Former telecom minister A Raja, a key accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case, arrived in Chennai yesterday evening to a tumultuous welcome by his supporters. This is Raja’s first visit home in over 15 months. The former minister was arrested on February 1, 2011, and released on bail May 15. Hundreds of DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) workers gathered at Chennai airport and milled around Raja as soon as he alighted. They greeted him with slogans and much cheering. The court had allowed Raja to travel to Tamil Nadu.
