubill blocking from Martin Odegaard on a quick breakaway. Noni Madueke, starting on Arsenal’s right flank with Bukayo Saka only fit for the bench, hammered just wide from distance as last year’s beaten semi-finalists sporadically emerged from their half. The next time they did, Gyokeres won a penalty. The Swedish striker, who might not have started if Kai Havertz was fit, exchanged passes with Martin Zubimendi and Hancko clumsily shoved him in the back from behind. Diego Simeone and Atletico veteran Antoine Griezmann begged for the decision to be reviewed but VAR saw no reason to intervene. Gyokeres took the spot-kick himself, walloping it past Jan Oblak, who dived the right way but stood no chance of keeping it out. Three-time runners-up Atletico, back in the semi-finals for the first time in nine years, came out guns blazing in the second half. Raya saved Ademola Lookman’s drive with Gabriel blocking Griezmann’s follow-up. The hosts pulled level from the penalty spot after White handled Marcos Llorente’s shot, the ball bouncing up and hitting his arm, which was away from his body. Alvarez took it, and having missed in Atletico’s Copa del Rey final shoot-out defeat earlier in April, this time made no mistake with an unforgiving blast rivalling Gyokeres’s first-half effort. MLS-bound Griezmann looped a shot off the crossbar and then sent the rebound off target as Atletico turned the screw in pursuit of an advantage to take into next Tuesday’s second leg. Nigeria international Lookman twice came close and could end up ruing his missed chances. 

Al Rayyan produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab 3-0 and lift the Gulf Club Champions League trophy at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. The final remained finely balanced for an hour before the match turned decisively in Al Rayyan’s favour after Al Shabab were reduced to ten men when Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco was sent off for a second booking in the 59th minute. David Garcia broke the deadlock two minutes later, while Aleksandar Mitrovic and Roger Guedes added further goals late on to seal an emphatic victory for The Lions and cap a memorable night in front of their supporters. Both teams created promising openings in a competitive first half marked by physical challenges, with Al Shabab coming closest to scoring just before the break when Hammam al-Hammami found himself one-on-one with Al Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmud Abunada, but failed to convert. Al Rayyan seized control shortly after the hour mark as Garcia rose high to meet a precise delivery from Thiago Silva on the right and powered home a well-placed header to give his side the lead. The advantage was doubled in the 79th minute when Mitrovic climbed above the defence to head in a quality corner from Rodrigo Moreno, leaving Al Shabab struggling to respond. Al Rayyan’s dominance was underlined just two minutes later as they struck again. Ahmed al-Minhali delivered a ball from the left inside the penalty area, and Mitrovic cleverly set it up for Guedes, who calmly finished to complete the scoring. The triumph marked Al Rayyan’s second trophy of the season following their QSL Cup success, and their second title since coach Vicente Moreno took charge last month. 

Al Rayyan will look to crown their impressive campaign with silverware when they take on Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab in the final of the Gulf Club Champions League Thursday at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium at 6:45pm. The Qatari side booked their place in the final with a convincing 2-0 victory over Kuwait’s Al Qadsia in the semi-final, while Al Shabab advanced after edging Iraq’s Zakho FC on penalties in the other last-four clash. Al Rayyan coach Vicente Moreno acknowledged the challenge awaiting his side but expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the decisive encounter. “The team’s preparations for the final were good, and the focus is currently on delivering the expected level in order to win and be crowned with the Gulf title,” Moreno said. “The final match will be different and requires the highest level of concentration. We must be cautious against a strong and distinguished team that includes high-level players.” Moreno added that playing at home could provide an added boost for his side. Al Rayyan enters the final with high morale, especially since the match is being held at the club’s stadium,” he said. Midfielder Julien De Sart echoed his coach’s optimism, stressing the team’s determination to deliver in front of their supporters. “The team is ready to face Al Shabab and deliver a performance that will help us win the championship title,” De Sart said. “The final match will be difficult for both teams as each side seeks victory. We invite Al Rayyan fans, as their support will motivate the players to perform at their best level.” On the other side, Al Shabab coach Noureddine Zekri expressed confidence in his team’s ability to rise to the occasion and end their long wait for silverware. “I am confident in the team’s ability to deliver a great performance in the final and win the Gulf title,” Zekri said. “Al Shabab has a great history and a historic opportunity to return to the podium after 12 years. Al Rayyan has shown outstanding levels in the tournament and will be playing at home in front of their fans.” Striker Abderrazak Hamdallah said he is fully prepared for the challenge and eager to help his team succeed. “I am fully ready for the final match and determined to win the title and return the team to the podium,” Hamdallah said. “We will enter the match with great enthusiasm and aim to please the fans by winning the title.” 

