The new feature will allow Hayya Card holders to invite up to three non-ticketed guests, such as relatives or friends, to enter Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
“All procedures related to the service such as the categories that can apply for the scheme, how to apply and the mechanism involved will be announced soon,” Saeed Ali al-Kuwari, executive director of the Hayya platform at SC, told Al Kass Channel during a discussion.
He explained that applications will have to be submitted be via the Hayya platform. Invitees will receive an email with a voucher to be used as an alternative to the ticket.
Non-ticket holders registered on the Hayya platform who are aged 12 years and above have to pay a fee of QR500 through the Hayya application before entering Qatar. Those under 12 years of age are exempted from payment of the fee.
Meanwhile, SC has recorded 450,000 applications for the Hayya Card, the official said, adding that 200,000 printed cards have been distributed among applicants. “We are currently providing a home delivery service through which we are distributing the printed cards to applicants both within and outside Qatar. This has evoked a positive response as fans around the world have expressed enthusiasm to receive the card because they have now become part of this international event,” al-Kuwari said.
Saudi Arabia has topped the list of applicants followed by the US, the UK and Mexico.
The official said those who have registered for the Hayya Card or those who are still in the registration stage can request for the card by mail. He added that the digital card is sufficient to attend World Cup matches, while asking fans to complete the relevant procedures on time if they want the physical card.
