Qatar recently hosted the 7th meeting of the 2022 World Cup Task Force for Air Navigation Service Providers in the Middle East. The meeting, which was held from September 21-22, was hosted by Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) and under the supervision of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
It was attended by 62 participants including representatives from 10 countries of the Middle East region (Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Yemen), in addition to representatives from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Federation of the Air Traffic Controllers Association (IFATCA).
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the latest preparations and measures that will be taken to accommodate the excessive air traffic expected throughout Qatar's hosting of the World Cup, in addition to ways of co-ordination to manage air traffic flow during the tournament in co-operation with countries of the Middle East, IATA, air navigation service providers, and airspace users in the area.
