The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) yesterday said it rounded off a number of volumes as part of the Qatar bilingual cultural encyclopaedia project. The completed volumes included seven volumes of the everyday vocabulary dictionary and the first volume of the dictionary of places.
The bilingual encyclopaedia is due to consist of several dictionaries of everyday vocabulary, places, local expressions and proverbs.
General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), Prof Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, said the encyclopaedia is highly significant to educate on Qatar and its tourist, cultural and heritage attractions.
The project supervisor, Khalid Abdulrahim al-Sayed, hailed the first volume of the dictionary of places as a key base in the encyclopaedia to link places with their ancient Arab history.
The project team comprises Qatar University professors of linguistics and literature within the framework of scientific co-operation between Qatar University and Katara. (QNA)
