Al Maha Island, Qatar’s much anticipated, leisure and tourism hotspot, will open at the beginning of November, an official has said.
Marwan Dimas, Group chief Marketing and Communications officer at Estithmar Holding, told Al Kass TV on Friday that the 230,000sqm facility will receive visitors about two weeks ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Located across the Lusail Marina promenade and linked to the mainland via a causeway, Al Maha Island is expected to attract more than 1.5mn visitors per year.
Featuring Lusail Winter Wonderland, Nammos Beach Club, Al Maha Arena and a high-end dining district, Al Maha Island is to be the popular destination among citizens and residents in Qatar and expected to attract tourists from the GCC countries and the region.
"Al Maha will be one of the top entertainment destinations for visitors, and the winter getaway here will remain open each year from November to April with the best of leisure and entertainment activities," Dimas said, adding that Al Maha Island will also host Europe's largest touring show, Gandeys Circus, with 30 international acclaimed artistes and live musicians.
Located in the heart of Al Maha Island, Lusail Winter Wonderland will be jam-packed with festive fun, featuring over 50 rides and attractions, delicious food and drinks and live entertainment.
Nammos, the famous beach club of Mykonos and Dubai, will be another highlight in addition to some of the best internationally acclaimed restaurants in the High-End District.
The renowned brands coming to the Island include London’s award-winning ZUMA, LPM - the famous French restaurant, Tatel, Em Sherif - the luxurious Levant restaurant, Carbonen and others.
Zuma, the brainchild of award-winning co-founder and creator, Rainer Becker, brings its internationally acclaimed style of authentic and modern Japanese food. LPM is a Riviera-inspired restaurant: "exquisite harmony on the palate, outrageous harmony in the room. A journey to explore the essential joy at the heart of Mediterranean ingredients at their peak".
Open since 2014 and with restaurants in Madrid, Ibiza and Beverly Hills, Tatel is a unique experience of Spanish haute cuisine, excellence in service and live music every day of the year.
Em Sherif is a distinguished fine-dining Oriental restaurant that offers unique, authentic Oriental cuisine that brings back forgotten traditional flavours, providing its guests with an unsurpassed first-class dining experience.
Carbone is one of the most celebrated Italian restaurants of the last decade. 'The New York Times' probably put it best: “It is a fancy red-sauce joint as directed by Quentin Tarantino."
Another attraction is Billionaire, which "boldly steers away from the standard dining experiences the city has to offer, by pairing its extraordinary Grand Show with an exquisite culinary experience, enjoyed in the most mesmerising of settings".
Some casual dining restaurants will also be housed on the Island.
Another attraction on the Island will be the concert area. The 7,000-capacity area will host the Global Music Festival, 34 live events annually and is set to attract big names from international and regional superstars to world renowned DJs, singers and comedians.
