HE the Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem inaugurated on Sunday the Centre for Endowment Studies at the General Administration of Endowments.

During the inauguration ceremony, attended by officials from Niger, HE the Minister expressed his aspiration for the centre to be a pioneer in endowment studies globally.
HE the Director-General of the General Administration of Endowments, Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Thani, explained that the inauguration of the centre coincides with the progress made by the Qatari endowments at the legal, endowment electronic systems and other levels.
The centre's work will be based on a number of tracks that contribute to enhancing the endowment culture inside and outside Qatar, such as the printing of verified books and scientific theses, the establishment of the International Research Award, the publication of the Endowment Scout, the largest database on endowments, the establishment of the refereed journal to publish research and discreet studies, and the establishment of specialised seminars and courses, and other projects, programmes and various knowledge paths.
The Director General of the High Authority for Waqf in Niger, Khadidjah Diallo, praised the Qatari experience in managing endowment projects and charitable work in general.
She noted that her current visit to Qatar enabled her to draw inspiration from the Qatari experience in this field, and allowed her to interview the projects' stakeholders in the country.
She said that she was impressed by what she saw, and took many ideas during her current visit to Qatar, which will undoubtedly enhance her country's experience in the field of endowment management.
She stressed that institutional and technical co-operation with the General Administration of Endowments will allow the revival of the endowment and the promotion of endowment projects in her country, which will be done through research and studies that will be carried out by the new centre in Qatar.
The General Administration of Endowments is the authority concerned with supervising endowments in the country. One of its tasks is to introduce the endowment and its provisions, spread its culture, manage and invest endowment funds, and disburse them on an economic basis in accordance with Sharia regulations to develop, maintain and spend it according to the conditions of the endowers.
