Scale7, the first fashion and design business incubator in Qatar founded by Qatar Development Bank (QDB), in partnership with M7, has successfully conducted a four-day intensive Abaya Bootcamp.
The programme was hosted between September 25 and 29, targeting designers with businesses at nascent stages. The intensive course, comprising 15 participants, covered topics, such as the abaya business; design fundamentals; fabrics, textiles, tailoring techniques; branding; and marketing, among others.
To empower these talented startups, a ‘Business to Business’ talk was also organised alongside the event to let participants gain first-hand experience from experts.
On the successful hosting of the bootcamp, Aysha Khalifa al-Romaihi, project manager of Scale7, said: “Since its inception, Scale7 has been scaling newer paradigms of growth and innovation for talented Qatari entrepreneurs. Every time we bring out a new programme or an initiative, the enthusiasm of the Qatari fashion fraternity leaves us enthralled to go beyond the conventional and offer them something even more unique in terms of expanding their horizons.”
She added: “This intensive Abaya Bootcamp was one such initiative that has offered these talented Qataris to learn the tricks of the trade as they take the next step in their business. Looking at such an incredible response, we have many more such incredible opportunities in the offing that will not only enable them to start their business but will also prepare them to showcase their innovative offerings on the global map.”
The Abaya Bootcamp is one of the activities carried out by Scale7 to enhance the role of creative entrepreneurs and aspiring Qatari designers in creating and producing Qatari brands in the field of fashion and design.
The upcoming editions of the bootcamp will be announced through http://scale7.qa/ and Scale7’s social media channels.
