Curtains came down on the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkiye, with a closing ceremony at the Selcuk University Stadium on Thursday. Qatar finished the medals tally in 13th position with 12 medals (four gold, three silver and five bronze). Hosts Turkiye topped the medals table with a whopping 341 medals, which included 145 gold, 107 silver and 89 bronze. More the 4,000 athletes from 54 countries competed at Games. The next edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in Yaounde, Cameroon in 2025. In his closing address, al-Faisal said that the Games were held at a high level and was a huge success. The ISSF chief was confident that the holding of the future Games will contribute to even better training of athletes and the development of sports in the countries of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation.
