HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani Sunday lauched the security force's official uniform for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 during a ceremony at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) building.
HE the Prime Minister witnessed a visual presentation on the uniforms for the World Cup security force as well as the locations, protection missions and security roles of each unit. Additionally, he witnessed the inauguration of the mechanisms, vehicles and motorcycles to be used in the tournament.
Members of the Safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC) of the World Cup 2022 and a number of senior officials and security leaders attended the inauguration ceremony.
The SSOC said the new uniform, vehicles and mechanism approved for the championship's security force involved strenuous efforts spanning two years.
President of the SSOC's Training and Rehabilitation Unit, Lt-Col Fahad al-Subaie, told QNA that a committee was formed to produce an exceptional and unprecedented uniform.
The committee did its best to prepare creative uniform, vehicles and motorcycles that will attract fans and simultaneously preserve the security identity and character, he said.
He added that the fabrics used for manufacturing the uniform were tested to be comfortable for security personnel and appropriate for the weather during the tournament.
The committee was keen to form a special team work for the World Cup's security force, he added.
Al-Subaie expressed hope that the approved uniform would be patented worldwide as closely related to the police forces in Qatar. He also noted the prolonged scrutiny and study of the aspects appropriate for the championship's security and the main colours selected for the uniform, with red indicating high alert and blue tranquility.
The official added that the uniform could be used and adopted for all activities and championships after the World Cup, stressing that there would be intensified campaigns to promote the uniform among fans.
