The Primary Health Care Corporation’s (PHCC) Umm Salal Health Centre has launched a 24/7 Paediatric Urgent Care Clinic and more health centres will offer 24/7 general urgent care services soon.
PHCC said in a statement: “As part of our commitment to offer patients round-the-clock high-quality urgent healthcare that is easily accessible, quick and efficient, other 24-hour Urgent Care Services are expected to go live in other health centres in the coming months.
“With an ever-increasing population, there is growing demand for high-quality Urgent Care Services, making it a vital component of our healthcare offering. We are confident that with the expansion of our urgent care to include paediatrics, we are able to increase access to high-quality urgent care for an even wider demographic group.”
Umm Salal Health Centre, one of the 28 PHCC health centres across the country, has been providing urgent care services for adults, and has now expanded its services to offer 24/7 Urgent Care Services for children and young people, up to the age of 18. Through this service, people with non-life-threatening medical needs will be able to obtain treatment, including but not limited to: severe minor illnesses such as high fever or vomiting, mild or moderate asthma, skin rashes, croup, umbilical discharge, or ear and eye complaints.
The 24-hour Paediatric Urgent Care Service is currently available at Muaither and Al Ruwais Health Centres and led by a team of specialist doctors and nurses, and supported by pharmacy and x-ray services. As a walk-in service, patients are offered the convenience of a fast and effective assessment, diagnosis, treatment and/or advice, ensuring the most appropriate level of intervention and quality patient care.
PHCC currently offers adult patients 24/7 Urgent Care Services for non-life-threatening medical needs, such as minor burns, mild to moderate dehydration, fever, severe dizziness, mild shortness of breath, vomiting, animal bites, and acute skin infections, at eight health centres, such as: Rawdat Al Khail, Al Rayyan, Al Kaaban, Al Sheehaniya, Al Ruwais, Muaither, Abu Bakr Al Siddiq, and Umm Salal Health Centres.
