S’hail 2022 - The Katara International Hunting & Falcons Exhibition – concluded Saturday with "resounding success and by confirming its leadership status" after six consecutive days of action hosted by Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation on its Wisdom Square premises, the organisers said in a statement.
The sixth edition of the distinct exhibition specialising in falcons, falconry products, modern hunting gadgets, hunting-related weapons, modified vehicles and caravans, accessories and camping supplies saw the participation of 180 major companies from all over the world amid an increasing demand from hunting and falconry enthusiasts.






S'hail 2022 was also marked by the distinguished presence of Gulf companies from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, with nearly 40 firms specialising in weapons, rifles, hunting supplies and hunting trips.
The event was also graced by the visits of a number of dignitaries, including ambassadors accredited to Qatar, ministers and sheikhs.
Salem Mabkhout al-Marri, director of the Katara Public Relations Department and member of the Executive Committee of the S’hail Organising Committee, applauded the grand success of the exhibition's sixth edition.






He stressed that S’hail 2022 was distinct with its diverse cultural activities, especially the falcon auction - one of the most attractive events for falconers, hunting enthusiasts and the public. The highest winning bid this year was of QR911,000.
On the final day, S’hail 2022 witnessed a large presence of visitors from within and outside Qatar. The visitors were keen to witness the products and service on offer at the event and take a look the latest, state-of-the-art developments in the field of falconry, hunting and hunting-related weapons and camping trips, in addition to attending cultural programmes and various heritage activities.






The event included lectures and seminars on the preservation of falcons and the environment, care of falcons and their breeding, as well a poetry evening in which senior Qatari poets participated.
S’hail 2022 also saw the wide participation of artists from within and outside Qatar.

* Winning falcon auction bid of QR911,000

The daily falcon auction at S'hail 2022 continued to be the exhibition's high point like every year, with large bids being made at each of the auctions.
The highest winning bid this year was of QR911,000, made by Bader Mohsen Misfer Saeed al-Subaey for a Mongolian bird on the penultimate day of the exhibition. The other top winning bids were of QR202,200 (Jaber Mohamed Salem Ali al-Hajri), and of QR171,000 (Mohamed Thawab al-Qahtani) made on the third and opening days, respectively.

* Al Rahal adjudged 'Most Beautiful Pavilion' of S'hail 2022


The prize of QR20,000 for the the Most Beautiful Pavilion at S'hail 2022 went to Al Rahal (land and sea equipment firm) of Qatar.
The first prize for 'The Most Beautiful Falcon Hood' of $3,000 was won by Pepe Para Hoods from Spain. Sahara Hunting of Britain won the second prize of $2000, while Matroh of Qatar won the third prize and $1,000.
The winners are decided based on the vote of the Organising Committee of S'hail.
The awards were first conceptualised at S’hail 2018 with the aim of supporting craftsmanship and traditional industries, and as an encouragement to participants for innovative ideas and designs.
The participants and exhibitors at S’hail 2022 expressed admiration at the development and expansion witnessed by the sixth edition of the exhibition, which was 20% larger in terms of the total area, exceeding 10,000sqm.
Badr Mohamed Saab, executive director of Bader Al Emarat Hunting and Trips Equipment Company, said S’hail 2022 attracted a great turnout since its start, stressing that it is considered the largest and the most important specialised exhibition - whether in terms of organisation and services, the volume of sales and purchasing power it registers, or the size and area - making it a centre of attraction for distinguished international companies in the field.
Ahmed Mahmoud al-Khamis from Thawab Hunting Equipment And Arms Maintenance Co. expressed pleasure at the big success of S’hail 2022. He also welcomed the expanse and grandeur of S’hail, its flawless organisation and the public turnout.
Thawab Hunting has been attracting patrons seeking hunting-related weapons since the first edition of the exhibition. In this edition, the company's pavilion displayed modern guns presented for the first time to hunt birds, recording huge sales, the statement noted.
Johnny Njeim, director of Brescia Middle East (Lebanon), expressed happiness at their third participation in S’hail, noting that the sixth edition was characterised by a heavy turnout and an increase in the sales volume, in addition to the launch of new products. Njeim stressed that the exhibition is growing, expanding and developing annually in response to the wishes of the participating parties and public.
He added that S’hail is the best way to market the latest high-quality products in the field of hunting weapons and accessories.
Abdul Salam al-Amiri from Tamreen Company also expressed pleasure at being a part of S’hail 2022, highlighting the official and public attendance at the exhibition.
Meanwhile, al-Marri praised the important role of the local, Arab and international press and media in the success of S’hail 2022, acknowledging its contribution in broadening the exhibition’s horizon.
He appreciated the live broadcasts and reportage by the Arab and international media, including TV channels as well as the audio, print and social media, pointing out that Katara considers media as authentic partners in all its heritage, cultural, artistic and sports activities.
S’hail - Katara International Hunting & Falcons Exhibition - is one of the largest international exhibitions and a showcase of Qatar’s rich cultural heritage and legacy. S’hail aims to support commercial, cultural and sporting activities related to falcons and hunting, and to build reciprocal relations between amateurs and traders in a manner that benefits all - at both the local and international levels.
