During the ceremony, the Qatar Camel Mzayen Club inaugurated the verbal slogan “Desert Dhows” accompanying the Mzayen World Cup, as the slogan was derived from the symbolism of camels in Qatari history. The Arabs called the camels an expressive description of desert dhows for their ability to cross deserts, and their sand dunes that resemble the waves of the seas and the ability of ships to ride and cross them.
Just as the ships of the seas brought goods to the people of Qatar, the ships of the deserts, the “camels” at the time transported what the ships brought when they docked in the ports to all markets throughout the country.
The Director of Public Relations and Communications Department at Qatar Camel Mzayen Club Mohamed bin Salaan al-Marri explained that the club looks forward through the organisation of the Mzayen World Cup to participate in achieving the goals of our beloved country Qatar in hosting the FIFA World Cup, and by highlighting Qatar’s distinctive identity, and introducing our sports, civilisation, customs and traditions to the people and fans coming to attend the World Cup.

Al-Marri explained that the symbolism of the visual identity of the Mzayen World Cup lies in its design, with the aim of integrating camel head as a symbol of the local culture of Qataris, and pride in a sport rooted in their customs, traditions and history with football, and its depiction in the logo in the form of planet earth as a symbol of the most famous world sport among humans.
In the ball, the Arab Al Sadu was used in a contemporary style that reflects the aesthetic of Bedouin Arab decoration expressing Qatar in particular and the Gulf and Arab region, in general.
“Huwier” was revealed as the mascot of the Mzayen World Cup. The word “Huwier” is a diminutive version of Hawar, which is a small camel, and this name is common in Qatar and the Arabian Gulf region.
“Huwier” happily wears the Qatari costume and practices the sport of football and while accompanying us to the Mzayen World Cup, will encourage our Qatari national team throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Mohamed bin Salaan explained that the World Cup will witness a number of accompanying events, most notably the first-of-its-kind camel museum, which will include all camel supplies, images that reflect the relationship of camels with Qatari society, as well as riding shows, milking competition and the Qatari Ardha.
Furthermore, the Director of Public Relations and Communications stressed that participation in the Mzayen World Cup will be reserved only for the top ten camels in all rounds of the first edition of the Qatar Camel Festival 2022.
He pointed out that one of the winning camels in “Al Marsas” rounds will be allowed to participate, in addition to the participation of one ride from each camel winner of the Qatar Camel Festival 2022.
He explained that the competitions will witness 15 rounds that will be held in the morning over nine days and distributed among the categories of Al Mughatir, Al Asayel and Al Mujaheem, with three runs for each category, provided that the participation of camels from “haqiq” to “gel” are also held.
He announced that the value of the material prizes for the Mzayen World Cup is more than QR10mn, adding the prizes consist of 15 gold cups, 15 silver cups, 15 bronze cups, 15 gold decorations, 15 silver decorations and 15 bronze decorations, allocated to the winners of the top three places for all runs and categories.
