The Ministry of Labour has acknowledged the report of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and stressed the continuation of technical co-operation with ILO and the implementation of further programs and activities during the forthcoming period.
Highlights of ILO report:
1. A tribute to Qatar’s Labour reforms, stressing their continuity and sustainability.
2. Shedding light on the most important achievement, reforms and the development of the legislative environment.
3. Reviewing updates to work environment laws, decision of the Ministry of Labour and implementation mechanisms.
Figures and Statistics:
1. 86% of workers responded that Labour reforms have positively affected them, according to the organisation’s survey.
2. 98% of workers confirm receiving their salaries on time, according to the organisation’s survey.
3. 280,000 workers whose basic wages have been increased in implementation of the non-discriminatory minimum wage.
4. 67, 128 companies registered in the WPS by the end of August 2022.
5. 23, 384 inspection visits to work sites and workplaces by the Labour Inspection Department.
Report findings and facts:
1. Commending the experience of dialogue and co-operation during the preparation of the World Cup with the Ministry of Labour, FIFA and football federations.
2. Establishing a national system for reporting accidents and injuries that will be fully operational by the middle of next year.
3. Strong partnership with MoL, ILO and global unions and associations.
4. Launching a digital co-operation partnership platform between ILO and the Ministry of Labour to share decent work solutions in least developed countries and elsewhere
5. Field visits carried out by African and Asian trade unions to Qatar.
6. Lauding the efforts to raise the capabilities of workers in various sectors especially the hospitality and hotel sector.
