Hopes of survival of a four-year-old girl were fading yesterday more than 60 hours after she fell into a 70ft deep borewell in a Haryana village, officials said.

Rescue workers dig a tunnel in a bid to reach and bring out four-year-old Mahi (below) who fell into a borewell in a village in Haryana
Army soldiers and police were racing against time to rescue Mahi, they said.
Rescue teams had no idea how deep she has fallen.
Army engineers from Delhi and National Security Guard commandos, who are based in Manesar, were trying to rescue the child. The accident drew nationwide attention after wide coverage on TV.
According to Chief Medical Officer Praveen Garg, oxygen was being supplied through a pipe to Mahi, although there was no word about her condition.
The incident came six years after a similar case of five- year-old boy Prince, who was rescued 50 hours after falling into a 60ft feet pit near Kurukshetra in Haryana, an event that was followed live on national television.
Modern technology was deployed on Friday evening to locate her exact position, an official said.
“On Friday evening, experts with Ground Penetrating Radar System (GPRS) were called to assist the rescue team. It is a technology that provides critical information on potential obstructions within existing underground structures with three-dimensional images,” said a senior officer who was part of the rescue team.
Earlier, engineers dug parallel pit in a bid to reach Mahi.
The gap between both the bores is about 8ft. While digging the tunnel to reach the child, they encountered a large piece of stone due to which the rescue team missed the goal on Friday.
Another tunnel was dug yesterday, but the rescue team was facing the same problem. However, this time instead of cutting the stones by hands they were using hand cutter drill machine, another official said.