Julian Draxler is relishing the prospect of facing Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr Club after helping Qatari side Al Ahli defeat Al Hussein 3-1 on Sunday to reach the AFC Champions League Two West Zone semi-final.The playmaker created the opening goal for Erik Exposito before scoring the second directly from a corner kick. Michel Vlap added the third late on as Qatar’s Al Ahli set up a semi-final against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Tuesday.Having previously played with Schalke 04, Paris Saint-Germain as well the German national team, Draxler will be facing several Al Nassr players who he is acquainted with and expects a tough challenge. “Obviously it will be tough for us because they (Al Nassr) have a lot of big players. Most of whom I already know from my time in Europe. However, we have nothing to lose, we are in the semi-final so let’s see what we can do,” said the German.“It was a tough game (against Al Hussein) but a big step for us. We started really well but after that we had some struggles but all in all, we deserved to win. We have had a good campaign and now we are looking forward to the game against Al Nassr.”Al Hussein were left to rue a missed opportunity, having pulled themselves back into the tie through Yousef Qashi’s 21st minute equaliser, with head coach Franco da Silva not hiding his disappointment.“We are certainly not satisfied with the result, as we prepared well for this match and had high hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals,” said da Silva. “It was a difficult match, and we conceded goals from set-pieces, but our players were determined and disciplined throughout. Al Ahli deserved the win, and now we will return to the domestic league and focus on the two remaining competitions.”Meanwhile, Al Nassr’s head coach Jorge Jesus believes that his side must strive for the title after a commanding 4-0 win over Al Wasl FC in their quarter-final tie on Sunday.Fielding his strongest XI for the first time this campaign, goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Inigo Martinez, Abdulelah al-Amri and Sadio Mane kept Al Nassr in the hunt for a double with the side also leading the Saudi Pro League.“The match looked easy but the opposing team is a very good team, they are very organised,” said Jesus. “I like them, they are very tactically organised. Now, it’s 17 consecutive wins, for this I congratulate the players and the Al Nassr fans for the victory. This competition is very important to us. Al Nassr has never won this competition, no Saudi team has ever won this competition, so we took it seriously from the start. We could have been better in some areas today but everyone played to the best they could.”There was disappointment for Rui Vitoria and his Al Wasl team after a slow start saw them having too much to chase with Al Nassr 3-0 up after just 26 minutes. The 56-year-old was able to galvanise his Emirati side into an improved second half performance but it wasn’t enough to prevent them from exiting the competition.“The game was not what we expected, result wise,” said Vitoria. “We didn’t start well and weren’t aggressive in the first half. We let them play and their quality up front made it difficult for us. We changed in the second half and played with a different attitude and had more balance in the game. We had our opportunities but didn’t capitalise.” 

