Head of the department of licences and support at the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) Rashid Mohamed al-Nuaimi said that the authority celebrates World Humanitarian Day, which falls on August 19, to pay tribute to humanitarian works and to call for protecting humanitarian teams all around the world. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said that the authority was established to support and regulate charitable work. He pointed out that the authority has prepared an integrated program, in commemoration of the World Humanitarian Day, by highlighting the role of Qatar in serving the charitable and humanitarian sector around the world, and recalling the great efforts made by Qatari institutions, associations and organisations, in supporting global charitable and humanitarian work. He stressed the role of RACA in supervising charitable and humanitarian work carried out by private institutions, as well as supervising and controlling the operations of collecting authorised donations for charitable associations and institutions. He noted that the latter is carried out in co-operation with the designated authorities. He said that the authority is obligated to keep records and statistics on the approved measures and the penalties that were applied to private charitable institutions, in addition to promoting the importance of charitable work.
