Qatar participated on Tuesday in the fourth meeting on Syria in Geneva, which was called for by the US. HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs Dr Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi headed the Qatari delegation during the meeting. In his remarks during the meeting, HE Dr al-Khulaifi said that this group has a great responsibility to co-ordinate and help end the suffering the Syrians have endured during the past 11 years. He added that although there has been no significant change since the last meeting in Brussels, concentrated efforts are more necessary than ever to support the Syrians and preserve their dignity. HE Dr al-Khulaifi urged international partners to continue their efforts to provide the necessary support to the Syrian people. In addition, he praised the role of host countries that provide support to the Syrian refugees until their voluntary and safe return to their homes. He reiterated Qatar's position calling for a solution to the Syrian crisis through the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254, expressing deep concern about the suspension of the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, and the failure of the Syrian regime to take any political steps towards finding a solution to the crisis.