Defending champions Al Ahli struck twice in eight second-half minutes to come from behind to defeat Japan’s Vissel Kobe 2-1 and seal their place in a second successive Asian Champions League Elite final. Brazil winger Galeno cancelled out Yoshinori Muto’s first-half opener before Ivan Toney completed the comeback in front of 44,716 people at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. Kobe, winners of the J1 League title in 2023 and 2024, took the lead on the half hour, when the Al Ahli defence were caught napping at a free-kick. Beating the Saudi side’s high line, an unmarked Yuya Osako headed the ball across the Ahli penalty area to Muto, who slotted home past former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. In first-half stoppage-time, Rayan Hamed headed a Galeno free-kick onto the Kobe upright before Toney dragged a shot wide. Ahli, who 12 months ago defeated Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale in the final to capture a first continental crown, spurned another golden opportunity at the start of the second half when Brazil international Roger Ibanez headed across goal when free. At the other end, Daiju Sasaki struck the Ahli crossbar. However, Ahli levelled on 62 minutes. Galeno, scorer of a spectacular winner in the quarter-final win against Malaysia’s Johor Darul Ta’zim, struck another superb effort from range that flew high into the Kobe goal. Ahli edged ahead eight minutes later, Toney making the most of goalkeeper Daiya Maekawa’s failure to deal with a cross by side-footing home from the angle. The Englishman, the current top scorer in the Saudi Pro League, climbed to two goals for the tournament. Ahli were then denied a third through Riyad Mahrez, with the former Manchester City star’s 75th-minute finish ruled out for offside following a VAR review. But it mattered little as Ahli held on for the victory. They will now face either Japan’s Machida Zelvia or 2015 runners-up Shabab Al Ahli of the UAE, who meet in the other semi-final Tuesday. The final takes place on Saturday at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. For the second year running, Jeddah is staging the eight-team centralised finals series of the continent’s premier football competition, rebranded last year as the Asian Champions League Elite. 

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said Tuesday he was unsure if midfield metronome Vitinha would be fit to play against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals.The Portuguese central midfielder will miss PSG's Ligue 1 clash against Nantes on Wednesday due to a heel inflammation."We'll take a calm and measured approach to see how the injured players can make a comeback. But I don't know," he told reporters when asked if Vitinha would be back in time for next Tuesday's semi-final first leg at the Parc des Princes."We need to manage Vitinha's minor injury; some players are a bit tired or have a few niggles," the Spaniard also told PSGTV.Should the 26-year-old be unavailable, his place at the heart of the PSG midfield could be filled by the returning Fabian Ruiz.Alongside Vitinha and Joao Neves, Ruiz formed the midfield trio that anchored much of PSG's success last season as they won a maiden Champions League title and lifted the Ligue 1 trophy.The Spaniard returned for the final 18 minutes of PSG's 2-1 league loss at home to Lyon last weekend as he continues his comeback from a knee injury.Luis Enrique cooled expectations on the 30-year-old, however, as he said Ruiz would need "time to regain fitness" after spending three months on the sidelines."Fabian Ruiz needs more matches and minutes to recover," Luis Enrique insisted, before adding he was nonetheless "happy" with his return against Lyon.The former Barcelona and Spain coach warned that even as PSG close in on a repeat of their double-winning season this term, he still demands "more" from all his charges.Exciting Senegalese 18-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye was not included in the squad for Sunday's defeat to Lyon, with Luis Enrique explaining: "Every minute you get to play for PSG must be special."I have no regrets about Mbaye, but you have to be ready. He was ready, but I expect much more from all the players."Victory in the French capital against Nantes on Wednesday would send PSG three points clear of surprise Ligue 1 title challengers Lens with five matches remaining in the campaign. 

