The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) has approved the accession of three cities in Qatar - Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Daayen - to membership of the Global Network of Learning Cities from the Unesco Institute for Lifelong Learning.
With this, six municipalities in the country are members of the Unesco Learning Cities Network, with Al Wakra, Al Shamal and Al Sheehaniya joining earlier.
The joining of the three cities is a new achievement for the Ministry of Municipality, represented by these municipalities, due to their commitment to all the criteria and standards to qualify for this membership through the adoption of a strategy to spread the concepts of sustainability and integrated society there, as part of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
