The US Department of State praised the important role played by Qatar and Egypt in establishing peace, and welcomed the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Doha.
In a statement on Thursday, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said: "When it comes to the visit of President Sisi to Qatar, we welcome the visit and the recent meeting with His Highness the Amir."
He stressed that both Egypt and Qatar are essential partners of the United Sates, and the two are playing an active role in facilitating peace in the region.
The spokesperson expressed the US' support for closer ties between Qatar and Egypt, adding: "We support close diplomatic, economic and people-to-people ties between the two countries."
