With just 29 days to go for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, football frenzy is gripping the country – extremely eager to welcome players and a huge number of fans from across the globe.
A rising level of enthusiasm continues to engulf the host nation, with giant digital images of football players on high-rise buildings, and displaying all the 32 flags of participating countries, at West Bay and in other locations.

World Cup-themed attractions across Qatar, especially at the Doha Corniche, showcase an array of colourful decorations representing the competing teams, delighting commuters and passersby.
Several large installations along the stretch, including the countdown clock of the prestigious tournament and the Flag Plaza, have been attracting many residents and visitors.

Located near the Museum of Islamic Art Park, the Flag Plaza recently hosted a series of cultural performances throughout the Community Days Festival.
It now serves as a new community space – initiated by Qatar Museums’ Years of Culture programme.
The attractions and decorations also paint a picturesque view of both the Doha Corniche and the Doha skyline, adding more charm to this frequently visited location.

Indian expatriate Rushabh S, who often visits the Doha Corniche in the afternoon and the weekend with his family, said he is excited to watch not only the matches but also the exhibitions, cultural performances, and entertainment shows, as well as other side events, during the tournament.
“We are too excited and we are also happy to see all these buzzes, it gives us a glimpse of the World Cup in Qatar,” he said. “We hope to see some of our favourite players like Messi in person, wish me luck.”

Filipino expatriate and long-time resident Elpidio D, who is also a frequent Doha metro user, shared a similar view saying football fever and excitement can be felt while riding the train.
“Just seeing the digital ads about the tournament inside the train and the banners mounted on a number of buildings at West Bay fascinates me and other metro passengers while going to work,” he said.
