HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani participated in the ministerial meeting between GCC foreign ministers and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
HE Sheikh Mohamed said the meeting provides an opportunity to exchange views on political, regional, and international issues to reach a shared vision that works to achieve the interests and objectives of both parties. He expressed Qatar's sincere desire to develop and strengthen Gulf-European relations and diversify their fields through the establishment of strategic partnership relations between the GCC and the EU, in accordance with the joint work program for 2022-2027, which was approved in Brussels during the 26th session of the Joint Ministerial Council.
HE Sheikh Mohamed added that the aspects of co-operation between the GCC and the EU are numerous with common goals and challenges, looking forward to the continuity and sustainability of these meetings to achieve them. He expressed Qatar's welcome in November to the qualified teams and the EU fans, considering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament an opportunity to meet people from all over the world.
