The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strongly condemned the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait using ballistic missiles and drones.In a statement issued on Sunday, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi said that these treacherous attacks constitute a direct threat to the security, stability, and safety of citizens and residents in Bahrain and Kuwait, and a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter. He noted that these attacks undermine international and regional efforts aimed at establishing security and peace and resolving the crisis.The GCC affirmed its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait to strengthen their security, safeguard their sovereignty, and preserve the integrity of their territories.

The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attack against its territory, targeting it once again with ballistic missiles and drones.In a statement issued Sunday, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered this renewed attack a dangerous escalation, revealing that Tehran's actions are not isolated incidents or random acts, but rather a deliberate and systematic pattern of repeated aggression against the Kingdom's sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents.The Ministry stressed that Tehran's continued defiance of international will required a firm response, calling on the UN Security Council to convene an urgent session and fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of Resolution 2817 (2026), putting an end to this ongoing aggression, and holding those responsible accountable.The statement affirmed Bahrain's full and legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, as guaranteed by international law, holding the Iranian regime fully responsible for any escalation resulting from its continued attacks.

The NIARC Qatar Chapter warmly welcomed the patron of the NIARC Bahrain Chapter, Abdurahman Aseel, who arrived in Doha for a short visit. A special reception was organised in his honour at Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha.The gathering was attended by NIARC Global Chairman Ashraf KP (managing director, WellCare Pharmacy), NIARC Qatar Chapter chairman Shanahas Edodi, Global vice chairman Hameed MT, and Qatar Chapter general secretary Jafar Munafar. Chapter officials, including Rasik KV, Jaffar Kataloor, and Muneer MK also participated in the event. During the meeting, NIARC leadership members held discussions on the organisation’s upcoming programmes, membership drive, and future initiatives aimed at strengthening the chapter’s mission, enhancing member engagement, and expanding its outreach activities.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and his Bahraini counterpart, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani discussed regional developments today in a phone call today. The two ministers emphasized the importance of concerted efforts and enhanced coordination to maintain regional security and stability.At the beginning of the call, the Saudi Foreign Minister condemned the Iranian blatant attacks on Bahrain, affirming his country's full support and solidarity with Bahrain and its backing for all measures taken by Bahrain to protect its security, territorial integrity, and citizens. 

In line with the Third Financial Sector Strategy and as part of Qatar Central Banks ongoing efforts to develop digital payment systems and services, and to strengthen cooperation among the GCC countries, Qatar Central Bank announces the acceptance of the national payment card "HIMYAN" in the Kingdom of Bahrain.With this expansion, "HIMYAN" cardholders can now conduct purchase and cash withdrawal transactions through various points of sale and ATMs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in accordance with the highest standards of security and protection.In addition, "HIMYAN cardholders can also use the card in the State of Kuwait, following Qatar Central Bank's announcement on 18 December 2025 regarding the acceptance of the national payment card "HIMYAN" in Kuwait.This expansion comes as part of Qatar Central Banks commitment to enhancing regional integration in the field of payment systems and expanding the use of national payment solutions across the GCC countries."HIMYAN" is considered the first national payment card under a Qatari brand launched by Qatar Central Bank as part of its continuous efforts to enhance and develop digital payment systems in support of innovation and digital transformation within the financial sector in the State of Qatar, through the provision of secure and effective local payment solutions. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed regional developments with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in a phone call on Wednesday.During the call, both ministers strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain with missiles and drones.Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed that the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain is an integral part of the security of the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

A Bahraini court sentenced nine defendants to life in prison and two others to three years in jail for collaborating with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to carry out what it described as “hostile and terrorist acts” against Bahrain, the state news agency reported yesterday. The defendants were involved in gathering information on sensitive sites and facilitating related financial transfers, the statement said. Bahrain’s interior ministry said on May 9 that it had arrested 41 people it said were linked to the IRGC. The ministry said security authorities had uncovered a group tied to the IRGC while public prosecutor investigations also involved cases related to sympathy with Iranian attacks. Iran launched attacks on targets in Bahrain and other Gulf Arab states hosting US military bases after the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28. 

Foulath Holding, an industrial group specializing in iron and steel and the parent company of Bahrain Steel and SULB, declared force majeure regarding certain Group operations as a result of the ongoing regional developments in the Middle East and the associated security and logistical challenges.The company said in a statement that the rapidly evolving situation in the region, including airspace restrictions, disruption to certain maritime routes, and heightened security risks, has created circumstances beyond the Group’s control and has impacted operations and supply chains across parts of the Group’s activities.It added that, as a precautionary measure and in the interest of the safety of employees, contractors, and all relevant stakeholders, a decision has been taken to temporarily suspend certain operational activities until conditions allow for the safe resumption of operations.

Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia X on ‌Wednesday unveiled plans ⁠to resume flights from ‌Kuala Lumpur to London via a ‌new hub in Bahrain, using the extended range of narrow-body jets to stitch fresh ⁠routes alongside established carriers.The service, due to start in June, would make Bahrain AirAsia X's first hub outside Asia, placing it within reach of busy markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe.It also marks a return to the British capital more than a decade after the airline suspended non-stop flights from Kuala Lumpur and retired its Airbus A340 jets.Co-founder Tony Fernandes ​said Bahrain could become a regional gateway for underserved secondary cities across Asia, Africa and Europe."While ... of course London is a very emotional destination for many people in Southeast Asia, the ‌real aim is to have ⁠a bunch of A321s flying ​maybe 15 times a day to Bahrain," he told Reuters in ​an interview."From Bahrain, you connect to Africa and Europe with a big emphasis on creating connectivity that doesn't exist."The move follows Asia's largest low-cost carrier completing its acquisition of the short-haul aviation business from parent Capital A, bringing the group's seven airlines under one umbrella.Fernandes, also CEO of Capital A, stressed the importance of the Airbus A321XLR, an extra-long-range narrow-body aircraft he said would let the airline replicate its Asian low-cost model on intercontinental routes."That aircraft enables me to start thinking we can do what we did in Asia to ‌Europe and Africa," he said, ‌citing potential secondary routes such as ⁠Penang to Cologne or Prague.AirAsia plans to redeploy its larger A330s to longer ⁠routes while building up the Bahrain ⁠hub, with possible African destinations including the Maghreb region, Egypt, Morocco, Tanzania and Kenya. A Bangkok-to-Europe route is also under consideration.Fernandes played down direct competition with Gulf carriers, positioning AirAsia X as a budget option aimed at a different market."I'm all about stimulating a new market," he said. "We've got into our little ​playground (of) 3bn people, most of them have not been to Europe."Analysts say taking on Gulf carriers on overlapping routes may be difficult.Fernandes pointed to AirAsia's services to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan as examples of drawing Southeast Asian travellers to new destinations. "When I look at my social media, you see all these Malaysians and Thais who are seeing snow for the first time."AirAsia X's Kuala Lumpur-Istanbul route, launched in November, has been a test case for the Bahrain strategy, and Fernandes said the airline aimed ‌to lift frequency ​from daily to twice daily soon.
