
On this occasion, Mohamed Arqoub al-Khaldi, chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, said: “The Ras Bu Abboud Beach project (Beach 974) is considered a new achievement as part of the committee’s plan to provide various tourist attractions and activities across Qatar, in addition to enhancing the diversity of activities that can be practised by individuals families and tourists in Qatar.”
"The project’s distinct location adds to its importance, as it is located near Stadium 974, one of the venues of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” he said. “It offers a beach for swimming with the necessary facilities, restaurants and areas for sports activities for all tourists and fans during the tournament, in addition to providing a unique view of the West Bay skyline on the opposite side.”

Mohamed Abdulla al-Mulla, executive director of the Old Port of Doha at the SC, said: “We are pleased to co-operate with the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the Qatar in implementing the Ras Bu Abboud Beach Development (Beach 974) Project, which serves residents and guests, and provides them with a new entertainment destination in one of the most vital areas in the country, as it is located near a number of new and distinctive tourist destinations.”
"The beach has a unique design, as some of its elements have been derived from recyclable materials, which contributes to preserving and sustaining the environment,” he said.

Jasmine al-Sheikh, project design manager at the committee, said that the Ras Bu Abboud Beach Development Project (Beach 974) aims to transform the beach into a tourist and family destination.
This is especially since the beach is located in an area that qualifies it to be one of the main tourist attractions in Qatar.
This project will allow visitors to enjoy a variety of beach and sports activities such as swimming, cycling, walking and relaxation, as well as having a meal, all at the same place.

She added that the project has been implemented on an area of 260,000sq m and a length of 2.6km, with a beach length of 1.5km, to serve all of Qatar's citizens, residents and visitors.
The project has been designed to provide a suitable and healthy environment, with more than 15,000sq m of green areas and approximately 512 trees.
The project includes a designated area for sports activities, and pedestrian and cycling paths with a length of 2.6km, in addition to 36 bike racks.

Buildings and service kiosks are located in separate areas, including restaurants, cafes, toilets, in addition to seating areas, umbrellas and showers to serve visitors.
To enhance safety on the beach, in particular at night, a hi-tech lighting network has been implemented, including surveillance cameras and wi-fi devices.
There are 255 parking lots, including spaces for people with special needs, with slopes and paths that lead directly to the pedestrian and cycle paths.

The project covered the construction and development of infrastructure services, such as potable, irrigation and electricity networks, surveillance cameras and a network to provide wi-fi services.
The second package of the project encompasses the construction and development of a 600m-long road leading to the beach and Stadium 974, and the establishment of a 1.9km shared path linking the beach to Corniche on the side of Ras Bu Abboud Road.
