The Qatar Assistive Technology Centre (Mada) has opened nominations for the first edition of the Mada Innovation Award 2022, in preparation for technical evaluation of the solutions provided and the beginning of the stages of competition and communication with participants to present their innovations.
The nominations will continue until August 31.
The award, worth QR1,000,000, is the first of its kind aimed at encouraging and supporting innovative solutions that enhance the accessibility of information and communication technology for people with disabilities and the elderly, whether in the form of hardware, software or applications on smartphones.
Its launch comes within the direct grants track designed to provide opportunities for new innovative individuals and organisations that already have a "proven concept" for a product or service.
A financial grant will be provided to the winners to enable them to establish their position in the local market and develop the innovative product or service to meet all needs and ensure sustainability in the local and Arab market.
The award aims to raise awareness of innovators, programmers, technology-makers and mobile application developers of the importance of developing innovations that keep pace with the requirements and variables of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and works to integrate persons with disabilities into all sectors of society.
The idea of launching this award came from the Mada's belief in the pioneering role of innovations that are adapted and integrated with assistive technology and their ability to provide added value to people with disabilities around the world.
This allows users to benefit from integrated and accessible services of high quality and enables them to discover new levels of luxury of life that help build capabilities and support achievement.
Through this award, Mada also seeks to urge individuals and institutions to devise technical and software solutions that would make a real improvement in the lives of persons with disabilities in line with the global digital transformation. – QNA
