Preparations are in full swing at the Corniche, Souq Waqif and Al Bidda Park where artistic performances, concerts and live football screening will be held during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The three places have been undergoing a major revamp with work now underway to install big television screens that will display live matches. Also, the area has witnessed erection of sculptures including those at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) park.

During the World Cup, the Corniche will have a carnival atmosphere along its 6km route, stretching from the Sheraton Grand Doha to the Museum of Islamic Art Park. It will feature roving performances, cultural activities, food and beverage stalls, and retail outlets.
It’s expected that the Doha Corniche will host more than 120,000 fans a day while featuring various celebrations and live match broadcasts during the tournament, according to a report by local Arabic daily Arrayah. There will be musical and cultural performances from 10 am while visitors can go on boating and heritage walks to explore Doha. Visitors and fans can reach Souq Waqif and Corniche Street by using Souq Waqif, Corniche, West Bay and Al Bidda Park metro stations.

The report said that the largest fan zone is taking shape at Al Bidda Park where a number of famous Qatari and international artists will perform while the food courts here will feature the rich local and international cuisine. Also, there will be programmes that will be attended by football legends from across the world. The fan zone here will be opened on November 20 and will have the capacity to host up to 40,000 visitors. The interactive platforms here will allow fans of all ages to participate in various live and electronic football games and innovative entertainment activities.
