A large number of people attended the funeral prayers of Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi at the Mohammed bin Abdul Wahab Mosque on Tuesday. Among them were a number of officials and dignitaries. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) died in Doha on Monday at the age of 96. Later yesterday he was buried at the Mesaimeer cemetery on the outskirts of the Qatari capital. IUMS secretary-general Dr Ali Mohieddin al-Qaradaghi described al-Qaradawi as a cheerful, generous and kind person, praising his struggle and efforts in the service of Islam and Muslims. Among the attendees were Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Meshaal.
