TotalEnergies has selected Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) as the recipient of its joint venture (JV) operational excellence award for 2021 in the Middle East, Asia and Africa regions.
This award is nominated by TotalEnergies management committee in refining and petrochemicals, and recognises the company’s joint ventures that have a high-performance in operational excellence.
Francois Good, senior vice president (Refining and Petrochemicals) at TotalEnergies presented the award to Dr Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla, managing director and chief executive officer of Qapco in the presence of senior officials from both companies.
"This award recognises the outstanding operational performance of Qapco. Safety results, within budget, availability above budget and a remarkable performance on the mega turnaround and inspection (T&I) are world class performances”, said Good.
"We are delighted to be the recipients of the 2021 TotalEnergies JV operational excellence award which demonstrate our firm commitment and dedication to safety, reliability and cost discipline and which is driven by continuous improvement and best practices," said al-Mulla.
Qapco is one of the world's largest producers of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), derived from oil and natural gas.
TotalEnergies has a 20% stake in the company, which holds an ethylene plant cracker with a production capacity of 840 kilo tonnes per annum (ktpa), and three LDPE plants with a total combined production capacity of over 780 ktpa and a sulphur plant with a production capacity of 70 ktpa.