A classic is on the cards when Qatar’s Al Ahli take on Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr in the AFC Champions League Two West Zone semi-final today at Al Wasl Stadium in Dubai.Al Ahli booked their place in the last four with a convincing 3-1 victory over Jordan’s Al Hussein in the quarter-finals, while Al Nassr – captained by Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo – advanced in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 win against the UAE’s Al Wasl.Although Al Ahli did not progress with a perfect record, they reached the semi-finals unbeaten and, with continental glory now just two matches away, the Doha-based side will be determined to rise to the occasion.Success has long eluded Al Ahli on the continental stage, but after overcoming several quality opponents en route to the semi-finals, they will believe they have what it takes to advance at the expense of a star-studded Al Nassr side, with Japan’s Gamba Osaka waiting in the final.Al Ahli coach Younes Ali expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the challenge ahead. "We are fully prepared to face Al Nassr," he said. "We are looking to deliver a strong performance against a formidable opponent like Al Nassr, a team that has many well-known names in world football. But we also have high ambitions to make a significant impact."Ali noted that the victory over Al Hussein provided a major boost to team morale. "The team received a big morale boost after our quarter-final win, and all the players are eager to maintain their strong form in tomorrow’s match," he said. "Our strikers showed high technical ability in the previous game. They created many chances and faced a goalkeeper who made several saves. I believe we will be more clinical against Al Nassr."He added that his side must remain patient in what is expected to be a tightly contested encounter. "Tomorrow’s match will be difficult and different from the previous one, given the strength of the opponent and the quality of their players. I expect few scoring chances, but we will be ready for the challenge."Al Ahli goalkeeper Marwan Sherif also emphasised the team’s determination to extend their impressive run in the competition."We look forward to continuing the team’s outstanding run in the tournament," he said. "We have gone nine matches unbeaten since the start of the tournament, and we will give everything to maintain this momentum in tomorrow’s game. The match will not be easy, but we are aware of the responsibility on us. We will exert every effort against Al Nassr to achieve the desired result and continue our journey in the best possible way."Al Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus, meanwhile, is equally determined to guide his side to continental success, stating his ambition to make history by becoming the first Saudi Arabian club to lift the AFC Champions League Two title."Our goal in tomorrow’s semi-final against Al Ahli is to win and qualify for the final," Jesus said. "We have great respect for Al Ahli. The team includes well-known professionals who have played for major European clubs, and they deserve to reach this stage. I expect a difficult match. Semi-final games cannot be predicted in advance."After rotating his squad in the earlier rounds, Jesus fielded his strongest lineup in the quarter-final against Al Wasl, a move that paid dividends as the Saudi side delivered a dominant performance. Al Nassr have been in scintillating form throughout the tournament, advancing to the semi-finals with a perfect record of nine wins, and will be confident of maintaining that momentum as they chase the coveted title. 

Adrien Rabiot boosted AC Milan’s bid to return to the Champions League with the only goal in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Verona, which moved his team back up to second in Serie A. France midfielder Rabiot swept home the only goal in the 41st minute at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi to give Milan an eight-point cushion on Como and Roma in fifth and sixth. The 31-year-old calmly netted his sixth league goal of the season after snatching possession in midfield and exchanging passes with Rafael Leao, for the only real highlight of a largely drab encounter. “The important thing is winning and getting the points we need to achieve our objectives, but we made a lot of mistakes today. We could have played a lot better,” said Rabiot. “We need to stay focussed on qualifying for the Champions League.” Milan took advantage of Como falling to a surprise defeat at Sassuolo on Friday and Roma drawing with Atalanta on Saturday night, and with five matches remaining in the season, the Rossoneri are all-but sure of a top four finish. The seven-time European champions have had no continental football this season after a disastrous previous campaign which led to Massimiliano Allegri retaking the reins as coach last summer. Allegri said on Friday that he has already started planning for next season with Milan’s management, and after Saturday’s win the 58-year-old again ruled himself out of the vacant Italy job. “No-one has contacted me (from the Italian Football Federation), and all my thoughts are on Milan: we’ve started something together and we’ll continue it together,” said Allegri. Verona’s fifth straight defeat means almost certain relegation, as Paolo Sammarco’s team are bottom of the division and 10 points behind Cremonese, who sit just outside the drop zone and drew 0-0 at Torino in the day’s early fixture. Juventus sit in the final Champions League spot and can move five points ahead of Como and Roma with a home win over Bologna. 

Al Rayyan booked their place in the final of the Gulf Champions League for Clubs after defeating Kuwait’s Al Qadsia 2-0 at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in the semi-final Sunday. Goals from Roger Guedes in the 17th minute and Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 50th sealed a deserved victory as Al Rayyan produced a controlled and confident performance to advance to the title decider. Al Rayyan asserted their dominance early through high pressing and sustained attacking pressure, opening the scoring when Abdulaziz Hatem delivered a precise pass to Guedes, who drove into the penalty area before unleashing a powerful shot into the net. The home side continued to threaten and created several chances, but the first half ended with Al Rayyan holding a narrow one-goal advantage. After the break, Al Rayyan maintained their momentum and doubled their lead from a corner taken by Khalid Ali. The ball rebounded off the goalkeeper and Mitrovic reacted quickest to finish from close range in the 50th minute. Al Rayyan then managed the game effectively, preserving their lead for the remainder of the match to secure progression to the final. They will now face Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab, who advanced to the final after defeating Iraq’s Zakho SC 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time in the other semi-final at Khalifa International Stadium.
