Jeff Holcomb joins ACS Doha as middle high school principal this autumn, succeeding Trevor Furness, whose distinguished tenure included being one of the founding members of the school back in 2011.
Holcomb, who has worked in his native US, Tanzania and South Korea, is currently high school principal at the International School of Beijing, a statement from ACS Doha said yesterday.
"The reason I got into education was because you literally change lives, and there are very few careers and jobs that you can say that about," Holcomb was quoted as saying.
Recalling that earlier in his career, he had worked as an MYP co-ordinator in institutions that were secondary schools (Grade 6-12), the educator said his last two schools have been American-style high schools and he really missed the Grade 6-12 feel.
"I love being able to support those seven years, so that’s definitely something that drew me to the role at ACS Doha," stated Holcomb, who had previously worked at the Seoul Foreign School, an IB World School.
"I came to Beijing because they were investigating pathways that included the IBDP but weren’t limited to it in high school and I loved that opportunity. So, I was really excited to see that ACS Doha is working on multiple pathways, allowing students to really engage with what they’re interested in and passionate about," he added.
